In any event, I'm mentioning it here because many of us probably visit many of the same websites. AVG offers a FREE version of their software that you can only install on ONE computer. Or... I was noticing some uncharacteristic sluggishness, and since removing Adware Generic.DTX , the computer is noticeably perkier [Link] |

Something actually changed the AVG icon/link that was pinned in my Start Menu, and linked it to the "Uninstall AVG" process. Good thing I caught it! Have you guys ever encountered something this devious before? I've worked on other people's computers where malware would actually shut the computer down if you tried to run utilities that could kill it. But this really freaked me out. AVG, today, also found a remnant hidden as a "restore .exe" file. Got rid of this too. Computer scans totally clean as of this moment :) [Link] |
