There have been a few discussions on here recently about the downfall of Private, their formulaic / going through the motions scenes, girls not enjoying themselves etc. So, I was wondering what are you favorite movies from this producer, and whether or not any of their newer material is still pushing your buttons.

Cheers

Private use to be on the top like between 1992-1998. I use to love their Private Magazine, Triple-X and Private Film labels. It even became better with the Private Gold label. I didn't like the Private Stories label that much because it was kind of sub-par. I always looked forward to the new Pierre Woodman titles. After 1998 it seemed Private changed their policy, not just for their movies but also for their magazines. They were shooting their movies and magazines in a couples-appeal way, even Woodman's movies. I can't explain it but it was not that hardcore anymore. They also started to hire directors who were shooting way too soft movies like Kovi and Antonio Adamo (not to mention Michael Ninn). Then Woodman left and I thought Private was as good as dead but I changed my opinion after I saw they hired Jean Yves Lecastel himself to direct for them. The Matador and Superfuckers labels were the best labels they had but for reasons unknown to me they killed The Matador label. The Private X-treme label was not that good and now it's finished I think with Jean Yves Lecastel not directing for it anymore. The directors who are shooting now for Private are not the directors I really enjoy. It seems they care more about the production values and story rather than the sex.

I hope they can hire a director of the calibre of Woodman or Le Castel and go back to basic. I think the movie Kruger Park is the way Private should make every movie. I think Kruger Park was the best movie they ever made.

I liked Private pre-Woodman and post-Woodman. Private sure has changed a lot but I still enjoy the movies they produce.

Keep in mind that Private changed ownership a while ago. I think that has had a lot to do with the director changes and strategy.

I'd still take Private over any other company these days. They really do shoot on beautiful video, in nice settings with hot women.

I like the artistic, Euro feel to their movies.

I agree with Saki: new director, new direction. If adlion944 is any example, there is a market and they're reaching it. Unfortunately, I'm not in that market so my favorite movies are older: the Tower series, for example.

They have become a lot softer but I can't deny the fact that Private uses the hottest girls in the world.

Private used to be my favorite overall adult film company. But, for some of the reasons already mentioned, they've fallen downhill.
I like Kovi's films, mainly because of Michelle Wild. But I've yet to see anything from Michael Ninn that's given me wood.
I'm a fan of Jodie Moore so I'll probably keep buying Private's films if she is the star in any given title.
I just hope Private doesn't become another Vivid!!

Personally I do not think Private is in any way in the midst of a downfall. I would agree that there was a time when their overall lineup was stronger, thanks to a young Adamo, Frank Thring & Tanya Hyde. However they are still putting out high quality porn and continue to sign great talent and experiment with new directors.

What are my favorite movie from them?

Hi,
That´s the exact reason why i quit private years ago. I mean i always liked the locations and all, the girls are always pretty but (i think) most of the time you only see them once or twice. The viewer never gets to catch their names (at least in the old days). And since i´m into girls with piercings and tatoos that was another reason not to watch private anymore. Maybe thy changed that ... i don´t know. I see private titles all along in those shops i visit but for me they look all the same

I agree that Kovi is still good but these Adamo films seem to be take an arty-farty, soft-focus, stuck-up-their-own-arse (philosophy grads take note), porn-as-art type of approach.

Image seems to have become everything at Private and they seem keen on becoming a lifestyle brand; I feel this is pervading their films as well as their own brand soft drinks.

I still wonder why Jean Yves Lecastel is not directing for them anymore. Was it because he was too hardcore for Private? I really miss The Matador serie. It use to be one of my favorite serie.

I don't understand this claim that Private is "less hardcore". They still have gapes and facials. They've always included storyline features (didn't someone mention the Tower series?) Steve Holmes, please straighten these people out. In my opinion, except for the dubbing into english, Private is getting better.

Sue, I think it's a matter that these days Private seems to be concentrating on telling stories, and having everything look stylish, unlike in the past, when the emphasis was more on the sex scenes only. Older movies had some style, and often some story, but not at the expense of really long scenes, in long movies. Now there is still some raunchy sex, but the scenes are shoter, and the movies are shorter, and the actual sex seems to take up a smaller % of the movie than it used to.

For some people, this shift in balance is an improvement, for others a detriment. I have very little interest in style or story, but Aybesea, for example, is quite pleased with the new direction. So I'm trying to say it is neither good nor bad (it's all up to individual point of view), but it is definitely different.

Dear SueR,

I'm probably the least knowledgeable person in this forum for that question. Participating in a movie and watching the final result after post production is two very different things.

Speelie, you speak for me correctly. I personally love the current Private mix of beautiful girls, lavish sets and wardrobes, and reasonably hardcore sex. That's not to say that I like all of the series equally. I really like most of the Adamo, much of the Kovi and Del Mar, and some of the Roccaforte. The only material from Private that is really disappointing me on a regular basis is the Le Castel stuff.

I used to watch a lot of Private 6 or 7 years ago because they were pretty much the only company that cared about their male performers'look (and stopped for much the same reason, when they stopped caring).
I only have good words to say about 2funky4U, the 1st real hi-quality 3-D art anime as far as I know, if only that they are precursors in that area, and I sure hope they'll keep up with the idea.

i should be so lucky, lucky lucky lucky
