Any smart broker ran out and got certified with Fannie Mae and got all those foreclosed home listings. You should also note that only certain markets were devastated. So to assume that mine was again suggests you don't really understand the situation. I specialized in foreclosures even BEFORE the crisis, so if anything, it has helped my business... and I'm not a rarity, lots of brokers are doing well. The crappy, part time agents might have no work and might have taken down their license but that's typical and part of the ebb and flow of my business. So clearly brokers weren't necessarily affected-some are prospering. So perhaps you meant you hope I lost money as a real estate investor??? Again this makes even less sense. The investors are the ones capitalizing. The commercial market is very tight, which means investment property has dropped lower across the board (this IS the one area of real estate that is affected in all of the U.S.... but the problems you hear about are mostly in the residential sector of CERTAIN MARKETS. So some investors are cleaning up. If you have liquid, or equity in other investments, you can go out in this recession and buy a bunch of property that will indeed rise in value soon enough. There are 3 commodities human beings MUST have at all times and thus they are perhaps the safest investments out there, one of those is "real estate". But to assume that a real estate broker or real estate investor has surely been horribly screwed by this economic mess is a very ignorant one at best. The industries affected are across the board and real estate itself is a very dynamic industry. I can work for banks, I can work for investors, I can work for buyers, and sellers, I can sell restaurants, I can sell schools, I can sell raw land, I can develop... The list is quite long you see, so if any industry is loaded with options in a crisis, it is real estate. The guys who survived the '80s crisis are frequently millionaires today. And for a 36 year old guy, I'm doing okay. I feed my family, my daughter goes to a good school that I pay for each month... So for you to wish ill will on myself and thus my family, reveals how low your nature really is. You first carry on like you're some activist fighting for The Bill of Rights or something, then in the next post you act like a stuck up spoiled brat lol. Listen, you do what do you do to protect yourself. You're IN that industry so you'd be a fool NOT to be involved when it is THREATENED. I'd do the same thing in YOUR SHOES. Your problem is, you cannot see past YOUR SHOES. You just made my point for me: You made it clear that you hope real estate brokers are starving. Why? Because in your limited view, you don't think it would really affect you. I pay attention to issues that threaten or change MY BUSINESS. Just as you do with yours.
