Hello
I emailed you a question a while back and you said that instead I should ask you in the forums. I'm rather forgetful so this has taken a while, anyway...

I was curious about how you got started in the porn business, why you wanted to do this type of work, what your attitudes about it are/were? And things like have you ever had a "day-job", like could I have been eating at a restaurant somewhere and you were the guy cooking my food, or maybe kicking me out of a bar.

I wanted to ask you specifically because you seem like a friendly and easy-going type of person in your posts and I am trying to avoid a contrived answer. (such as "I got into porn because I like having sex with beautiful women")

Keep going because I like your work, you seem to be the male talent who smiles the most when you're at work.

Thanks for your time.

This is a long story. I saw my first porn flick in a strip bar on super 8 film when I was 16. I asked the owner if he can get me in contact with a producer because I thought it must be great to do that. He actually made a contact for me but I got refused because I was to young. But I kept dreaming about it.

Than I finished school and started to work in different areas. My last job was a senior manager in a global software company. I never stopped thinking about doing porn.

Nearly 20 years later I spoke to my wife who knew about my fantasy. I told her, if I don't act on it now, it will be to late. She encouraged me to try it.

It was not easy. Porn companies get a lot of request from middle aged guys. It took me 9 month to get my fist gig in November 1996. I did this scene for free and was happy to get the chance.

They liked my performance and than everything went fast. In the meantime I shot over 1300 scenes and since one year I started to shoot my own videos for Platinum X Pictures.

A dream came true!

I have long suspected, Mr. Holmes, that you came from the corporate world, and were either in management or sales, probalby for a technology firm of some sort. Not just because you wear a suit and tie alot, but because on camera, you seem to get along with with people well. But, the real clue for me came in the thread several months ago, about finding more new male talent for porn films. You said that this is not cost-effective. Only a corporate manager, who has been in control of a budget and who has had to tell people that they can't spend money, would say something like this.

Perhaps the porn industry should recruit more often from the corporate world.

P.S. What is the German word for "senior manager"? I can think offhand of one big German software company, that sells their products worldwide, maybe that's the company that you worked for.

I do think the world would be a better place if all management took ot wearing pink shirts and matching ties.

He might have come from the corporate world but as he's admitted before prior to his porno life he was no shrinking violet.

Ah, Sir Noel, the corporate world is not for shrinking violets, believe me. There are more than a few executives (mostly men, but some women, too) who lead pretty randy lives, both at work and away from it. I had a boss (a woman) who had an affair with a man who was her assistant; she would even go up to him in the middle of the day, hike one of her legs up and wrap it around his legs, and say to him, "Joe, I wish we could have sex right now." She did this purposely in front of people.

She's had a successful career, too.

So, Renee, was this woman sleeping with the human resources manager as well? Because, frankly, a person does not have to be a victim of sexual harassment at the workplace to file a complaint. To be an unwilling witness to sexual behavior such as you describe is also grounds for a sexual harassment charge in any job. Of course, as someone who has had sex at the office myself I am in no position to mouth off on the subject . . . (but it was at least consensual it not in front of anyone else--became a long-term girl friend after I left the company, in fact).

I'm sure Steve never screwed anyone on his job. Or did you, Steve? I notice you really enjoy this type of boss-employee sexual set-up in some of your scenes . . .

An amusing typo.

Or you really mean 'fist' gig Steve?

Thank you Steve, for answering my question.

Please expound more though. If you don't mind I'm more curious about things with you.

What were you thinking when you got into the porn business? Clearly you were excited about it, but why?

I dunno, just curious, don't mean to be a bother.

No, but she did have an affair with at least one high ranking man, and possibly more (she was a real seductress). Even if someone had filed a complaint (this was at a large corporation, with a set policy for doing so), the woman would never have been disciplined; she was in too thick with the powers-that-be. Lazerus, the witness to the Leg-hiking incident was offended, but did not file a complaint. Like one of my co-workers (a man) once told me, "Renee, we work in a baboon colony, the way people are always at each other's throats, or trying to take advantage of each other."

Back to the topic of this thread, Mr. Holmes' career. There is one scene (from a Private movie, I don't know which one) where Steve comes home after a long business trip, flowers in hand, crooning to his wife, "Honey, I just got the promotion." When I saw this, my first thought was to wonder if this was based on real life, or was Steve just a good actor?

I was working for an American company but had my office in Munich.
I had a couple of sexual experiences with co-workers and customers. In Europe people are not so uptight with it.
I meant "first" but my "first fist" followed soon.
I simply find it exciting to fuck a lot of good looking girls.
Some people think I have a talent for acting. In sales and marketing there is also a little acting involved.

Really? Which film was this and can we still get it? Who was the girl?

Steve, please thank your wife on behalf of all of us, your fans, for allowing you into the business. You are truly a classy performer with much charisma and I personally very much enjoy your scenes.

So, that's why you speak and write English so well.
With customers? Now, that's providing service! I would have liked to have read the trip reports you wrote, detailing your "customer calls". When you were making these special requests for certain customers, did you remember to discuss your company's software products, or did the women lose interest in that?

I've had salesman flirting with me, calling me on the phone a lot, and taking me out for fancy dinners, but never had anything go beyond that. Though, I swear, some of these men would prostitute themselves if it meant making a sale, no matter how small. Oddly enough, it has been salesmen who work for the American subsidiaries of German companies that were the most dedicated to this form of salesmanship.

I lived in Germany for a couple of years (specifically, Berlin)and found their business people to be similar to ours--thankfully, the attitude of German society in general is not looking for sexual harassment opportunities (i.e., to sue)as much as it sometimes seems to be in America.

As an aside, I've always found Steve to be a classy gentleman totally!

Dave,

Your experiences working in Germany are valid for you, but respectfully, you're not a woman who's had a good-looking, well-dressed salesman call on you, anxious to clinch that sale, no matter what. Believe me, these men - and they're skilled - know what they're doing. I once got one guy to sit and talk to me for half an hour about my pet rabbit, because that's what I wanted to talk about. He knew I made decisions whether to purchase his firm's products, or the competitor's. He sat there and listened to my stories, with a smile on his face.

It's funny, both my best lover, and my ex-husband, were salesmen.
