RE: My Playmate - My Plaything
Be prepared for all customers to want a refund for the orginal version if you post the new remastered version of My Playmate.
The first version was so so. Is the new version going to be better? BEWARE of opening a can of worms with this not so brilliant move.
I will want a refund.

I just spoke with the general manager at Digital Sin regarding the confiusion over My Plamate and My Plaything. Both titles are EXACTLY the same DVD. The only difference is the name and cover have been changed because of a conflict with Playboy. Other than that, both titles are identical.

Phillip123: Do you know of any retailer (mainstream or adult) that's willing to accept returns of DVDs that you've already opened? I don't. The retailers don't have to be prepared, because the answer is going to be "Sorry, no refunds."
If there were significant changes (and there aren't in this case), the responsiblity lies with the studio. This happens all of the time in the mainstream world. For example, might release a bare-bones DVD release, followed by a special edition later on. No store is going to refund your money back simply on the basis that there's a "better" version available from the studio.
All stores should accept returns if the disc is truly defective, but it's unreasonable to expect them to give you your money back if you aren't satisified with the movie. Otherwise, they would become a free rental service...

I agree, but the consumer will not be happy and will not be a return customer if they feel betrayed by the same title re-released because of remastering (like "My Playmate") The consumer is not stupid. They will feel that the Retail Website is trying to pull a fast one!
After all, customer service and repeat business is the key to success.

Philip- My Plaything is NOT being remastered. They are simply changing the name.

And, again, the retailers have no control over what the studios choose to do.

FYI -
There is an option to search all posts by a registered user when you view their user profile. You can view a user's profile by clicking the face/question mark icon in one of their posts.
This is a very handy little utility.

Good point Phillip123.
My take on the situation, the re-mastering had to be re-done because PLAYMATE is on the DVD itself.
Most of the e-commerce sites will be okay as long as they don't advertise it as a new release or a re- release. We should all keep watch on these studios little mistakes. Studios are too much in a hurry. Do things right the first time around.
