| BigBoy Senior Member  3359 Posts 1/03 |  Posted - May 12 2007 : 3:41AMI'm not a real beginner but also not a techie. Just took out an old CD-Rom drive and replaced with DVD by Liteon. Audio CD plays fine but DVD has no sound. With the player I got software & drivers. Installed Nero v.7. I know the internal audio cable between drive and motherboard is connected. Am I just missing some plug-ins? Have never used a DVD in a computer before. Any ideas appreciated. BB  [Link] |

No separate wires are needed for getting the audio, or at least they should not be needed for most mother boards made in the last 4-5 years (I'm assuming that you are using on board sound), have you tried unplugging the audio wire? WOW you're right disconnect cable & still have sound with CD via the IDE cable. Kukm4 said: Don't really know what AC3 filter is but I downloaded one and now there's DVD sound too.
