Followed her career quite a bit. She changes her mind a lot. A WHOLE lot.
Good for her if she's made a decision to go in an entirely different direction or whatever. Everyone should do what makes them happy.
But I just wouldn't be surprised if this isn't just another stop along the Penny X-press.
Her personal website seems to be Vivid's now. That kind of confuses me. It was her personal site, not a corporate one, so did she give the domain up and Vivid bought it? Because if you go there now, they are not only still selling Penny, but there's using her stint with Dr. Drew to almost make it seem like Penny's endorsing it.
I can't imagine Dr. Drew would approve of her quitting and going through the program and still making money from selling her story to be used to help Vivid make money off of her scenes.

Reading that blog, it appears to me that Jennie is a helluva lot cooler than Penny. I'm gonna go ahead and believe that I have met this side of her, and that she wasn't always in Penny mode 24/7. 'Cause as much as I loved me some Flaming Flame, even I could admit she was best taken in small doses.
This is one of those rare retirement stories that actually makes me feel good. I mean, there's no doubt in mind that recovery from addiction is as good a reason as any to get out of the porn biz. When girls retire because of relationship or religious reasons, I always get put off and wonder why they even got started in the biz in the first place.
In this case, I can honestly say Jennie is doing the right thing. She's made mistakes, and now she's owning up to them. If you can't admire and respect that, then so be it.
And finally, the blog promises to be just as fascinating as the porn career that preceded it. I look at this as a new chapter in her wacky story.

Don't exclude the possibility that Dr. Drew and company somehow convinced her that she has these problems. He's always come off to me as a wet towel.

Gotta give her credit for owning up to the way she/Penny behaved. Even as fan you could kind of see that she seemed out of control and sometimes kind of on the mean when she didn't seem to need to be.
Penny was always extremely articulate. So maybe the "cooler" Jennie will use that to her advantage now and do more eventually than just blog. Not that she needs to.
She has a talent for prose. Ironically, I don't know if it would be good or for a recovering porn star addict to write about about their life. Maybe she needs to just keep working to forget Penny and just deal with Jennie exclusively now. Seems like it would be very difficult to do.
But it would make a good book and she could actually pull it off too.

I think people can have their opinions, I kind of think this rehab thing on tv is pretty dubious, but I think only Penny/Jennie will ever really know the answers and only what comes in the future, whether we know about it or not, will really show whether they've only further confused her or if this was really what she needed.
I hope most people will just wish her the best. I also hope if she's sincere that she goes back to San Diego or even to Hawaii for some time to keep herself away from any painful triggers of the life she's giving up.

Kudos to her for doing what she needs to do. For all the speculation of what may happen in the future, well that's all it is: speculation. If you think she can't be sure of what her future holds, just remember that the rest of us can't be sure of what our own future holds either. Remember also that she's still a fairly young woman (recently turned 26), and many of us were much different people at 26 than we are now (for those of us older than 26).
The difference for her is that she lived her late teens, early and mid-twenties in a very public manner, so we're able to say things like "her wacky journey", etc. whereas many other people had wacky journeys from 19-26 years old, but only a select few friends and family really got to see it.
I know that if I pull out those same years from the rest of my life and look at them on their own, I see a very different personality from the one I have today. I'm still fundamentally the same person, but a lot has changed. And I'm only in my early thirties! I'm sure in another ten years, my character will be even more removed from that time in my life.
So I wish her the best in doing what she feels she needs to do now, at this point in her life. It may turn out to be the best path, it may turn out to not be so great. But she feels she needs to try something different, and that feeling itself is probably a good enough reason to walk down another path than the one she's been on for the past 8 years.

I truly wish her the best. Some mutual friends told me that she's already left LA and has changed (or is changing) her phone number.
If for some reason, if in the future she decides that she's able to handle being in the adult business in small doses, I hope that her friends welcome her back with open arms.

too bad she got so hooked on the drugs.
And that her porn life made her feel uneasy in ehr life. its not good to let your other self take over. Deugs dont help either.. She seems to have been suffering from a split personality that maybe took a very solid form when she started to act in porn.
I hope she can get a decent job amd that if she feels like it she returns to shoot a scene or two.
Anyway, she was easiliy one of the best femdoms @ captivemale and so forth giving some of the best handjobs ever.
If im gonna be a little egoistic i have to say its sad that she quits now, and didnt start when she was older.
Since she looks much hotter now then when she started. Especially her body. I mean here she looks jsut amazing!
Btw i dont understand why she sayas she have to get rid of her vibrator :S

I've found myself enjoying her blogs even more then her porn, though Sports Fucking 5 is at the top of my all time list.
She is an excellent writer and from what I've seen of her art she is without question a very creative person, and she has a very quick wit.
Actually I wonder if it was porn that was holding her back from doing things more substantial.
I hope we get to hear more from Jenifer Ketcham...

