Would you like to receive a confirmation email when a new Kickback order is recorded in your account?

If you could somehow make that automatic, it would be nice. If you have to do anything to make it happen, don't bother.

I agree with GaySatyr. It would be nice, but it's no big deal.

The reason I ask is I recently completed a new mechanism for automatically recording orders that are placed through the program. That way you'll see a new order in your Kickback account within seconds of placing an order at the store. The new mechanism will also include a graphic on the store's order confirmation page indicating that your Kickback order was recorded. I can easily send out an email when writing the order to a user's Kickback account.

I hope to activate the new automatic account updating within the next week.

Some kind of indicator somewhere will be great but, as I said, it doesn't really matter if it is via email. Because of the very high cost of gay DVDs, I shop carefully and figure the additional value of the Kickback program into my purchase decisions. Without the Kickback program, I would have chosen a different mail order source for my two most recent purchases from DVD Exotic - the extra 10% kickback on top of their coupon made them the least expensive choice by a comfortable margin.

Drew, I think that would be a great idea. That way we'd know for sure if the kickback went through as it was supposed to. I might also keep future participants from stiffing us/you. I'd like to see this feature set up for any purchase made through the links at ADT.

I take it Drew, you are saying, when you actually make the order, if it sucessfully done, then we would be informed that the system has added it to the list AND NOT when you actually process the order through the system, to create the Kickback values.

It's just that, I just checked my account and some orders state COMPLETE and the most recent one states SHIPPED from Five Star, but the value hasn't been added to my total (I know this is done for everyone at the same time, periodically), but if the system allows, I would prefer an e-mail to inform me, that the Kickbacks from any processed orders have been added to my total, rather than when the order is made. If it can be done....

But any info would be much appreciated. Thanks for asking us and for trying to make improvements to the system.

Uhhhhoooooh.

The above makes me think that something may be going wrong in my kickback account.

A few hours ago I placed four smallish orders from four different stores (for the best deals), and none are showing up as orders on my kickback account.
Yes, of course I opened the account before I placed the orders. A couple of days before in fact. (I'm a new user who's been lurking here about a week, and just started posting today.)

I did enable forum posting privileges, with a different user name and password, after sending in the orders. However they seem to be seperate. There's no doubt that I used the kickback username and password when transfering over the orders from my list here, to the respective stores.

Since I'm planning on placing a very sizeable order now, or whenever I get this cleared up, I'd like to not have there be any glitches, hassels in getting credited for the kickbacks.

I'm not expecting to actually receive the credits right away -- I've read about the 30-45 day delay business. I'm just want to be on the road.

There a couple of things to be aware with the Kickback program. First, only three stores (DVD Advantage, Five Star DVD, and DVD Exotic) participate. So there's no way that Kickbacks from 4 different stores would appear.

According to terms of the program, the minimum credit that will be deposited is $1. That means that the *minimum* order that will result in Kickback credit is $20 (5% of $20 = $1) at DVDA and Five Star and $10 at Exotic (10% of $10 = $1) *before* taxes and shipping. That means if you order just a $19.95 DVD at Advantage, for example, you won't receive ANY Kickback credit.

dexplorer,
I wouldn't worry. Although Drew may have automated the process, it isn't necessarily instantaneous. He still has to wait for the participating stores to get back to him with the status of kickback orders. You should see statuses updated within a week.

Also, the kickback calculation that Saki mentioned has been changed. About a month ago, Drew stopped rounding the kickback amounts down to the whole dollar see this thread. The reason that the calculation was changed is exactly the situation that Saki addressed. There are so many titles for just under $20 that many purchases being made through the kickback program were not getting any credit.

Ah, sorry, my mistake...I missed the revision announcement. Based on a previous thread that Drew specifically stated that orders under $20 would receive no Kickback, and the fact that the wording in the current terms says, "The maximum amount of Kickback Credits a Member may earn for a single qualifying purchase is $50. The minimum Kickback Credit amount is $1", led me to assume that the rounding down was still in effect.

Maybe the minimum statement is wrong, since if there's no longer a rounding down, then any purchase under $20 or $10 would result in a $1 credit -- in essence a rounding up. Or is that an artifact from when the credit was rounded down?

Thanks all, I'll just give it time.

Yeah, I know that kickbacks only apply to three stores. That's where the lion's share of my orders went. Mostly DVD Advan (esp. cause of the coupons for big orders) and Fivestar. I let rip the big one. When you're in the many hundreds, the comparison pricing REALLY saves big money, as do the coupons.

I essentially bought VERY little stuff before, only rented, because I really had no idea of what was good -- other than some performers I liked.

This site is great!! Smart business idea also.

Someone should do the same thing for tape -- yeah it's on it's way out, and is far less preferable all things being equal, but sometimes it's the only way of getting stuff.

The automated process is not in place yet. All of the stores are ready to implement the code on their end but I still need to get us a secure server certificate for our web server. We realized this while testing the new automated features with Five Star a couple of weeks ago.

I've been really slow processing Kickback orders lately. I have been out of town away from my PC for 8 of the last 10 days. I'll be processing Kickback orders later this morning to get caught up on new orders placed since 8/15.

The automatic email confirmation mechanism mentioned above is finally functional on our server. All of the stores haven't enabled this new feature on their end yet. Currently, only Kickback Orders placed through DVD Advantage will receive an automated confirmation email. I expect Five Star and DVD Exotic to have this functionality in place sometime early next week.

Autoconfirmation emails are working for DVD Exotic now as well. They will activate with Five Star on Monday afternoon.
