Have you seen any volumes in this series?

Your thoughts and reactions?

Any recommendations or anti-recommendations regarding particular volumes and why?

Thanks in advance!

Bob, I avoid Bodilis like the plague, like I said in this thread. Maybe it's his approach to hetero and lesbian sex (he's gay) but his scenes always look mechanical and cold to me.

Bob,

Based on your previous posts, I believe that interaction between the performers and an emphasis on chemistry is very important to you. I would guess that you would sense little of this from Bodilis' movies. I can understand how some viewers could find his scenes to be mechanical and cold; this is a common comment made about stylish European porn.
I know that Joey watches a lot of European porn (I don't), so he apparently does not feel this way about other European porn directors.

My attraction to Bodilis' movies stems from the women's appearance and attire. The women always look beautiful, are very nicely made up, and are typically wearing elegant lingerie and stockings. If it were easy to find this in American porn, I would not have any interest in his movies, especially considering their relatively high price and frequently poor lighting.

According to the box cover, the most recent volume of the Pornochic series appears to have been directed by someone else. I have not seen this volume.

He also directs a series called The Russian Institute; I have the first volume. It has the same strengths and weaknesses as his other movies, but makes a stronger attempt at telling a story.

There are several accurate and helpful reviews of his movies here at ADT.

Bob, I've been meaning to check out the volume starring Katsumi. When I get a chance to watch it, I'll post my impressions.

Bob,

I agree with Walter. While the girls are stuning to look at, you will not sense any chemistry in the movies.

Thanks, all!

AVN gave the volume starring Katsumi -- the one, I gather, from the new director -- a glowing review. Because I'm a huge Katsumi fan (she makes me huge ), my interest was piqued.

Walter -- You're right, chemistry is very important to me, and I tend to find most imported Euro porn to be cold (with notable exceptions, such as Christoph Clark's movies). Hopefully this non-Bodilis, Katsumi volume is "warmer" than past entries in the series.

Pagoda -- I'd love to hear your impressions of the Katsumi volume. If I can find the video to rent before you do, I'll give it a whirl and post my reactions.

Pornochic 12: Katsumi was directed by Herve Bodilis; Pornochic 13 was directed by someone else, according to CAVR.

I have volume 12 but have not watched it; I just scanned through it briefly a few moments ago. It has the typical strengths and shortcomings of movies directed by Bodilis.
He is so frustrating!

Gotcha. I didn't note the director when I read the AVN review or recheck it later against the info in your first post. Thanks for correcting me on this!

I forgot to mention that Pornochic 12 is in French with no subtitles or overdubs. There is so little dialogue that I hardly noticed this and forgot to tell you.

I'm not sure if he is gay, exactly. There's a good interview, if not exactly recent, here:
http://www.ecranlarge.com/interview-184.php

So while he has done gay photography and movies (some with Titof in them), he mentions having had girlfriends and is clearly influenced by the classic Dorcel style from the days of Ricaud, and I've also seen him perform in a Pierre Woodman movie...with a lady no less!

I think Walter's take is pretty spot on - I think his movies are well made, stylish and extremely easy on the eye. There's sometimes more chemistry and energy about the sex than is given credit, though I think this can depend as much on the male performers as anything else. I suspect Woodman's directorial approach also influences Bodilis to some degree in this regard.

I think CAVR is mistaken - I have the disc right here, and Pornochic 13 is "un film de Hervé Bodilis".

Based on all this feedback, even the Katsumi volume has now become a non-rental, non-purchase for me -- unless Pagoda watches it and gushes with praise.

Thanks for your help!

I'm on the same page w everyone else in this thread regarding the cool tone of the series. The girls are Euro-hot, adorned in the most alluring lingerie, stockings, etc. Too bad there is little wild abandonment in their scenes. The only two in the series that I've really enjoyed are "Cristal" and "Sarah", especially the former. The looks of the girls in those two overcame the formulaic production.

The entire series reminds me of the Leg Affair films. For example, in one of the films, Simony Diamond couldn't be any more delectably decked-out while she's getting ass-fucked, but the action takes place in a cold-looking, dark room on an office-type chair, as I recall. Too sterile, for my taste.

They scenes are cold in other ways as well.

I seem to recall that in several of the movies one can actually see everytime the performers breath.

Im a huge fan of his movies. Understand where many of you are coming from though.
Im a stockings lover and the women dont come much prettier than in these productions. I also like the way that most of the scenes end where a woman climax's the man herself (rather than some guy jacking off straight into some womans face that really doesnt want it there!).
I love them all, but understand they are definately an aquired taste.
