I've purchased several Vivid DVDs in the past (yeah I know , but I'm a big fan of some of their contract girls). The problem that I have is that discs seem to continually degrade in quality after some time, even when I don't play them.
I'm a big fan of Cassidey, and hadn't played her "Deep Inside" compilation in a long time, but when I tried last week it doesn't even load in the player. My copy of "Deep Inside Tia Bella" always stuttered and skipped on the final scene, but has been getting progressively worse for scenes before that for some time now. I don't even want to get started on the copy of my Chasey Loves Rocco.
Does anyone know how I can contact Vivid to get replacement discs? I take good care of my all my DVDs, but I've only had this recurring problem with Vivid products.
I obviously have no idea what you have tried to resolve this issue, so I am not going to suggest that this might be your problem, but I had a similar issue with another company.
I had a similar problem with New Sensations, where I would begin having problems with some of thier discs, and eventually some of them would not even play at all. Finally it started happening with new discs, and I had one exchanged 3 times, I checked with the company and the distributor, and both reported no known problems with that series and run of production. I even tried two different players, and same results.
Anyway I retired my DVD player and bought a new one, and those same discs played like the day they were new. Later I found out that a few DVD player manufacturers where having trouble reading those discs because of a menu authoring technique they used.
I'm sure I'll get an argument from some the people who know everything about this kind of stuff, but in my experience, especially with Porn DVD's, problems reasonably often end up being the first signs of trouble with your player, or conflicts in some way shape or form with either the DVD format, or the authoring used by the varios companies, and your player. I guess in some way you could call that disc problems, but I have rarely found a disc that would not play perfectly on some player.
Maybe that doesn't help you any, but I just thought I would share a similar experience.
Makes sense to me, after all, a disc can be damaged but the info on it is not going to change. So the problem has to be with the machine, most likely dust & dirt. Thankfully DVD players are dirt cheap!
The same thing happened to me with my JVC XV-511, first it was a disc here and there (Nurses of the 407 from I-Candy was one of the titles, Mr. Deeds from Columbia was another). Over time the problem got worse and worse especially on newer discs. I bought a new player and all the discs that wouldn't play on the old player play fine on the new player. It's a good thing that I got the new player as now most Universal discs won't play on the old one.
Have you tried gently cleaning the discs, I had a problem with some Vivid discs I picked up and it turned out it was some fluid from the manufacturing process that was still on the disc.
That's not necessarily true. Discs, especially dual layer discs can develop problems over time. I've had a few that were fine when I bought them and subsequently wouldn't play in any of my players (8 of them). In every case it was the second layer that had problems.
To traderhtc and others ... I too, have had s***loads of problems with $24.95 Vivid DVDs - my "Deep Inside Tia Bella" played fine when I first received it ... and then slowly began "dying", first the extras section and then the whole main chapter area. Out of about 16 e-mails to Vivid - all I received was "No one else has complained.". Well, Tia is awesome (Vivid is not) - have ended up playing Deep Inside Tia Bella on 4 DVD players - it is now officially dead! I love Tia so much I bought another (and final) copy - straight out of the box there were problems ... mainly pixelation that was NOT present on the first copy, I have been able to play it, but have been scared to "wear it down" too much - these DVD rotting problems seem to take time in developing ... I'm crossing my fingers! I have had 2 completely unplayable "Black Room" DVDs featuring Cassidey ... I gave up after 2 copies. I have also had Vivid DVDs (about 4) with problems (it seems that the first thing to go is the special features/extras section? Anyway, I think it is best we all tell others about any DVD problems we encounter to see if any patterns develop ... unfortunately adult DVDs don't seem to be produced/replicated as well as mainstream DVDs ... I have over 200 mainstream DVDs, with no problems on ANY of these! So, far - for people keeping track - I have had about 6 or 7 problem Vivid DVDs, 1 Sin City DVD (the special features on Evolution are now gone - after about a year), and 1 Devil's Films DVD (Superstar Teens 3) ... wouldn't play at all on 2 DVD players ... which I just returned and will try another copy. Again, people should post their problems to see whether any trends or specific DVDs reoccur.
Thanks EL_ ... did check out the cdspeed200.com link - think I'll pass, looks like you have to an engineer to use that! Did get my second copy of Superstar Teens 3 on Devil's Film - that too is defective. I think I'll just start my own blacklist of troubled companies and DVDs. So far all other Devil's Film DVDs have played okay.
no it is really easy download the nerocdspeed tester and unzip it. Next think you know you will be test the DVD. really is easy ingore all the other downloads.
