I don't like the title of that movie. It's wrong. Regards, Rump. [Link] |

| RonK Big Double Everything Fan Poor Turkey running for her life with Christmas Hat 3713 Posts 9/01 | The purpose of the title is to sell videos and if the producers believe that being PC will bring more sales, they will be PC. If being obnoxious brings more sales, then being obnoxious is it. Simply a business decision. Anabolic clearly believes that the non-PC title will increase sales of comp stuff. I avoid all of Anabolic comp stuff because I will probably have all the scenes I want from the original releases. Anyway, comps should be priced accordingly and I do not buy comps at full price. Note: this video should be sold for half the asking price because we have already made our profit from these scenes, but we want to maximize profit and so will ask the full price. Needless to say, this title will not sell well and the buyers will demand a discount. Ron |

| dumblonde Senior Member 2352 Posts 7/00 | "Anabolic clearly believes that the non-PC title will increase sales of comp stuff. " That must be it, but if true, I think it's pretty sad. Just from a business standpoint, I really think they're wrong about this, however. Since these and similar titled compilations all feature a particular star, most of the buyers are going to be fans of hers. Granted, most fans will buy it anyway, but as one member told me "I don't like the title, but it is Tricia afterall." And it's not only Tricia, but many other female stars have gotten the same treatment. Take J & M Productions aka: Filthy Whore series. Tera Patrick, who has enormous mainstream appeal, has had the My Plaything in the top ten price searches here for as long as I can remember. A compilation of her scenes would sell extremely well, but a lot of people are not going to touch something calling her a Filthy Whore. It's insulting, to the actress and to her fans. |
| Joey Starr Senior Member Still wanking after all these years. 8082 Posts 10/00 | It's the association of the words " A Cum Sucking Whore" with "Named Tricia Deveraux" that raises questions, notwithstanding the fact that Tricia Deveraux is a screen name. It's all in very poor taste, but hey it's porn what do you expect? The main problem I have with this is that Anabolic should have asked Tricia if she was OK with the title of this compilation, apparently they did not. |
| Hardware All-Star Member Your other left 14595 Posts 3/02 | __________________________________________________________________________ I agree that there's a market there for the type of attitude expressed by that title, but to suggest that it's the only one is wrong. In fact, there's a substantial number of porners who are offended by any woman being denigrated in the title or the action portrayed. |
| momojames Member 9 Posts 4/01 | BTW there are alot of worse named titles out there, that are offensive to men, women and one's race or nationality. p.s. Is just the word "whore" where the problem lies? I mean is'nt there cock sucking in the vid? are there facial cumshots? Edited by - momojames on 11/4/2002 1:43:02 PM |

| P-Knuckle Member 309 Posts 11/01 | What Anabolic did though was make it personal by using the performers name after the improper tag line. Its tacky, as is titles like 'tera patirck aka filthy whore,' and other such titles. But then again, this is porn. Do we really expect it to be any less offensive? I don't. Search by disgusting names; Using vile language to describe women in porn is as typical as the money shot and pretty much the same as I see it. They both are examples of degradation, which is quite popular thematically. Its only when porn viewers make a emotional connection to a performer that we start to realize that its kinda nasty. Tricia is a popular person on here, so we all feel slighted. This is because we see her as more than a sexual object; but no one has complained about any other title name and I have seen many a performer called some despicable things here at ADT (a particular performer was called a 'skank' by 'someone' in the forum, I find it peculiar that this 'someone' has issues with Tricia being labeled a 'whore.') Thats hypocritical; we either respect all women and men in the industry or stop nit-picking on one title... I can't remember the thread heading, and I can't get the search to work, but it was in World News I think. But are you seriously suggesting that calling someone, who isn't even a member, a skank in As for Evil Angel, they do not name a performer in the title, and I don't think Tricia had |
| tricia_devereaux Evil Angel DVD Patience is a virtue, but who wants to be virtuous? 4283 Posts 4/00 | You're right, though, there have been some questionable titles from Evil Angel. I voice my opinions fairly loudly, but all in all, I'm just an employee. Funny how the Fashion Sluts bothers me, but Fresh Meat never has. Go figure. We even have a recent one where the tagline is "Bitches, they come, they go." I protested quite a bit, but it wasn't my decision to let it go. |

