I recently switched to it from FF. I was tired of FF crashing/locking up 2-3x a week if more than four tabs were open along with doing same on most sites that use M$ embedded Media Player. Besides, FF is a resource hog notwithstanding the memory leakage tweeks. Lastly, I quickly noticed that Opera loads pages a helluva lot faster than FF or IE. Just curious if anyone else is using Opera?

At first I really liked Firefox, but the resource hog issue, 100% CPU issue (on one of my machines) and weirdness with media files, online editors and PDF files has caused me to be disenchanted.

I used Opera for awhile back in the 3.0 to 6.0 days. There were things I liked about it, but a lot of sites just didn't display right. Plus, some financial sites would not allow it. Also, it seemed overly complex to me. I'm an advanced computer user, but the controls just didn't seem intuitive and that is something I look for. Opera seemed to have many bugs, some of which were quite serious. As soon as one was squashed, five new ones cropped up.

All the browsers have things I like, but none of them really satisfy me totally.

I use several browsers.

FF for safe surfing. I've set it to not accept anything (ie: cookies, s, etc).
Opera for casual surfing including here.
IE .. as last option.

Ditto. From what I've read and heard, FF is the real deal when surfing questionable sites, especially smut. Moreover, I installed the Pornzilla "remove redirects" Java script button which has practically eliminated the pay-per-click BS. Most important is FF's option of allowing/not allowing web sites to install software (Tools/Options/Web Features). I credit this feature along with with SpywareBlaster of preventing the self-installation of malicious logic. My system hasn't been infected in over three years Also, I only use web mail with HTML disabled.

IE is only used for Windows Update

I love the speed of Opera, and I have found it, for the most part, user friendly. I've only noticed a couple of problems so far: incomplete downloads (transfers) and some sites with flash animations don't properly load.

I've been using opera for some time.... probably 5 years or so... I always liked their webpage cache that let you click back a couple dozen pages from cache instead of having to reach out and download the page again ....Logitech had the first mice with programmable 3rd and 4th buttons you could bind to an "page forward" or "page backward" command. Made surfing a pleasure - even on dialup.

It took IE 2 years to do the same - they are still playing catch up to Opera even now.

There were some issues - mostly with M$ websites and some things just do not work - animated gifs and video streams - most of that has been fixed in the newest releases - back in the days of version 5 & 6 things were not so good.
