What do you all think of recreational drug-use within Porn Industry?
I see that Remy LaCroix's social media pages are full of her drug-use...... which seems to be chronic. The same can be said for Charley Chase.

Don't you think drug use is more representative of individuals rather than of the porn industry itself?
The same can be said for a lot of other industries...

True, and fair enough, but don't you think performers need to have a clear mind?
What would happen if a performer indulged in sexual 'activities' with non-industry people while under the influence of drugs.... this could lead to other performers contracting a STI.
I have not seen any Hollywood actors showing drug taking/paraphernalia all over their social media pages... that's not to say it does not exist, its just that I have not seen it.
And... I am actually a fan of both performers mentioned, so I'm not hating on them, just have some concerns.

You're making a lot of unfounded assumptions. Drugs can affect certain people in different ways and it may take more of a certain drug to impede one person from thinking clearly.
Contracting an STI from a non-industry person can happen with or without drug use. I'm not sure what your point is here.
Apples may have some similarities to oranges but they can't be compared like for like. That you haven't seen any/many Hollywood actors going on about drugs and drug paraphernalia on social media is probably because drug use is arguably more damaging for their commercial prospects. Porn actress X is unlikely to be offered a lucrative deal being the face of some fragrance, beauty product, designer clothing company, etc, drug use or no drug use. On the other hand Hollywood actress X may be likely to be offered that deal if she's sober and doesn't advocate drug use. If Hollywood actress X is known to use drugs, some movie producers may perceive her as toxic and may not wish to work with her.

Yes true, a lot of assumptions.
I guess my point is, by taking drugs, you are putting other performers in more danger, when you facilities are not the greatest.
An analogy would be; although you may get home fine, Its safer to drive a car sober than drunk.

Another sort of implied assumption there however is that they are engaging in recreational drug use on set , or showing up intoxicated, which may or may not be the case.
That in part depends upon whether the performer would want to do something like that and whether their employer (to whatever form it is in this case) would tolerate it. From my limited understanding, some directors/sets are ok with it while others aren't.
Going back to your analogy, there can be a potential difference in outcome/consequence between being drunk and driving home, vs. being drunk and taking a taxi home.

^^ Not inherently true. You are potentially putting their lives in more danger. The theory of spontaneous generation was disproved long ago.
Even if porn actress X was sober and had a clear mind, that's not any kind of assurance she wouldn't contract something. Condoms aren't 100% effective.

But being sober/drug free and/or a clear mind is being diligent.... whereas being under the influence of drugs is not and (as I have said many times) puts that persons colleagues at potentially more risk.

Being under influence could be more risky but it requires for at least one party to have an infection in the first place. Sex between them under the influences doesn't spontaneously create an infection. Being sober and having a clear mind are only part of being diligent. Even if you're sober and have all of your faculties, condoms can still split or slip.
Say what you said as many times as you like, you are not going to get a black and white answer. You ought to be old enough to appreciate that life is very much experienced in shades of grey (not that badly written porn book).

OK.. another question..... should studios drug test performers? and should studios continue to work with performers who test positive to drugs?

So you mean smoking pot? Are you similarly concerned about the porn stars who post pictures of recreational alcohol consumption? Because that strikes me as far more mood-altering and dangerous than smoking pot.
Regardless, the porn industry is not unusual in this regard. Check out the studies done regarding drug use in other professions -- professions in which lives are at stake in a much more immediate way than in porn.

Pot is illegal, alcohol as of right now is legal. Smoking Pot is far more dangerous than people care to admit.
You say "Check out the studies done regarding drug use in other professions".... but this forum is adultdvdtalk.com, this is why I am posting this here.
I'm sure some wall street businessman indulge in illegal drugs, but that is for some other forum.

^^ I don't deny the risks of smoking cannabis but don't you think you're being naive in excusing the legality of alcohol and frankly dismissing Gore Gore Girl's view?
I'd put money on far more deaths, injuries and instances violent behaviour having occurred as a result of excessive alcohol consumption than by the use of cannabis. That double standard of condemning the effects of an illegal drug even when it appears to have some benefits but only condemning the effects of a legal drug when somebody is hurt or killed is more common that some admit.

This is one of the most ridiculous threads I've come across on this forum and that's saying something. Your concerns about marijuana use are totally baseless. I smoke weed, many of my friends smoke, and none of us just go jumping into bed willy-nilly with whoever we come across. The idea that marijuana causes some serious loss of mental faculties is totally false. When you're high you don't lose the ability to reason. You just get hungry and want to watch cartoons. You've watched Reefer Madness too many times.
What's interesting is that presumably you have no problem with performers having sex with multiple partners on set without the use of a condom. You respect performers' right to personal autonomy, to decide what to do with their own bodies, up until the point they start smoking weed. That contradiction is worth examining and reflecting on.

