Are you going to alternate the colors of the threads in the forum page or just the posts?[Link]

I miss the purple thread icons. Now I can't see which threads have new posts any more.Oh - now I see - we have dark yellow and light yellow instead of purple and yellow.
The background of post text is now a bit too bright for comfort.

I like the new colors, looks a lot less like a fifty year old newspaper, but I prefer the purple folders for telling what threads have new posts. The current colors lack enough contrast to tell what has and hasn't been posted in.[Link] Bob All-Star Member 5516 Posts 3/03 Posted - Apr 6 2007 : 9:18PM

Been offline all day, and another change here. I swear, all changes happen when I am offline. And always I'm surprised by them when I do get online. Change can be good, but I don't know if I'm sold on this one yet.

For the folks that are saying "too bright" what type of monitor do you use? (LCD/tube) I think it looks good on the LCDs we have access to but we don't have a regular CRT tube to check it on.

I have a double header - 19 inch LCD and CRT side by side. It's definitely too bright on my LCD. There is less of a problem on the CRT, but I still preferred the old version.I use a custom windows color setup, so that I normally don't have to read text against a white background.

Changes to the site are made nearly every day.I'm still working on the colors. I don't like the white either. But I also don't like the bright yellow. I'm working on two earth tones.

I'm using a Mac and on my browser (Safari), the color difference between the "orange" designating posts with new threads and the "yellow" designating no new threads is almost not discernible at all. I really have to look closely now to tell if a thread has new posts or not. I suggest that this color scheme be differentiated further...[Link] jayo All-Star Member 2117 Posts 7/04 Posted - Apr 7 2007 : 2:08PM
I have no problem with it. He (or she) who pays the bill calls the tune.Would it be possible someday to get a list of styles that we can each choose from? I see that done on a number of other sites.

Ah-ha! Real-time feedback...the new light blue color designating "new posts in thread" is MUCH easier on the eyes than the last orange vs yellow thing. Very much appreciated![Link] jayo All-Star Member 2117 Posts 7/04 Posted - Apr 7 2007 : 3:35PM

Yeah, I remember those. They were usually the default placeholders when a website hadn't been configured on the server.
When we make drastic changes (like tweaking a few colors) the changes aren't visible to users until we make actually them. To suggest that we need to solicit some type of advanced approval or provide a notice that we're going to work on the site is simply ludicrous.
We make changes or add new features and then get feedback. That's how it works. We generally don't get feedback about changes that haven't yet been made, and certainly don't need to seek approval to work on the site.
However, I might just go take a shit in my neighbor's back yard just to see how it feels. Maybe I'll like it and I'll ask him to let me know next time he's going to take a shit in his own back yard. I might not want him shitting up my favorite shit spot.
