Nothing fancy but it gets job done. FM tuner included.

For the record, I use a Creative Zen V Plus that I like pretty well. The 2GB version is probably the best buy (among 1, 2, 4, and 8GB versions), and you can play video on it if you ever need to carry around some porn clips to watch on a 1.5" screen.

Which ones are you looking at?

It fit my needs perfectly.

Small and doesn't require any replaceable batteries.

I was a bit worried about it not having a screen, but since when I load it with music I set the file structure myself, so it is easy to navigate blind.

They claim 10 hours of continuous play per battery charge but I haven't run out the battery yet to find out if it's true.

I recently bought a MP3 player. Even though i´m quite happy with it there is a major flaw that hasn´t been fixed yet.
What good is the feature of having 2 GB internal and (optional) up to 2GB external Memory if the OS can only handle a limited amount of folders and songs ??

I don´t have the correct data at hand but if i´m not wrong it was about 50 folders and 350 songs (calculated from internal and external memory)

The iPod is the best MP3 player that *I* have ever seen. It's interface is simple, fast, and covers *most* needs that people have. Not everything mind you, but all of the basics and then some.

I have listened to hundreds of hours of podcasts on my IPod, as well as music of course. I haven't used other podcatchers (podcasting clients), but the one in ITunes works just fine and is seamlessly integrated with the IPod, including having it's own category for podcasts.

If money isn't the prime issue, I don't think you can go wrong with an IPod.

It's just that many people don't like carrying around such a valuable item. Especially me, I use my player while I do building maintenance. I'm glad I paid 40$ for it because I don't really care if it gets fucked up in the course of it's duties.

And the ipod certainly does way more and is more costly then necessary for what the original poster was looking for (except maybe an ipod shuffle).

6gb player than has more features than an ipod. it also has limited video, games, longer battery life, and a microphone.

also, it's only $236 AUD. 2gb ipod nanos are about $250.

the name makes them seem like an ipod knock off, but really, what isn't? they're not a cheap imitation though, they are just cheap to buy.

I listen to very long spoken-word mp3s. With my current (old) mp3 player, if I have to stop in the middle of it, getting back to where I was later is a PITA.

If not, can it skip ahead in, say, 1 minute increments?

Not a big deal if you're listening to a 4 minute song. But if you're listening to a 2-hour show, it becomes important.