Actually you are differentiating between those who talk about it and those who don't rather than those who do drugs and those who don't , What difference would it make if a Hollywood starlet beds her way to some roles being addicted but not regularly tested and a pornstar who is tested even though she or he may be addicted? What about all those who abuse drugs at college or high school and are very promiscuous?
Also in many cases it's the AD or the agent talking on behalf of the stars and they won-t admit any drug abuse, furthermore doing drugs in porn is not a deal as big as being a public good example being on drugs , look what happened to Thorpe for example.
Anyway remember that Sexual performers ARE tested , it's a minimum requirement to be allowed to work , whatever you compare the industry do not forget this , anytime some SDT hit the industry they could track down any contact , find out the source , halt production , stop everyone involved , get a therapy if necessary and the be able to work again , no other environment could do this , let alone as fast as the Industry can , in a few days ,or a couple weeks at worst they usually clear everything up.

Well in many countries pot IS NOT illegal, drug trade is but personal use is allowed , that is not a universal view.
Also in the fities/sixties and I saw some advertising in a documentary some years ago some studies said there was a chance that someone smoking marjuana would lose inhibitions and may rape some family member , this has been considered in such documentary the greatest mistake they could make about it, because it was such an extremely big and stinky bullshit that compromised any credibility any official study may have.
Now I would easily admit that being on drugs (or being drunk for that matter even if booze is legal being drunk at work isn't tolerated) may affect your performances and accuracy , sex is another whole thing, a great deal of the sexual activity in the world is made while one or both those enjoying it are intoxicated to some degree.

Pot is legal in 2 states in the US, and when the other states start seeing how much tax revenue it's bringing in, you'll find that it becomes legal in all states a lot quicker than you'd expect.
So how about we restrict this discussion to those drugs that will most certainly remain illegal for the foreseeable future.

When Prohibition ended, we didn't become an alcoholic country. What makes you think that it will be any different when weed is legalized?
There are tens of millions of people in the US who already smoke weed. Many are probably people you know but would never suspect. It might be your coworker, your neighbor, your kid's teacher, or your local banker. They don't do it habitually, and it doesn't interfere with other areas in their lives. The people who have the propensity to become hardcore stoners probably already have easy access to weed.
This is not to say that legalizing weed won't cause problems. It will. But the problems created are usually greatly outweighed by the problems solved by legalization. I'm looking forward to the day that it's legalized in my state.

To address the issue of other drugs besides pot in the porn industry, I'm sure there are some who indulge, some who overindulge, and some who don't do it at all. It's not the only place it happens.
Back in the late 80s, I worked for a few summers at an amusement park. Most of us employees were young. After work, we'd all go out and drink, smoke, do lines of coke and have unprotected sex, usually with a new partner every week. Guess what happened? We all had a lot of fun!
Adult movie performers get tested regularly. It's not foolproof, but they're a lot safer than many young people, my former self included.

Actually in California (where many porn chickies live including Remy IIRC) with a medical card a person may possess between 6 and 16 ounces of pot (six ounces is the floor, counties may raise that at will for their jurisdictions) at any one time and be a caretaker to (IIRC) seven patients and possess up to 6-16 ounces of pot per patient. Dispensaries are also legal in some areas of the state. Of course from that one pic posted above of what appears to be Remy that is a lot more than 16 ounces or pot, probably more than 7 patients at 16oz. each. Unless she is running a licensed dispensary she is playing with legal fire posting that picture, if the DEA or CHP saw that she could be arrested and the picture used as evidence in court.

I know Vivid tested at least one potential contract girl before agreeing to a long-term contract with her. Unfortunately she tested positive twice and dropped out of the picture even though both Steve and Marci Hirsch attempted to get her to sober up. She also showed up to her audition scene high as a kite which was probably why she was drug tested in the first place. So drug testing of performers has happened but likely there was a reason for it, not just random testing.

Whether it should be or not in many office situations unless someone is obviously impaired being legally drunk (.08% BAC in the US) at work isn't a big deal, especially in academia. You would be surprised how many professors have a few with their lunch at a nearby restaurant and lecture that afternoon. I know I got away with being hungover (usually a person drinking to a hangover is still blowing over a .08% BAC 12 hours later) at the credit union a few times as well. I think there is more concern in foundries and machine shops where if someone fucks up on a machine there could be serious injury (the last shop my father worked at had a foundry in one corner -- some guy got drunk one day and poured hot iron down his boot instead of in the mold , he survived but now walks with a prosthetic limb. Once recovered the shop hired him back and as far as I know he works there to this day)
Regarding pot, in the late 70's a psychiatrist that worked with some of the public school systems in my area was rumored to use pot recreationally. No repercussions came because of it even back then. He is now a respected professor himself although I doubt he has smoked in years even if the rumor was true, he would be 60 years old or more by now.

No but I have a better idea and it has to do with a topic I started. https://forum.adultdvdtalk.com/an-idea-i-have-for-talent-testing
Basically what would change the industry in a healthy way for the better is cellular health panel based testing. If I am correct then consistently healthy biomarkers via organic acid tests can essentially control STIs due to the fact that microbes don't hang around in healthy terrains. I'll bet you that some of those performers that tested 'hiv' positive(I reject HIV theory) would have failed a hypothetical test based on OATs as their markers would have been messed up probably showing high rates of oxidation and other toxicities. That is the answer. Let them consume whatever substance they want so long as they continue to display healthy biomarkers.
