I want to buy a recordable DVD player but I'm not a techno-geek (quite the opposite really) and I for that reason have no desire to plow through mountains of confusing manufacturer specifications and descriptions, because I know that I'll be none the wiser than before I started.
Trouble is I'm baffled!!! Like what's the difference between +R and +RW, -R and -RW???
Initially, I basically just want to transfer a TON of stuff that I have on VHS onto DVD before my tapes disintegrate or get worn out (and also to save loads of shelf space) - and then of course I want to be able to play it back, possibly also on other "ordinary" DVD players as well, all regions and also PAL and NTSC (I currently have 2 DVD players that are multi-region and will play anything - I now want to add a recorder that will RECORD anything)
I'm NOT into DVDs on computers - stand-alone units with a TV is my thing.
Can anyone give me any basic pointers about where to start (without blinding me with science) and / or tell me where I can find out the basics without having to have a degree in electronics to understand what I'm reading?
