I'm not a real beginner but also not a techie. Just took out an old CD-Rom drive and replaced with DVD by Liteon.
Audio CD plays fine but DVD has no sound. With the player I got software & drivers. Installed Nero v.7. I know the internal audio cable between drive and motherboard is connected. Am I just missing some plug-ins?

Have never used a DVD in a computer before. Any ideas appreciated.

What kind of mother board and sound card are you using?

I use a Lite-On DVD drive all the time but mine just sends the audio through the IDE cable.

No separate wires are needed for getting the audio, or at least they should not be needed for most mother boards made in the last 4-5 years (I'm assuming that you are using on board sound), have you tried unplugging the audio wire?

I've had a no-sound problem in the past with one of those DVD player programs they throw in with DVD drives.

Try downloading and installing VLC Media Player

WOW you're right disconnect cable & still have sound with CD via the IDE cable.

Don't really know what AC3 filter is but I downloaded one and now there's DVD sound too. Shouldn't this type of file come with the drivers? Thank you all, for the ideas.
