There is a guy in a neighboring town that drinks it steadily. He rides a bike and wraps rags around his entire body and never takes a bath. That certainly explains a lot. It's too bad that the situation is unlikely to change (it may even worsen) until the government tries to tackle the deeper issues in the porn industry. I'm not saying it makes sense, but it happens and I don't judge a performer because of it. Porn is hard on the body. I agree that it would make a person less likely to know if real damage had been done, but for some performers that is not a consideration. Some people react differently to pain killers. I personally get energized after taking painkillers and have talked to other people who have the same reaction. Others get sleepy after taking painkillers. Prescription drugs are a way of life in Porn Valley. Kami mentioned a long time ago that her agent gave her painkillers. I've also heard second hand stories of girls being given meds on set to help them get in the mood for a scene or to help them finish a scene they are having trouble with. Its just the reality of the business these days. Remember, movies are shot seven days a week. Back in the early 90s, shooting twice a week was a big deal.

You are right. There was one female performer who went through three breast implant surgeries over an 18 month period. Plus there are girls who get lip injections on a regular basis; that can't feel too great. Plastic surgery is a part of job maintenance. Teagan admitted to getting breast implants and then in the same year, removing them to get a different set. And then of course, there is the gonzo performer who got a chin and cheek implants, plus new breasts all at once. In LA, there are plastic surgeons who cater to adult performers.
My knowledge of certain people engaging in this behavior is second hand, but I do believe it. Look at scenes where girls are pounded hard, have their hair pulled, etc. Imagine having to shoot 6 scenes like that per week. I've also noticed awful bruises on female performers; the bruises were purple, which indicated to me that they were not light slaps, but hard hits! Certain companies are known for shooting aggressively rough scenes, so it literally makes sense to take something before, so you can go to your next job and be seen as a reliable performer. As someone else mentioned, showing up is important and can land a performer on the shortlist so they have a better chance at a job.
