Here's a shot that I took this past March of 42nd St itself... shot from 8th Ave. down toward 7th Ave. (7th is where the main Times Square area is----which is the area that Galento's most recent photo above appears to be of--that's even different now, btw, as much of it has been cordoned off for foot traffic as a sort of sit-down, outdoor "park".). 42nd St -- March, 2012: ![]() Just for fun, here's a shot that I took of what's left of the "Show World Center" (8th Ave. and ~42nd St), which apparently used to feature everything from X-rated videos up through live sex shows in a multi-level "circus" atmosphere. It was apparently quite popular. People like Joey Silvera, Jamie Gillis, Sharon Mitchell, Vanessa Del Rio, etc. all worked there in one form or another... ![]() [The red circle is where I believe that it _was_ (plus basements), the yellow circle is what's left (plus basements), and the purple arrow shows what I believe to be a remnant of it above the Laugh Factory -- which I hear is closed and something else is in there now. This photo was also taken in March, essentially turning-around and shooting from where the first photo was taken.] (In this link, you can see more photos of the old Show World Center and read a bit about what happened to it.) That is, provided that it hasn't moved locations on that small stretch of street. (EDIT: I take it back... Modell's must have moved over time. The Victory is on the opposite side of the street) Edited by - fu_q on 6/16/2012 10:22:16 AM |

The theater re-opened on April 17, 2000 as the entrance to the AMC Empire 25 cineplex." ![]() *Small bit of trivia -- the first movie that I saw in NYC was at that theater -- Frank Miller's "Sin City" (April, 2005)... the place has level-upon-level of theaters... never been in another like it before nor since. | CummingLinguist All-Star Member 5908 Posts 11/11 | I used to frequent the theaters in Times Square. Some of them felt much safer than others, and Show World and Show Follies were among the safest. I had the impression that they were owned by the same people, and some of the stars would dance at one, walk to the other, and perform there. Show Follies was much smaller than Show World, and I preferred the more intimate setting. At both, most of the girl's offered $1 titty gropes, and a few allowed a little fingering. Live sex shows were often on the menu. One of the couples that frequently performed at both went on stage with a dildo, and sometimes they would allow a patron to use it on the lady. Occasionally, this would become a pseudo-gangbang, in which her "co-star" would fuck her, while selected patrons could grope her. A lot of the patrons would openly masturbate. I never witnessed physical contact between patrons, and the girls would only rarely touch a patron's cock. The more intimate setting at the Follies meant that these informal rules were more likely to be broken there, and one of the strippers fucked me while the others patrons watched. She went on to suck off some of the other guys, but I don't remember ever seeing any other patrons have actual sex there. I only went to the Victory once. A skinny little crack whore sat down next to me, flirted a bit, and started to suck my cock without my consent. As I was telling her to stop, I noticed her hand reaching into my pocket and pulling out some cash. We eventually had a dispute in the lobby during which she threw my money on the ground. As I said, I only went there once. |

| CummingLinguist All-Star Member 5908 Posts 11/11 | "Live Sex Show" could mean whatever the people who made the Marquee wanted it to mean. The places I frequented usually rotated four or five performers, and one of these would be a couple, but most places only featured dancing girls. At Show World, for a while they had trannies in the basement. I had a friend who-- when he was drunk one time-- basically said that he liked trannies, and went to Show World, where the trannies would blow him in the glass booths. I never followed up to get more details, and never hired a booth "girl," but I checked out the theater one time. I wouldn't be surprised if guys got blown three minutes after I left. A lot of patrons were unzipped; the dancer was hard; and she was walking around the audience letting guys stroke her cock for the same $1 tip as a titty grope cost upstairs. It felt safe, but I left after just a few minutes, so I have no idea what else might have happened. In the straight theater upstairs, titty gropes were common, but fingering was rare, and for a performer to touch a patron's cock was extremely unusual. |

| CummingLinguist All-Star Member 5908 Posts 11/11 | I arrived in New York in 1984, so I can't speak about what happened in the 70's. But I don't remember ever seeing any of the girls who performed in the fuck shows later appearing on video or the silver screen. But one girl who had done a few hardcore roles stripped at Show World pretty regularly-- Susaye London. ![]() She was one of my favorites, because if a guy "gave a standing ovation" during her shows, she would linger a little longer in front of him and spread her legs a little wider than if he was just sitting back in his chair doing nothing. One time, I was rubbing my jeans pretty furiously. I was a regular, so she knew that I was happy to "let her watch me watching her." She got off the stage, and started to rub her body against my hardon. Before she returned to the stage, she whispered in my ear that I should unzip my fly, which I proceeded to do just in time to give her a great big sticky ovation. Fixed typo. | CummingLinguist All-Star Member 5908 Posts 11/11 | Sue Nero showed up at Show World a couple of times, but she mainly worked at a place called The Harmony-- or maybe "The Melody"-- on 48th Street that later moved downtown. ![]() The girls there were giving lap dances before anyone ever used the term. I only went a few times, but I definitely enjoyed myself. One time, Sue used her leg on my crotch while I fondled her big softies until I made a mess in my pants. She didn't seem to be into it in the same way Susaye London was, but I was NOT complaining. Another time, two really hot girls gave me a lapdance together until I .... spent all my money. I may not have been "completely satisfied," but I walked out with a smile on my face. I used to go on these little sexual shenanigans about once a week. One guy seemed to be at Show World every single time I visited, and I suspected he was an even bigger pervert than I was. We talked briefly one time, and he told me that he also liked to go to the Harmony, and that I should take a condom if I really wanted to enjoy myself. I wouldn't be the least bit surprised if the girls at the Harmony were regularly providing "mouth dances" and "unzipped lap dances," but I never witnessed it myself. This year they showed the G-rated versions of some of the movies in the Vinyl Club at the Hard Rock, but that was pretty lame. |
