Who are the porn stars who retired or left the business in 2008? The ones that I've heard are Mia Bangg, Lauren Phoenix, and Aurora Jolie (Nicara).

It's hard to tell who's "retired" from the performers who just aren't working much because of the porn biz slowdown.
These are guesses:
Jana Jordan?
Britney Skye?
Savanna Samson?
Eva Angelina?
Paulina James?
And,
Janine
Jenna Jameson
both have to be included since Jenna's announcement was this year, and Janine came back did a few (IRS forced) sexvids, then retired again.

^Yeah, Trina retired in order to pursue a career in wrestling. (?) That seemed like a strange career shift to me. But if it makes her happy, then more power to her. I'll definitely miss her though.

^Well to me the difference between those two girls is that Paulina has left and cut off all contact with the biz. Eva has said on several occasions that she's coming back, she still posts here at ADT on occasion, she still goes to porn events, etc. So to me it seems quite likely that she will come back, whereas with Paulina, it seems quite likely that she won't.

If you're asking about Janine performing with Julia Ann in one of her Vivid IRS/comeback sexvids, I'm hoping they worked together, too.
They're both still super-hot, and it's been years since they've been paired in a scene. ^^They brought Janine up on charges of failing to pay the amount of taxes owed them (she was probably ratted-out by somebody close to her), and facing a huge tax + penalties bill, she came back to Vivid and made several more sexvids. That have not been released yet.
So I say, she was forced, at 39 years old & with an 18 year old son, back to doing porn by the IRS.

^Yeah but to be fair, had she paid her taxes in the first place, which she easily could have done (she did make fuckloads of money throughout her career), this wouldn't have happened. Is it unfortunate? Yes. Should you really be getting mad at the IRS for it? I don't think so.

We just posted a quick post regarding Nadia Styles retirement on our blog. Nadia Styles is another one who looks like she "found God". I really do wish the best for her though as it seems she wants to persue other creative interests.
I have yet to hear anything official regarding Sativa Rose but it would not surprise me if she retires as well. Nadia and Sativa are actually close friends.
Although Adriana Sage has not made a movie for a couple of years, she was at least filming softcore contnent (girl/girl, etc.) for her website and it looks like she is even moving past that. Her website is "under construction" for the past month. I believe she wants to leave the game completely as well but who knows.
I think Eva Angelina will continue to be involved in the business, but I am not sure about her performing. It is easy to say yes now, but everything may change the second that baby pops out.
It should not come as a surprise if anyone decides to retire from this business. I am sure it is fun at first, but after a while, you would think that most of them have other passions they want to pursue. There is also a limited time to being with and you do not want to start planning for your second career when it is too late.

Sad news to me if Savanah Samson is "really" retiring, for here is a lady with both a body and a brain (duh, doesn't everyone have that) who TRULY seems to enjoy her filmed sexual escapades-- I know I do.

Some stars will announce their upcoming retirement on the BTS portion of a DVD. So far Olivia O'Lovely and Kayla Quinn. That's messed up to me but hope they're moving on to greener pastures.
