So, who would you say is the best actor in porn? Male or female, it doesn't matter to me. I'm just wondering who you think could actually pull off a story without any fucking in it? (granted, we'd all prefer to see them fucking regardless, but that's not the question.) Here are my picks for best ACTORS: RANDY SPEARS (easily #1) JESSICA DRAKE BELLADONNA STEVEN ST. CROIX Seriously, if you wanna see Randy's chops, check out my interview with him - this dude is fucking HILARIOUS. (Bree Olson's in the interview, too, and while I don't really think she's a hell of an actress, she sure is awesome at screwin'.)

Totally agree with you about Randy Spears and Steven St. Croix. Those dudes have mad talent! Disagree with you about Jessica Drake - I think she's hot and can bone well, but from what I've seen her dialogue sometimes seems forced, lke she's reading the lines. Haven't seen enough Belladona features to make a call there. My top picks for porn talent that can act: KATIE MORGAN Penny Flame Evan Stone Nick Manning Jenna J. Stormy (and I hate to say it, but he is actually a pretty good actor) Kurt Lockwood
Randy Spears and Evan Stone are the best male actors. Stormy and Jessica Drake are the best female actors. And by "best" I mean consistently good... Randy Spears is probably the only actor I've seen in porn who could have (should have?) been sucessful as a mainstream actor - he's that good.
I agree with ya'll Evan Stone and Randy Spears are good actors, as for as females I agree with Stormy, Jessica Drake, but I also like Jesse Jane and Janine.
Randy Spears is probably the best actor working in porn today. Evan Stone has personality, but is mostly just suited for comedy roles. As for the women, I don't know if any currently working have any acting ability. All in all, the acting ability these days can't compare to those of yesteryear.

Eva Angelina is pretty good actually. Randy Spears is the obvious choice for those still working. I think the best ever would have to be John Leslie and Georgina Spelvin.
My vote would be for Stormy Daniels, Randy Spears, and Steven St. Croix as those with the best acting skills in the biz. Comedy is hard, but these guys pull it off and make it look effortless. Also, Evan Stone ranks highly in my book when he is playing a tongue in cheek (no puns inteneded) role like he did in "Pirates" and "Space Nuts". Can't wait to see him in "Operation: Tropical Stormy".
Since all the recent talent has been covered, I'll go back to the first great stars... Actors: John Leslie (best actor this industry will probably ever see) Paul Thomas Bobby Astyr Jamie Gillis Richard Bolla Eric Edwards Ron Jeremy Roger Caine Jack Wrangler Richard Pachecco Actresses: Kelly Nichols (best actress this industry will probably ever see) Veronica Hart Georgina Spelvin Lisa DeLeeuw Samantha Fox Juliet Andersen Sharon Mitchell Vanessa Del Rio (great comedic lightweight when given the opportunity)
I worked with Steven St. Croix. He is a very good actor and could do mainstream, Steven is a great guy to be around, as well as being very talented. Kim Chambers and Donita Dunes blew me away with there acting ability. They are so natural on camera. Both have mainstream talent. On the other side of the pond, Dora Venter and Lisa Rose stick out in my mind. They both did a fantastic job of acting for me. TK
I agree on Spears & St. Croix. Disagree on Jessica Drake. Don't think there's anything natural about her. I like Janine, Alicia Rio, Chasey Lain, Asia Carrera, Ashlyn Gere, Nikki Dial, and some other 90s gals... Eva Angelica comes to mind as far as today's actresses go, but i haven't seen her in any features... can anyone recommend?
When it comes to greatest actors of all time, I think John Leslie is the obvious number one, with Jamie Gillis in a close number two. I'd also second Steven St. Croix for his performance in "Dog Walker" alone. He should've won every acting award handed out that year. When it comes to females, I have to rank Veronica Hart at the very top (the female John Leslie), followed by Annette Haven, Georgina Spelvin, and the great Marilyn Chambers.
I'm often surprised by the quality of acting in most features, the problem is that I can never remember their names (especially the men). However I always though my favourites Asia carerra and Kaylani Lei are good.

IMHO Jeanna Fine and Jamie Gillis were the two finest actors ever to work in adult. It's much harder to find good people today because the industry is geared towards scenes rather than movies. In many instances, features are now the bottom of the barrel. Performers who are strictly interested in the money can make more turning down features and doing two or three gonzo/net scenes a day. That being said, there are some people in the industry right now who love getting to do some real work, and are willing to put in the extra time, effort and energy to commit to a serious project. Hillary, obviously, is an excellent actor. When I read her for Corruption I really wasn't expecting much and she blew us away. Eva and Derrick both busted their asses on Upload and I was really happy with the work they did. There are other performers you wouldn't necessarily think of who have not only the drive, but a very natural quality; We're moving forward with The Blood of Virgins as a strictly mainstream horror film, but I'm keeping Sandra Romain as Elizabeth Bathory because her read was just amazing. Other people I just haven't had a chance to use in anything major yet but who have done really remarkable auditions are Lorelei Lee, Amber Rayne, Roxy DeVille, Kimberly Kane and Trinity Post.

