I live in a very humid area and the house temp can swing a lot. In the summer, during the day, while I'm at work, the temperature can easily reach 80-85,or more (I hate when I forget to set the AC timer before I leave for work). In the winter the temp is on a timer to go between 60-68 at different times of the day.

I have a fair number from that period of time but experience few problems with them. (The ones we change out totally didn't work in any of my machines.)

I am having some intermittent problems now with some discs (but not only EA titles). Several times my DVD player won't play a disc, but they play perfectly in my PC drive. I can get the same disc out a week later and they play on the DVD player with no problem.

I suspect that my DVD head is getting dirty and needs servicing.

The temp in my place is fairly even year round, and humidity is not a problem. I store my discs flat (horizontal), in the jewel case that they are shipped in.

Temperature is pretty stable.
Humidity is normally in the low sixties. It swings between 50 and 70.

In the winter in my home, the temp is 65F and about 30-40% rel. hum. In the summer, it's 70-75, and about 55-70% rel.hum., not a big difference temp wise, but almost twice as much moisture in the air in the summer.

In places like Florida and Louisiana, it's high temp/high humidity all year round. In places like California and Arizona, it's moderate temp in the winter, high temp most of the other times, and low humidity all year round.

I guess what I'm trying to say is to keep in mind how much temp and humidity vary across the country.

One place you should consider is the warehouses where DVD's are stored, either by distributors, online retailers or others. Warehouses are rarely heated or air-conditioned, so a disc stored for several months in one of these places could be seeing some serious time at either high or low temps, more severe than what will happen in a retail store or someone's home.

I store all my DVDs vertically in its original DVD case. Temperature ranges from around 60F in winter to 85F in summer.