| lindi Senior Member 12345 3205 Posts 9/02 | As far as the word 'whore' goes, it is generally derogatory. Any one of us could be in a car wreck tomorrow and lose our spouse, end up paralyzed, an amputee, or with burns over 70% of our bodies. If that ever happens to you, you will call prostitutes angels, not whores. There are legions of people for whom prostitutes are a lifeline to feel validated and whole. Whether the act of prostitution is 'dirty' or not depends on what's on you guys' minds. Prostitutes are perhaps less lucky than porn stars, but I fail to see why any sex worker should feel superior to, or insulted to be compared to, another. |
| P-Knuckle Member 309 Posts 11/01 | I still stand by my remark that we either respect all members of the porn community or stop nit picking on the titles. My point about the skank remark is that we are responsible for the names and labels we give performers, and when they are based out of stereotypes over looks rather than merit, it becomes rather ridiculous. And I do think it shows a level of bias when you can call a performer a 'skank' based on her looks and then can be upset when a performer is labeled a 'whore.' I am of the opinion that BOTH comments are ABSURD and come from a thinking pattern that women who love sex are somehow 'dirty.'

| dumblonde Senior Member 2352 Posts 7/00 | There IS a double-standard unfortunately. What is the male equivalent of 'whore' or 'slut'? There isn't a word in the English language for such a thing, and it's a shame that it's commonly used to describe women who enjoy sex. Someone asked if there's cock sucking depicted - so does that mean women who suck cock are thought of as whores? And Cal, please, I almost choked on my morning coffee! A Cum Sucking Whore is a COMPLIMENT? Maybe I should go back to bed... is it me? what is this love/hate thing all about? i really think this attitude will end up hurting more than just the performers, when it starts spilling over into everyday relationships. "well, looks like ill have to go ahead with an evil angelology: tricia devereaux! !!!!! | snowden porn Member London 648 Posts 11/01 | To be completely honest, if Anabolic continued this line (which i don't think they will - the last release was in 2000) and came up with a "cum sucking whore named Shyla" I would buy it. Not because I'm a sick fuck who gets off on these titles but because I like the performer. I couldn't give a shit what the title was. But I do understand where everyone is coming from and understand how performers can't exactly be proud of having their name alongside such a title. I think Anabolic just like 'shock tactics'. I've noticed Anabolic/Diabolic constantly refer to Lexington Steele as 'The Black Bastard' - Is this respectful? Maybe Lex is OK with this alias, maybe Lex even thought it up! either way it doesn't bother me - just as long as he keeps performing. |

| dumblonde Senior Member 2352 Posts 7/00 | Anyway, at first I was of the opinion that actresses who signed to do them shouldn't complain, but Steph explained that they were all comps, and therefore the actresses didn't have any say in the matter. That's even worse, and makes a BIG difference to me. So, the only reason I wrote up the Tricia comp is because I wanted to see it, but it applies to anyone as far as I'm concerned. I realize Cal444 doesn't pick the names, though his *Nice Ladies That Enjoy Intercourse* suggestion is a hoot, and would be even more shocking in the sea of smut. At any rate, he has his hands full elsewhere on the board ;-) I just wanted to voice my opinion and maybe get them to think about how this is perceived. From replies in this thread, even among the people who are ambivalent, I didn't hear anyone say that this is actually a *selling point*, or that they wouldn't buy a comp of their favorite star with a less *shocking* title, so I would think a better title would benefit everyone, the studio, the star, and the fans. |

| tbone Member 18 Posts 3/02 | Another question for Tricia: I assume that you get no residuals, etc., from any of these compilations you're beginning to appear on - or the badly named one? Or is there some provision in any of your past contracts for that? |
| tricia_devereaux Evil Angel DVD Patience is a virtue, but who wants to be virtuous? 4283 Posts 4/00 | actually, except for a VERY FEW of the contract stars (people like Jenna Jameson or maybe Juli Ashton), no porn girls get residuals for ANY of the movies we do. It's just the way it's been done for years and years, and we're used to it. Instead, the business-wise girls take their newly-found fame and make money off of it by feature dancing around the nation (or world) and selling their videos and merchandise to fans. I'm not worried about studios making extra money off of me. It keeps my name out there in the public. But Steph and blondie are right about us not knowing ahead of time exactly what the content or theme of comps will be. Heck, even with the normal videos, alot of times they got changed before release. |

lowest common denominator... |
| Learned Hand Member 175 Posts 2/06 | Another poster pointed out that "Cum sucking whore" would have been an ok name for a movie. The difference is that a title there clearly refers to the role that the girl plays rather than to the actress herself. When the actresses name is in the title we are clearly no longer talking about a role that, however questionably, could be called fiction. Now we are directly degrading the actress. It is the difference between discussing "Pretty Woman" and saying "Julia Roberts played such a skank" and "Julia Roberts is such a skank." I am down for all sorts of hardcore, raincoater action. Nonetheless, the first time I saw one of those Cum sucking Whore titles, I was put off a lot. Even now they make me uncomfortable. I don't think it is appropriate. |
