My question is how do you get quicktime from being the default media player. I have WMP 10 installed, but when I click on a mpeg online, quicktime alwasys comes up instead of WMP.

Any help would be greatly appreciated since I am new at this.

I love Firefox by the way. I just started using Thunderbird as well.

My wanna try opening My Computer, then click Tools -> Folder Options and then click on the File Types tab. Search for mpeg and change it from QT to WMP

Or open WMP and hit tools -> options
and go to the File Types tab and check the appropriate boxes.

I looked under the option in Firefox and mpeg is setup for WMP, not quicktime. This only happens in Firefox, IE still uses WMP for the same site.

Still looking for the solution...

there should be either a control panel applet or something in the quicktime folder itself that you can go into to change settings, open it up and then disable everything but .mov files for associations. then set media player to everything else under its options-filetypes. if that doesn't work, go to firefox's options-downloads-plugins and uncheck mpeg's automatic handler so it has to ask you what to do. if that doesn't work and you don't want to uninstall it and simply use qt alternative instead of apple's bloated and buggy player, demerit or block the directx filters.

Type about:plugins in the addressbar of Firefox and see what it lists for mpeg.
