The scene was basic b/g but well shot with good angles and not too much editing. It could have been a great scene, but in fact is virtually unwatchable due to the diabolical quality of the picture. I can't believe anyone would want to produce something as crappy as this, when all they need do is get a decent fricking camera! The problem is that when the camera goes even a tiny bit close up and shows any rapid movement - which is kind of the point - the picture goes all fuzzy. After a few minutes I was feeling quite dizzy from all the blurring going on. Unbelievable. This is only the second Peter North title I've ever bought - the first one was the same rubbish quality but I thought things may have improved over the years - how wrong I was. Seriously, why would anyone want to buy such below par videos? I don't understand it at all. [Link] |

I've seen better video from the illegal VHS bootlegs that all the stroke shops used to stick us with over the years. FYI, I have all the Deep Throat This and North Pole DVDs from volumes #1 to present, so I have a great deal of perspective on this. Also, I watch an incredible amount of porn from many studios, and I am insulted by the poor quality coming from North Star these days. Is is, simply, inexcusable. [Link] |

With that said, I haven't watched any North stuff in a long while because of the bad quality mentioned. I guess this saves them money on production, but now as the use of HD cameras proliferates, the baseline standards of adult video quality are increasing (even Standard Def DVDs look better if they come from HD sources). We have communicated all your issues on the series mentioned above to Peter. We are making some changes that I know all fans will truly appreciate. In my opinion you have to keep making things interesting for the consumer to keep them coming back for more. I watch a lot of videos from other directors in order to keep improving and honing (sp) my craft so I can continue to grow as a director. You will see improvents in the lines in the near future. Thank you for all your comments and concerns. Although I do not direct any of Peters lines I do for NorthStar itself. I am getting pretty fair reviews and I am please that people do like my work. | Narcissus Deactivated User Love Thyself 418 Posts 1/08 | Posted - Oct 24 2008 : 4:54PM my complaint about a recent Peter North dvd (the latest North Pole series release), i bought is not the technical quality of the vid. ... but the quality of the scene itself. i, too, had got the dvd because the model on the box cover. when i watched the scene i was very disappointed about how drab, plain and colorless the set was. the whole scene took place on a bed? wtf? who does that anymore? didn't that go out in the 80's? i was also disappointed with the lackluster performance of Peter himself. there was absolutely no heat in the scene. maybe the model wasn't into him. maybe since ol Pete has fucked thousands of women, it's no longer exciting for him and he was just going through the motions. either way... i'm a disappointed with Northstsr and it's gonna take some revamping before i'll shell out any money for more of their product. North Star movies are seldom longer than 90-minutes, if that. One issue is that, North Star doesn't even use the disk space available to them. As many of you know, a 4.7 GB single-sided DVD-5 leaves you with 4459 MBs (4.35 GB) of available space for video DVDs. Looking at three recent Deep Throat This releases, notice how the available space is used (not used): DTT #40 Total Disk Space Used: 3.94 GB (4035 MB) = 90% of disk used Main Feature Disk Space Used: 3.26 GB (3339 MB) Main Feature Running Time: 1:29:14 (89 minutes) = 37.5 MB/per minute DTT #39 Total Disk Space Used: 3.81 GB (3901 MB) = 87% of disk used Main Feature Disk Space Used: 3.06 GB (3135 MB) Main Feature Running Time: 1:13:04 (73 minutes) = 42.9 MB/per minute DTT #38 Total Disk Space Used: 3.53 GB (3615 MB) = 81% of disk used Main Feature Disk Space Used: 2.92 GB (2987 MB) Main Feature Running Time: 1:18:08 (78 minutes) = 38.3 MB/per minute Let's contrast these with Glamcore from Teravision/Vivid: Glamcore Total Disk Space Used: 5.64 GB (5775 MB) *released on DVD-9 Main Feature Disk Space Used: 3.7 GB (3786 MB) Main Feature Running Time: 1:31:13 (91 minutes) = 41.6 MB/per minute Notice that Glamcore, at 41.6 MB/per minute, is comparable with the Deep Throat This releases. So, while they all devote similar amounts of disk space to the main feature, the Teravision/Vivid product is gorgeous and superior in every respect. Teravision/Vivid could have burned this movie onto a 4.7 GB single-sided DVD-5 -- without any loss of quality whatsoever -- simply by putting a few less extras with the release. The media used (single-sided DVD-5 vs dual-layer DVD-9) has nothing to do with it! The problem is that, North Star is putting crap onto the DVD to start with. And, the product has gotten noticeably worse over the last two years or so. Poor video quality... The same fucking "set" over and over... Inferior lighting... Jerky "MTV" camera work... Fucked-up disk "authoring" with menus that don't work properly... Zero production values... How about a little hair and makeup attention with the girls?... And, talking about the "set," I present you with the "brown couch": Staircase -- tile floor  Let's put the couch on the oriental rug  Let's move the lamp on the bureau to the right end  Lose the plants  That's it, no plants... and add a candlestick  Ooo, Ooo, Ooo... I know... let's add the couch's 2-seat baby brother  How about against a bare wall?  Too "Extreme"... move the end table over, and add a plant from the staircase  How about in front of the windows?  Perfect! Let's open the shade and use the natural light (don't worry about that pull-cord)...  [Link] |

It is likely a no-expenses-spared tribute to the glory days of the Deep Throat This series, where Peter and Craven always found creative and innovative ways to distinguish the NP titles from the Oral Adventures of Craven Moorehead series titles (shot with the same female cast on the same "sets" for both series). And I certainly can't believe that the material was orignally filmed at a lousy bit rate - heck even my HandyCam gives me 8 megabytes per second. Her name is Kim Chase. She told me that Peter has new lines coming out, and I think she hinted that some existing series (like DTT) will continue. She stated that announcements would start sometime this month, and that there would be a visit with Howard Stern, where he would announce his new stuff. She also stated that there would be improved quality and formats of the new content (evidence that this thread made some waves). I am a big fan of his work, and hope the new stuff starts soon!
