But here is what I can contribute to this thread. I will keep it brief.

First of all, if the offending poster said anything about me contacting Kaitlyn's family, he/she was dead wrong. As you will see below, I have never and will never contact her family about this or anything else. When Kaitlyn left LA and the business, she left all of us behind. She had years to reach out if she wanted and chose not to. As her friend, I respected that and would never wish to violate that in death.

That said, I did report that she had passed. This information came to me from an unfamiliar source via Twitter. I was skeptical because I didn't know the person. I also know that there is a really key piece of information on virtually every web site about Kaitlyn that creates a lot of confusion.

I took what this source gave me, a name and a date of birth along with a death announcement in a location I knew to be associated with where Kaitlyn ended up. The info lined up and by tracking the name given I was able to confirm that it matched the name she was using while in XXX as well as another that I knew through our friendship. A little further digging got me to some old yearbook pictures that were most certainly her.

This was enough info for me to believe with all reasonable certainty that she had passed away. At that time I made a few tweets about it, but was still unsure of what to do. You see Kaitlyn Ashley (For those of you don't know me, I don't use performers real names, not ever in print, though Kaitlyn did ask me long ago to use her real name in person) was my friend. A friend beyond our professional relationship. She and her boyfriend at the time came over to hang out with my wife and I on several occasions.

It was because of that friendship that I was reluctant to write much about it. I did confirm my information to a few adult industry news sites and was working on a piece for my site or a podcast about Kaitlyn and her career to honor my friend. What I didn't want was for people to go looking up the information and contacting her family. The idea of them having to deal with that sort of attention at a time of such grief did not sit well and I did not want to contribute to that.

In the middle of this process, my own father died suddenly and the ensuing grief and mountains of paperwork diverted my attention to other areas. I may return to this article and complete it, but I don't know at this point.

I do know that soon after I reported it, an "industry advocate" who also knew Kaitlyn wanted more info to confirm her passing. Rather than reaching out to me, this person had something ugly to say on Twitter and cast doubts on my reporting because her 'organization' couldn't find anything to confirm. I'm glad I didn't see that tweet until this week when someone sent me a screenshot. Had this person reached out I would have shared the info I had and kindly pointed out that they were using bad information about a name and location that is out there and wrong. I hope this person eventually got the info they wanted from a source they trust. I can also smile knowing that whatever source that is probably confirmed it from me or using the same accurate info I did.

So if my mentioning that article upset the now-banned poster, I am sorry for the confusion. I have no intention of contacting her family or shining any light on their private grief. Kaitlyn was my friend and I owe her as much.

Well, since I have no idea which source material you're quoting, and the alleged author is the same source - and as far as I can tell the only source - that made the original claim, I wouldn't call it conclusive at all. Listen, I'm not questioning Roger T. Pipes trustworthyness here, but since there apparently are quite a few claims that he is wrong here, an independent source is what would be needed to confirm this.

THEN, I noticed that same poster was responding to a death notice from 18 months ago. Duh! That's why there was nothing current and also nothing at the original link.

I did another search at AVN.com and while I didn't see a straight story on her death, there was that mention I posted where it briefly mentioned her passing so I thought I would post that for the poster and anyone else curious at to what the truth was. That made the 'Well .... we're waiting!' irrelevant (but still funny).

That's kind of a pet peeve of mine from this board, people coming in and suddenly responding to a specific post from 1, 2, 5, and sometimes 17 frickkin' years ago. :)

It really looks like her. The birth date matches. If anyone knows who the other people are, maybe that will be a clue as well. Sorry if this link is a repost but I didn't notice it on here.