You are? Nice! When does production start on that? Also, Eli, I asked Bo but never got a response, how did you folks at SEXZ find MIPTV? Did you have any success finding distribution outlets for your softcore versions? Back to the thread. I still am surprised that I'm the only one who gave props to Katie Morgan. That chick is a fantastic actress!
I would also second Roxy DeVille. She was good in her brief performance in Briana Love: Her Fine Sexy Self and I look forward to seeing more of her.

Belladonna Gina Ryder Jewel Denyle Katin Penny Flame Sophie Dee Taylor St. Claire The best one to me is Taylor. She always was so funny and convincing in her roles. Penny is great too. I tend to watch much more gonzo than feature stuff though so I'm not a real good judge of this of course.
I have no idea how to answer this question. When do you see these people act? Do you mean you do not ffw through the two-sentence dialogue parts? Or can you judge acting talent from lines like "knock knock. I heard there were some troubles with zhe kable, miss?"
i always thought Shanna Mccullough was pretty good for the times , the dawn of the one day wonders . Nina Hartly , kelly Nichols as well . best pairing-two fine actors , Veronica Hart and John Leslie.
I'm sorry, I probably revealed that I'm not too familiar with all the kinds of porn out there, and it didn't work that good as a joke either. I'll check out Upload which was mentioned here (I love Eva Angelina too) and if there's any movies that have some good sex and good acting I could sure use some pointers. Edit: the lack of a "not" make a whole post unintelligble. Edited by - JohnW on 7/6/2008 6:50:17 PM
If you don't mind older titles, I'd check out classics with John Leslie, Jamie Gillis, Paul Thomas, Georgina Spelvin and other actors/actresses mentioned in this thread as many attempted to make a movie with sex in it. If you don't like older titles movies like Upload, Corruption, Black Worm, Succubus and other modern movies also offer a nice combination of sex and real plot. These are just limited examples of what's out there. Searching through various threads in this forum will also allow you to find other titles.

If any of these people could "act", they would not be doing porn. Acting may look easy, but that is only true when "real actors" are performing.
That's a statement you can't really support. Sure, most people in XXX movies can't act but you can't just deny the acting ability of someone because they work in porn. Again, look no further than the likes of John Leslie! He is an outstanding ACTOR by any standards.

Yes I can. The original question was:..."I'm just wondering who you think could actually pull off a story without any fucking in it?" The answer is no one!
Well, again I have to disagree. Just because many talented actors in X rated movies aren't given the opportunities to appear in non porn films doesn't mean they wouldn't be good in them. Check out Veronica Hart's (under her real name Jane Hamilton) outstanding performance in Chuck Vincent's R Rated thriller Deranged. Kelly Nichols is great in her small role in The Toolbox Murders. Jerry Butler, Jamie Gillis, and Ron Jeremy have been given a few opportunities to appear in non-X films and have most certainly held their own!
To begin with, I feel that all the ones I listed today can (John Leslie, Jamie Gillis, Paul Thomas, Georgina Spelvin and Randy Spears) and this isn't a complete list throughout the history of adult cinema.
And I can see Evan Stone pulling off a mainstream career. Are you telling me you couldn't see him as a henchman for Dr. Evil?

Acting is a profession. Not some kind of game. To be good requires study and years of refining the craft. I suggest that the fanboy should set aside their porn for a couple of hours and go watch a real movie with real actors and see how it is done.

I would say a fanboy is someone who shoots off their mouth with no real knowledge of what they're talking about, like you're doing here. I don't think anyone is saying these actors are De Niro (but then De Niro hasn't been De Niro for decades either), but if you actually watched any of the performances Flash and John Lyons have mentioned with an open mind you would be surprised. But from your responses I doubt you'd be open minded enough to change your view regardless. As already mentioned, several of the actors and actresses mentioned did do legit work as well, it was the fact that they did porn that prevented them from getting other work. They may not have been the next Brando but I think several of them could have had decent, if minor, mainstream careers. Look at the successful careers of shitty actors like Keanu or Ah-nold for christ's sake.
I agree with that as much as I believe it applies to making music, painting pictures or writing books. You either have a natural ability or you don't. Study and years of refining won't make someone who sucks good. In fact I feel that often study can destroy natural talent. Years of practice, or refining, can help if you already have the skill, but it can't give someone something they don't have. Just because choice, or circumstances, made some actors and actresses work in the adult cinema doesn't mean that they don't have any talent in acting. Hell to be honest that I think that convincingly make the viewer think they are enjoying themselves is often an acting feat, with cameras around, lights on you, a director telling you to cut and change places.

