I read a thread where Brandon Iron was talking about how he liked someone's idea for a movie/series, and brought up that it is just too expensive to make something like that happen. I think there are probably lots of combinations of stars/sex acts that many people would like to see and might be willing to pay more than they normally would for a DVD or download if they could help make it happen. I believe I read recently that a mainstream director raised money for a movie by taking donations/pledges until he got the budget. The folks that gave money got a limited edition copy, a mention in the credit, and some other goodies.
I know I would pay $100 or more to contribute financially to a scene that fulfilled a fantasy for me. I am certain others would too.
Why not set up a secure payment site and let folks pledge with their credit card number, and once the amount needed is surpassed, charge the cards to get the funding? As well, you could give some kind of return on investment if the movie sold well.
Too far fetched/ complicated?

Complicated in there's a line between commercial porn and custom porn. What should you expect for a $100 pledge? What should you expect for a $250 pledge? If I pay $100 and the cameraman/director/editor screws it up in some asinine way I would be really really really pissed. These are the same people who make the ho-hum off-the-shelf porn that's out there now; a different source of money isn't gonna miraculously make them do a better job. Attempting to cater to 50-100 people is no different than attempting to cater to 10,000 people, you just have to take a generic mediocre approach and hope to leave everyone a little bit satisfied, at best.

I should try not to sound negative or pessimistic when I say why I can't produce something. Keeping my mouth shut is a much better solution but I feel obligated to respond to anyone with a specific request.
It's true that some people will support content no matter what. I'm a supporter of VOD through Hotmovies and AEBN because of the wide variety of releases. It's also true that a fan who chooses to download scenes or entire movies never has to pay for porn ever again. File sharing is the comet breaking through the atmosphere and the dust cloud to come will make producers like me extinct. This isn't a bad thing as I still get to be an artist....a sandwich artist at Subway. The meat I now handle is roast beef and ham. Surprizingly, it has the same cold, clammy texture of my penis.
Did you know that there are at least 6 varieties of bread for Subway sandwiches? Only in America....well, that's not true. Worldwide, actually. Enjoy our 6 inch specials and if you insist on a footlong, just ask for the Mandingo.

There was talk a few years ago about making an ADT movie made up of the various industry talent that frequented the board, and paid for by contributions from the ADT fanbase. I think it quickly became apparent, though, that there were too many differing views from the potential financial contributors as to what content should be in the film.
IMO such a scheme would only work if the subscribers just backed off and let the industry folk free to be creative and do what they do best.

Yo! Industry folk! Stop tilting the camera! Do you actually ever look at the finished product? I'll give you $100 to stop!

In which case we're talking about 'same as usual' porn, already available at your favorite retailer for $21.95+shipping. So what's the incentive for a subscriber/investor to pay significantly more than that, if they can't expect a superior product?

I'll throw in another $100 if you lose the wide-angle lens.

Exactly why such schemes are not widespread.
