Sasha Grey To Appear on 'Tyra Banks Show' By Peter Warren and AVN.com
HOLLYWOOD - Adult performer Sasha Grey, a recently announced contender for AVN's coveted Best New Starlet Award, will be taping an appearance on popular afternoon talk program "The Tyra Banks Show" today.
The theme for this episode of the show, hosted by supermodel-turned-TV-personality Tyra Banks, is to be teens working in the sex industry, according to Mark Spiegler, Grey's agent. Spiegler also informed AVN.com that he's been contacted by entertainment news show "Entertainment Tonight" about Grey's appearance on "Banks."
The airing date of the show has not yet been announced.
Teens working in the sex industry, huh? Sounds like sexploitation to me.
The key word is 'taping.' If the show isn't broadcast live then the producers can cut it up to suit their purposes. Given that I doubt Banks and crew can fit Sasha into their desired mold of victim, I wouldn't be at all surprised to see that she doesn't appear in the show that actually makes it to television.
Yep, yep, yeah. I understood going in that I would be judged and I was more than prepared...every time I answered a question, they would cut me off, cut to a break, or say "this is hard for me". I had the opportunity to say a lot of powerful things; including the fact that I may not change everyone's mind, but even if I reach one, two or three people that would make a difference. Today a young woman from the audience sent me a message on myspace, a very positive one at that. I challenge anyone to put me on live tv...they never will because my words will always be stronger than editing. They also had fucking Dr. Drew from that show lovline and that guy is a complete joke...even on a lovline episode the almighty Nina Hartley once informed him that anal sex doesn't have to cause a prolapsed ass hole if you take the right steps...and of course they ended the show with an unnamed ex-porn star hooker tried to throw that in my face! Just think about most cliches of this business and that was this girl, and they tried to compare our lives...bah humbug. I would gladly do it again and again because I believe strongly in what I do,
After the rabble-rousing she was given in that LA magazine, she'll stick to her guns (and hopefully the Shylock will assist) in making sure that any contracts for an appearance on the show make sure that such condition DO NOT happen, no?
This will be fun, esp. after the whole Tyra Banks (of porn name fame) incident in years passed.
The interview Sasha did with that online site was really well-done ... pro-sex all the way. But you can't do any serious profile of anyone without dealing with the "why? why? why?" – what makes Sammy run and all that. The problem is when you speak so entirely for your subject that the subject becomes a social construct instead of a person.
Sasha u are really making your mark in this business. How mainstream is chasing after u Los Angeles Magazine is right u are the next Jenna, but in a hardcore nasty way. At this rate you'll have your own reality show. Go Best New Starlet.
P.S. U were the perfect pornstar to shut Tyra the fuck up because when Tyra Banxx was on there she mad our job look like it was nothing. She doesn't know how to express herself the way that you do.
It's interesting how Tyra's show holds up young girls to a very narrow vision of acceptable beauty. Funny that porn is much more forgiving ... despite the fake-boob cliches. She was doing some show on lesbians once, and the friend of a friend was on. Apparently, she was not allowed to go on the way she really is, which is kinda butch. She had to wear heels and get girly makeup to suit Tyra's idea of feminity. Hilarious.
I wonder if Oprah is as bad. (The only time I saw porn on her show, it was something about spicing up your marriage).
Good on you Sasha - its fucking awesome that another girl is ready to take the next step in this business. It's fucked up that they invite you onto the show and don't let you speak your mind, fucked up but unfortunately predictable. I bet Tyra condesended you constantly and tried to make you feel bad about what you do. As a 24 year old guy I think it's awesome that someone younger has the direction, guts and brains to make a choice and aim for the top. You've got a massive future ahead of you & yeah the new Jenna but way hardcore and way nasty I've always thought of you like a new Taylor Rain but with more potential because of your drive (sorry Taylor)
For however long she was a model, Tyra's job was to look pretty for the camera. Her requisite job skills were to look good in skimpy clothing, have cleavage, keep her teeth ultra-white, avoid getting into catfights with Kate Moss, and not to gain too much weight. She was one of the lucky few for whom her physical attributes afforded her a very nice lifestyle doing little more than a plaster mannequin.
The unfortunate truth, however, is that she has absolutely nothing to say. It is painful watching someone trying to be hip. Watching her show is almost as painful as watching Magic Johnson's late night talk show.
In a few years, long after anyone cares about what Tyra looks like naked, she will pose for Playboy, like so many before her. She will claim that she is "finally able to summon the courage to have the world see me for who I really am." She will not tell what Hef paid her, nor will she admit that she will have, herself, entered the world of pornography - granted, on the soft side, but nude modeling in a spank magazine is porn.
It is a shame that she does not recognize the brave new world that today's teen super-porn-stars are creating. Mia Rose is amazing - so young and so business and world savvy. She follows in the footsteps of Teagan, Cris Taliana and others who have made the choice to use porn to become famous and rich.
I hope we'll get a "heads-up" when this show airs...I'd love to see Tyra get in a tizzy when Sasha doesn't conform to her pre-conceived notions about porn, etc.