If she believes that she is crazy.
I've never heard a doctor tell anyone no sex for a year.
Is this the same "doctor" Drew that was on MTV?
If so, never listen to that nut.

Any reputable rehab center is going to tell a sex addict basically the same thing about abstaining. Most rehabs, along with your therapist, also will usually set limits on how long you should wait before having a relationship.
Sex addiction with a porn star must be a tough one to do. I mean athletes and rocks stars often are treated for this, because they're on the road a lot and women throw themselves at them. But you can't tell them to give up their careers. But Penny's career was sex, so she's definitely got a challenge facing her.

Ya I know. It is a wacky story. And many of us love her all the more for it, the good times and the bad.
I was just sayin' that as opposed to most other people (like you and me and other non-porn people on this board, for example), her wacky story is well-known to many.

hi,
even though i haven´t read her blog fully i feel kinda guilty right now for having enjoyed her scenes so much.
"We" outsiders can not imagine what it must be like to work in a industry where you get fucked in more than one way. Every person compensates different what he/she does every day. I often wonder how those young girls are able to do it. It doesn´t come as a surprise to me if they can only handle it with the use of ... this or that. U know, life always changes and i sometimes wonder if i´ll ever get to see all my movies that i bought over the years or if they all end up in the trash when my time has come. Time has gone so fast the last couple of years and it´s not comming back. At least, all the girls i had the pleasure of watching do all the things i can never have for myself, have given me countless hours of (self)pleasure ... even if the price is as high as it is. Maybe i need to see someone too ? All this doesn´t make watching porn more easy
I wish all the best to Jennie

^ Maybe I missed something in the blog, but it doesn't sound like Jennie blames or holds any ill will towards the porn industry. She seems to acknowledge that she carried a lot of shit going into the biz, and the porn scene only provided easy access and enabling of her vices.
Again, it's absolutely refreshing to see a fave of mine exit the business without going the route of ripping on the industry. I don't think you have any reason to feel guilty. I know I have no plans to stop watching and enjoying Penny Flame.

Porn is schizo land.
I don't understand therapy or "anonymous" anything. But if it's what you need and it helps and you're happy, go for it. I'd never begrudge anyone for quitting porn. In fact, I wonder why anyone ever starts porn. Penny always showed a flair for comedy acting, so maybe the reality show is her path to a different career and a chance to explore other facets of her talent. On the whole, you can't say it's a bad time to be jumping off the porno railroad.

Holy crap, when I posted my last post just a few minutes ago, I hadn't even read the latest blog entry, "Porn Made Me Do It". When I read that title, I thought, "Oh shit, I just spent a good chunk of time typing that post on my fucking iPhone, claiming that Jennie doesn't blame porn for any of her problems. Now this!"
And then I read the blog post.
Let me just say, I think I love this girl even more now than I ever did. Not only did she flat-out verify everything I speculated above, but she also found a way to increase my love of porn. Who woulda thunk it?

The one I wouldn't listen to is the dark-haired guy that was on a few episodes of the Celebrity Rehab show; the one that always wore business suits with dress shoes but no socks. I kept hoping Gary Busey would fly into a rage and start ranting about why should he take advice from a doctor that dresses like a goddamn hobo.

Good luck to Penny, but I did see this coming when I heard of her going on that show. Seems to me like it's all because she wants to see what she can do in the Mainstream world...and denouncing her adult career first, is always advised as the best way of going about it. She is one cool girl, so whatever she does....it'll be entertaining. Although I have a feeling we might see her perform again, just have that feeling :)
I am just glad I got to see her do some hardcore anal before she called it quits! "shushhhh"

Hate to break it to ya, but if you're talking about me when using the word troll...then you must be on crack. As far as Penny doing anal is concerned, well, I guess now that she seems to have quit the business for good, it's safe to say it in general public.
Her brief stay with Metrobabes was a lot more interesting then a lot of you might've thought. Let's just say she did things in her private shows that she never got even close to doing, and by choice! Because she was in control, and she was calling the shots....I don't wanna say exactly everything she did for me and a few others who got regular shows from her there, but let's just say at least most of my dreams came true as far as she is concerned.
That's the reason why I wish so badly she still at least did some web stuff, specially webcamming....but, good things always come to an early end.

