Yeah, suppose I did - some of the Platinum X that they had on discount.
To clarify what I meant - I've been ordering from EroDVD for maybe two years sometimes quite regularly and never had anything checked until the most recent two orders where both were checked.
I've only ever once had a vhs tape confiscated. I remember clearly it was August 2003 and I had ordered a watersports vhs from leisuretimeeurope.nl, I think it was. Really out of curiosity. Instead of finding my package downstairs, I found a brown C&E envelope and a letter about the confiscation, how some material is considered obscene (such as fisting, animal bestiality, etc). Naturally, I just thought "fuck it" and didn't pursue it any further.
I then never used them again. I've found that those who dispatch from within the UK are best: Adult Universe and Vidshop. Thing is, whenever I receive them from Vidshop, there is always a "Par Avion" sticker on it, indicating that it was sent from the Netherlands, not the UK....
Do C&E only monitor the ports or what (because my envelope had "Dover" stamped on it)?
In the 90's I remember getting three seizure letters in one week! :-( To make matters worse I was away on holiday and my parents visited the house to check everything was okay...
Still things have improved since then, as is always the case living in Britain, we get there in the end 15-20 years behind the rest of Europe.
Recently I was talking to an old friend and he remembers back in the early 80's his father's company was taken over by an American firm and for about a year they had one of the Americans stay with them. He was a baseball nut and his family used to send him tapes of all the games, back then virtually every parcel was opened by customs...
I live in Europe (not the UK, Ireland or Germany) and here is what happened:
- packages from the US are opened often but nothing seized nor stolen. - all packages from Switzerland are customs-checked. - no problem with the Netherlands and Orgazmik. - a couple of orders with Videoshop and no problem, but only one-dvd orders.
Now a few problems: - once, a package went through Germany and the zealous customs officers checked it as if I was under German law. The result: the parcel was confiscated and they did not send it back to the seller. I've heard some German customs officers have started opening sexshops in Berlin to resell seized items - another time, some of the DVDs were stolen from the package very probably at customs where the package had been opened (had never had any problem with seller). Afterwards, I changed the shipping option to avoid that carrier. - although false customs declaration might be good for the budget, I once got a problem with a seller (won't name it for obvious reasons): received a letter from the customs asking for a bill, sent it and the package was then sent to me with a fine. Globally, no problem buying porn.
Missed this at the time you posted, Ryan, but I quote from the Vidshop site: "In order to protect your privacy all orders are shipped from within the UK".
Your experience would certainly place doubt on this claim.
Gabriel Nine wrote:Right, Gabe. On the other hand, Adult Universe claim that they ship from WITHIN the UK and I know they do because their return address is only about 20 miles from my house, in south-west London. Oh, yeah, and they are much cheaper. But kudos to Vidshop, if they indeed send their stuff from the Netherlands, I've never, ever had any of it confiscated by customs.
The other day I bought two of the "American Bukkake" DVDs from CD Universe. With all the stuff happening with JM and the U.S. government, I sure hope they get through customs ok. Should do, though, as I got AB # 26 about 10 days ago without any problems, although it took a good 15 days by Priority.

Disturbing development with Australian Customs. I had two Japanese dvds seized. These were the most vanilla, straight b/g porn I have probably ever ordered. A Yuma Asami movie and a Becky LaBeau cosplay movie. Both censored JAVs. Unlike in the past where Customs have given a specific, although irrational, reason for the seizure - ie, the actresses were wearing school uniforms, facial urination (bukkake!) or cruelty (spanking!) - the reason for this seizure was just stated to be "Japanese dvds - objectionable material". Nothing else .... This is crazy stuff, especially following the addition at the start of the year of the question on Custom forms on incoming flights that asks if you are carrying ANY pornographic material - not just possibly offensive porn. With a handful of power-drunk right-wingers from the country about to start dictating terms to the next Australian Government, it doesn't look good for porn (nor poker machines!). I may have to see sexual asylum in California. Me and Crocodile Dundee fighting against the Man! Admittedly, I have yet to have any US porn seized. But then I never had non-fetish JAV porn seized before, either, until now. Edited by - cuddly wombat on 8/31/2010 9:05:37 AM
Erodvd have attractive price because of the free shipping. the only webshop that propose free shipping all the year. But the problem is that we cannot know which titles are in stock, because they don't pay anyone to do this job. The second problem is that they are very slow to answer. And when they answer, they don't really answer your question for example to know if a title is in stock or not. There is a good vidshop that is yourchoice they have some good price, and sometie the shipping is free.

Ok, Australian Customs is now seizing every Japanese adult DVD I order, without exception. They provide no reason other than quoting the vague section of the legislation that refers to obscene material being prohibited. It also seems that they have seized my DVD copy of Justice League of Pornstar Super Heroes, as it has been six weeks since it was shipped and I have yet to receive it. Booooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo!
I hope I'm allowed to post this in here. I'm in Canada and in late January placed an order through adultdvdmarketplace. The order was handled by two differen vendors. The first shipment finally arrived two weeks ago and the second has yet to arrive. I tracked on both the US and CDN post sites. The US site has last tracking from a month ago and there is nothing on the CDN site. Does this mean the parcel has been seized? Will they be contacting me somehow? How long do they hold the parcels for? Do they send back to originator? Any Canadians with similar experience they can share? The vendor didn't offer to send a replacement or refund - does that mean I can only really take my lumps and move on? Or are the men in blue coming for me now?
watching sex with animals should (if not already) be made illegal, why would anyone want to watch that. Also fisting, watersports and scat are (i think) "obscene" in the uk, but legal in some eu countries some might make it thought checks. Or by from a comp that ships from your own part of the world (ie uk) if you can.