She has porn performers on her show to "save" them from the industry, but she is happy for the ratings boost and interest that those appearances bring. it's titillating, it's sensational, oh won't someone think of the children
There are many different roads to famous and others towards rich. I do not know the financial status of any of the ladies you mentioned, only that they made the choice to venture out into the world, using porn as their shot towards wealth and fame.
The reason I chose Cris Taliana and Yeagan is that they were the first two that came into my mind when thinking about which starlets made that choice when they were 17-years old and went to work as soon as possible after their 18th birthday.
I think far more 17-year-olds who decide to do porn are motivated by boredom and laziness, actually. Or their drug habits. And it's a very fucked-up idea. But a few are really sharp about it and have a handle on the steering wheel.

According to Tyra's website this wednesday's show will be called "A Day in the Life of a Porn Star" and will feature Jessica Drake and Savannah. There is a video preview of it on the site. Looks like she really likes to talk about porn.
lol that's one of the funniest things iv heard. just tyra as a supermodel has done waaaaay more work than these porn whores. not to even mention the work she does for both her shows and how she plays a big part not just on screen but behind the scenes as well, that's most people tho with these talk shows. they don't just show up and film, they're there from morning till prolly a couple hours after filming. definitely anyone with a daily talk show is more than likely a workaholic. not tryin to defend tyra, actually would come into to the togos i worked at awhile back frequently cause the cbs building where they film is across the street and she's a strait up bitch, but when i hear a ridiculous statement like that then i either gotta say somethin or hold myself back from lettin it out.

At the end of the preview she said, "is there a way out". I can tell she gone turn this show into pity party for pornstars. It looks like she is attacking the "single mom" with the black hair. Just saw the piece. Great job, Sasha! Typically over-the-top treatment of the subject (well, this is Entertainment Tonight after all), and the "intervention" by Doctor 90210 was over-dramatic. You really held your own against the fear-mongering questions. You came across as confident and self-assured. Good stuff.
I just saw the Sasha interview on tonight's The Insider. They said it was their "In depth" story of the show but it lasted only 2 minutes. They first spoke about the fact that Sasha's mother tried to make her quit the business over thanksgiving. Then a "celebrity" doctor named doctor 90210 confronted her about the health risks of this industry. It was funny how they ended the segment. The doctor tells her he has only one more question for her, he then takes a dramatic pause and asks "will you quit the industry?" Then Sasha without any hesitation says no.

It's funny how you came off as more comfortable and stoic then the reporter, or that soap opera Dr. Phil "celebrity doctor" guy they dragged in. And the saga continues apparently. I watched this show and it tried to make every girl look like a victim. What I however want to know is what is wrong with Sharon Mitchell? A few more years and we might be starring at Joan Rivers.