I'm assuming you're quoting from her blog. I don't plan to be reading it any longer.
Seems odd that a REAL addict would be allowed to go through rehab and then find her true self, but dabble as her fake self in the very business she was addicted to (in part). I just can't imagine Dr. Drew saying (and I'm not the one who chose to go on his show or consider him an expert, which me may be, I don't know) it's not good for you to go on being an addict, but it's cool if you profit from your old addiction AND it's also ok if you direct people in the porn business who could potentially have the same addictions you had.
I guess celebrities really do go to special rehabs, because you wouldn't be told that was acceptable if your name was Joe Jones, a recovering crack addict, who decided it was ok to visit the crack houses again to see old friends, but wouldn't use. Or an alcoholic going back to work at the bar or beer factory.
The whole thing about recommeding porn to girls who could set aside their intimacy or something to that effect was also bizarre. Does that mean Jenna Haze has set aside her real needs until she leaves porn? Everyone in porn is the same in the regard?
That's why I can't read it any longer-it feels manipulative. Great writer, no doubt, but if the whole addict thing is real, it sure looks like a ploy to get attention and then a lot of bargaining and justifying going on there, that just doesn't really fit what is it like for most other recovering addicts.

^I find it a good policy that if you are going to comment on someones thoughts, at least take the trouble to read what they have to say. That way when you make an ass out of yourself at least you will be on firm footing.
A fair reading of her comments produces the understanding that this is her personal journey, not Jenna Haze's or that of some other porn performer. She is in no way regretful or apologetic of her 8-year career. And, she is certainly not having a come to Jesus moment. I provided the above link so at least a reader who follows it would have some context, which is only lost on folks like you.
I'm not sure who she would be manipulating regarding her new direction, put if she was trying to do that she might have posted directly on this forum instead of her new blog. Without the initial link on this thread I, for one, wouldn't have known anything about her current status.

Typical juvenile response by someone who simply didn't like or agree with an opinion different than their own.
In fact, only part of my reply was directed at the comment about sometimes working for Vivid. The other main post was about the last FULL blog that I read, which included comments such as Penny/Jennie stating things that are, in my opinion, wildly subjective and contradictory. Such as recommeding the business to those who can set aside their need for real intimacy for years.
I know, you're an expert on rehab and psychology, so there's no need to give my own opinion, because you can attack and call people names or try and demean them (sure, it's ALL lost on me). Oh, the hypocrisy of you attacking me as being lost when you're behavior in response is the exact oppostive way one is taught to react in the real world.
Something Penny/Jennie learned in rehab was that you don't attack someone for their opinion EVEN IF you think it's misinformed, lazy, or just plain stupid.
I stand by MY opinion and feel it's a reasonable conclusion from MY personal perspective.
You can go back to calling me names now.
PS-Nice, you had added about to your intial post by nearly 2 times the original length and subject matter and made it just seem like an edit.
Right, like it was probably easy for people to find Penny's LAST Blog at myhotmess.com. Which never had the kind of traffic this one already does. Must be cause this one was kept so secret.

My response to you concerned your misstating what she said about sex addiction. Which is, since you apparently didn't read, it as follows:
You make a rather pompous statement about her sincerity or quality of her treatment, based on never actually reading her blog or reading it so casually that you missed her definition of what exactly her problem is.
You sir are the juvenile.

Well, I'm done with you and this issue. The fact is YOU made the mistake. Is what you quoted about ALL that she said about intimacy? Well, is it...or did you leave the things she wrote that, I, personally questioned and wrote about in MY post sharing MY sketicism which, I believe, I'm entitled to have.
This is what ELSE Penny/Jennie wrote and the only part I had issues/questions about and which you've just blantantly misreprented.
"This has been an amazing career for me, and I would recommend being a pornstar to anyone that can momentarily put aside the need to be intimate, and then pick it back up and go on with life. You can make yourself a little nest egg and live pretty (well you used to be able to but the economic state of the biz is so so). But I’d also recommend they quit the moment they can’t pick that emotion back up, the moment intimate becomes a foreign word."
You can pick a fight with someone or try and turn their point upside down very easily when you choose to selectively take the parts out of her post that they're actually talking about in the first place.
Bravo. Again, I have every right to my opinion, but since I also made the comment that I did and that I don't intend to continue to follow her career or her blog, there is really no reason to continue this debate.
I'm not suggesting I know more than you do about Penny/Jennie...only that you made a conscious effort to read my post, criticize it, and then use quotes from her blog that made it look like I was just trying to make her look bad, when, in fact, you entirely left out the quotes from her blog that ACTUALLY had to do with my original comments, whether they are right or wrong.

It gives a small summary of some of the stuff already said here, as well as a bit about Penny's time in the adult film industry.