Yes, take any Randy Spears performance, for example, and I guarantee it beats many shitty performances from mainstream actors in mainstream movies. An example: Denise Richard's performance in the James Bond movie - it completely sucked! Yet, she is still considered a "real" actress

Traci Lords aside, there is not one porn performer that has had more than a cameo/walk-on role in legitimate theater or movie. You don't go from high school to retail to stripping to porn, with hooking as a possible side job & become a good actor. Period. You go from acting school/college. You commit yourself to years of low paying acting jobs. You are either auditioning for new roles and going to more acting classes. Maybe after all that, you get to make enough money to maybe support yourself. And maybe, just maybe, you meet with some success. And to repeat the OP, not one person listed in this thread or any of the other similar threads that have cropped up here at ADT over the years, would ever be able to carry a production if no fucking were involved. Not only is the fanboy set totally clueless to what acting really is, they have little or no reading comprehension. Oh and BTW, when Jerry Butler was last seen he was driving a cab Edited by - Clam Digger on 7/7/2008 12:29:57 AM

How about Jenna Jameson in the recent Zombie Strippers? Or Ron Jeremy in Orgasmo or The Boondock Saints? Or Katie Morgan in the upcoming Zack and Miri Make a Porno? All legitimate movies, all substantial roles within the movies ("more than a cameo or walk-on") by porn performers.
Clam Digger, are you an actor? Have you ever been an actor or an aspiring actor?

At this point I am going to bow out of this as it is not a conversation but just you repeating your opinion over and over again. Obviously nothing is going to change what you have decided is right so more conversation on this is pointless. I do have one question though, why are you bothering to post in this forum if you are against the belief that adult stars can act. And when you go enjoy your next 'good movie' you should look up the acting school/college along with the continuing acting education of everyone involved in the cast to make sure they meet your calibur as I suspect you will find the majority of the actors and actresses in it won't meet your standards for acting either and you'll save yourself from having to watch so many people who can't act to your standards.

Well that sure was a great source...The original Broadway production of The Pajama Game was in 1954. And she was no where near the cast let alone playing the lead. If you knew anything about Broadway you would have fallen over laughing when you first read that link. [url=421608]The original Broadway production opened on May 13, 1954 and closed on November 24, 1956 after 1,063 performances. It was directed by George Abbott and Jerome Robbins and featured choreography by Bob Fosse. The original cast included John Raitt, Janis Paige, Eddie Foy, Jr., Carol Haney, and Stanley Prager. Untrue, and Traci ain't a great actress my friend. In fact, she's pretty awful. Do actors who work in porn OFTEN GET opportunities to appear in other things? No, no one is denying that, but you can't ignore LEGITIMATE, non X rated low budget films which have featured these people in starring roles. Sure, Steven Spielberg might never have cast Paul Thomas but Norman Jewison sure did! Whether you wanna consider filmmakers like Rugerio Deodatto, Chuck Vincent, and Anthony Spinelli "legitimate" enough to consider the NON PORN films that they made which star porn actors "real movies" is completely your own decision. But you can't ignore them and the fact that they provide ample opportunity to see porn actors ACT, and act well. Again I'll bring up Vincent's Derenaged. Shot like a play, the film is almost non-stop dialogue delivered by the obviously untalented by simple virtue of their professions Veronica hart (who has about 75% of the lines in the film), Jerry Butler, and Jamie Gillis! Or take a look at Anthony Spinelli's It's Called Murder Baby where John Leslie is in the lead role, Lisa De Leeuw is the main actress (and is great as an over the hill movie queen), and both Juliet Anderson and Kelly Nichols co-star! Or less "legit" is Andy Milligan's soap opera Fleshpot on 42ns St. starring Harry Reems in an outstanding performance. Sure, I'm picking specific films to highlight the abilities of these people because there sadly aren't many which do feature porn actors in non-X roles. But based on these few films you can't possibly deny that some, maybe not even many X rated film actors are very talented actors! Until you say that you've seen all three of the above mentioned films and found the performances to be universally terrible, your point is moot.
That's because every single "real" actor ever went to acting school and every "real" painter went to art school, and every "real" filmmaker went to film school, and every "real" author has a degree in creative writing. Sure, that's the way it works in the "real" world.
