Hi, I called a billing site called EPOCH and asked them about using gift cards and they warned me that when u join a site, they make sure u have enough money on you card by charging $ 24.95 for the first month, then pending charges for two months, in case I cancel, i am using a debt card. So from experience what should i be expecting, i was unaware of this practice. Thanks for any help, really appreciated. They say they do thei with debt cards as well. I was thinking about joining Brazzers for just one month. Again, thanks for help in advance. Iam a newbie to all this.

A gift card is not the same as a debit card, and may have different policies of processing by the seller.
I use a debit card (linked to a bank checking account) and always intentionally keep the available balance ridiculously low (normally less than $10 unless I'm about to use the card). I've never had any problem with EPOCH, and have subscribed to EPOCH sites many times, and I'm pretty sure I never had 3 months worth of available balance at the time of subscribing.
It's quite possible gift cards are treated differently.

Epoch told me that even when using the debit card whcih is connected to my checking account that ( just now i called them again) that waht ever one signs up for say one month they take the money for that month and have another month pending and if i cancel before the month is up the second charge does not go thru.
The agent said he does not know why it happens and people have called about it. I see the resolution to be have enough money so that if they have a second charge pending, it will not affect my account so long as i cancel before the month is up.

This is simply not true at all. It would be illegal to do this, because you're only signing up for a month. It's good to protect yourself, because they will automatically try to charge you when your first month is up, but they don't have it pending. You could have the exact amount for one month in your account, and they would still allow you to signup, but you better believe they are going to try to get their money the next month if you don't cancel.
Just sign up if you want to be a member, and instantly cancel as soon as you get your confirmation. This way you don't accidentally forget to cancel later, and you will be told that you can use the site until your membership expires.

Do yourself a favor and everyone else a favor, do not deal with scumbags like this. There are other alternatives out there that offer adult content who are reputable.
People who pull off this type of threatening scam really make me angry.
Do not deal with people like this.
There should be no pending charges when you do not have any item in your possession such as a DVD. When you cancel your membership that should be the end of your involvement with the company provided you do not have any of their property unreturned to them.

If you google EPOCH complaints, you'll find a bunch. I use CCBill. If I'm forced to use anything else, I'll use something that isn't tied to my bank account.

I will not be signing up w/any site that has EPOCH as their billing service in light of the fact that more than one repesentative told me this. I believe the peopel in charge are doing this as entrapment which is not legal. It was going to be a access to see everything at "Pinkvisual live .com" but Iam waliking away form this one.

My hunt now is for a site that doe CC billing. I googled EPOCH and right there as clear as day were the complaints. I feel bad for the un beknowst people they try to get their hands on. Now just have to find a site and work on the downloading aspect, that is new to me. Have not been looking today as 9:38 pm was the first chance i had to get back to this site, actually its the only thing that i looked on the computer for this evening, so thanks to u for your tremoundous help!!!

I saw the googled info u were dead on, right on the mark! Thank u for leading me to this:"Peoples Temple" was good enough to warn me, which i did not take lightly. Looked up what u gave me for info and there the evidence was. I hope mpre people gain the insight i have received out her so they do not get burned as i would have, so iam gratefull to all that have helped me. Alot of good people out here and i hope you people get good things in return for the help.
U mentioned another source, are u referring to thos preload cards? EPOCH said if u use those make sure u put not just one month for $24.95 but 2-3 months, they said (bastards). I think one has to have the cvc # on the back of the card and i never used those preloaded cards so i don't know if they work. Again, thanks for your time and help, it is appreciated. I hope one day i can help everybody out here that help so many. Take Care. I wish u well.

A Walmart MoneyCard pre-load Visa or Mastercard has a 3 digit cvv code just like a regular card. I would pick one up, put 30 bucks on it, and sign up to the site. If it doesn't let me because I don't have 2 months on the card, then I'd say fuck 'em unless I absolutely MUST sign up.

@simon33333: You can research this forever, and you can always find horror stories by disgruntled customers (I even found some about CCBill). But the bottom line is to restrict the available funds, and be preemptive. Use a debit card (not a credit card), keeping your account balance as close to zero as comfortably possible. Even the lowest swindler is powerless to take money which is nonexistent. And if you plan to cancel, do it as soon as possible after getting your membership confirmation. One extra little thing I do is make sure to daily login to the subscribed site during the final days of my subscription, to make sure that my login does indeed get rejected after my time has expired.

You are correct. but in my personal experience, the only times I've had issues with double billing and being charged by people in Azerbaijan and Wherethefuckisthatistan is back when I used companies other than CCBill.

Be careful to not buy a "reloadable" card. They often cost outright less than "gift" cards, but many of them charge monthly fees on you if you hold on to them for 30 days or more.

What iam going to do is this: Get a debit card from a bank that is basically on the same street as the one bank where all my money is attached to the debit card. This new bank will have $10.00 in the account to keep it open (the bank's policy) and then they send me a debt card in ten days, then i will just put into it whatever the site wants for a month. If a porn site tries to do a pending charge it will not go thru, i'll just asked the bank how they handled those types of things. I'll end the membership before the month is up earlier in case i forget. So , if it costs $24.95 a month or whatever just have that there. That should do it. Keep the account open with $10.00. I will tell the bank that if a vendor tries to pull out money put a lock on the account so i do not get a fine. I'll just call it my porn card. Iam not even laughing, Iam serious with that one comment.
