Danejones and Fakehub sites I see are now charging extra to download. This is something new to me but in the past I have seen Mofo's site and Realitykings doing this.

I'm just wondering why they are going steaming only these days and charging a lot each month for downloads? I know porn has always tried to extract as much money from people as possible.

Literally all of those sites you mentioned are managed by Mind Geek so it doesn't come as a surprise that they are making a tiered subscription service across all their sites.

^ No, some of the people downloading share the files. I don't share files illegally but I typically refuse to subscribe/renew to streaming-only sites or where there is a significant premium to download. I download so I have a sense of permanency with porn since streaming sites can pull content at will

Tarring legitimate customers with the same brush as those who download to share illegally is as closed-minded as it is exploitative by Mind Geek.

I think it's simpler: Those who download a scene don't have the need to keep the subscription if they ever want to watch that scene again. So it makes sense charging these people more than those who only watch it once (or if they watch it repeatedly, pay for it via their ongoing subscription).
It's another issue still the amount of times one watches a certain scene... that probably totally depends on a) the watcher and b) the scene itself

I was making snide remark, wasn't being serious.
I don't know the reasoning/logic/rationale behind charging extra for downloads. There are plenty of pornsites that provide unlimited downloads AND unlimited streaming as part of your subscription fee. The downloaders are actually costing less to service than the streamers, because they only need download the scene 1 time and never again. Whereas for the streaming members, if they watch and re-watch the scene over and over they are essentially re-downloading it multiple times and using server/bandwidth every time. Maybe they know the people who download are more motivated collectors and therefore are more likely to stand for being fleeced. My preferred way would be just charge à la carte for downloads. $5 per scene or something like that.

The model of free streaming with pay to download makes sense. That means the monthly fee is for streaming access to their library. If you wish to own the file for rewatching at home or if they opt to take it down costs more money. Most people won't want to own all the scenes, just the ones they really like.

^That's certainly a way to look at the issue that make sense. With the caveat that of the site letting consumers know in big, bold print on the front page that downloads are extra. My problem with the way that these systems are currently set up is I can join Reality Kings or Brazzers with a gift card, but I can't upgrade to get downloads with a gift card. And after a couple of issues last year with my credit card, I'm done paying for porn that way.

^If you choose the 30 days streaming only option you should be able to unlock downloads (for $10 I think) when you try to download a scene. At least that is what happened when I joined AdultTime a few months ago.

^ Yeah most of the sites switching to this "downloads are extra" model usually offer monthly rate plans, with an option to add-on downloads (Tends to be between $10-15 extra depending on the site). Frankly I'm fine with paying a little extra if it means that I can continue to have local copies of the scenes I like.
