Well, I guess I will put in my 2 cents here. I've been a porn fan for a long while now (started renting VHS tapes and buying mags when I was about 15 back in the mid-80's...no one ever carded me), but I have never been to a convention or signing or actually met a porn star face to face.
Not that I am not a "fanboy" when it comes to certain stars and not that I don't think it might be cool to meet some of my faves and just let them know how much I like them, but the opportunity never presented itself. I believe the only way I will see any star in person is if I happen to run into them in a grocery store or something...I guess it could happen as it seems a number of stars are using Arizona as a home base.
But there is the fact that I mostly want to keep this part of my life a fantasy, so even if I did happen to see a star at a grocery store, that is not a situation in which I would approach them. I'd feel shy and awkward and wouldn't want to put them in a difficult situation. I'd probably just start a thread here with a title like: "Hold Shit! I saw *PoRn StAr'S nAmE hEre* at the Grocery Store"
I think one reason I really appreciate ADT is that I get to read posts from some of my fave stars and find out a little about them. Stereotypes are always to be taken with a grain of salt, but they have a way of perpetuating themselves in even the most otherwise open minds when said minds are not in direct contact with the cast-typed persons. (Please tell me that made some sense). Anyway, I guess my point is (I have a point!?) that you cannot truly KNOW someone simply by watching them on-screen or by merely reading their posts or even by meeting them briefly, but you CAN know that porn stars are likely as diverse as engineers or janitors, for example. OK. Speaking for porn fans who have no life, I am one. I am surely not a normal one as I do not follow porn stars all over the country or things of that nature (I am in Delaware after all) There is a place nearby that has stars doing signings and I have met Shayla Laveaux, Jewel De'Nyle, Kylie Ireland, Sydnee Steele, & Carmen Luvana. Kylie Rey is the antithesis of all those porn stereotypes. If ever there were a performer who was the-sweet-little-sister-you-never-had - it was Kylie, who is no longer active.
