There's been quite a bit of talk about the ripping off of box cover art. Often times it's hard to tell who is the one being ripped off. One company copies another, then along come a bunch of others imitating the same style, and after a while, people forget where the style originated. Imitation is worth ridicule, but I think many of the complainers are confusing it with plagiarism. I've seen a lot of fingers pointed at imitators, but I have yet to see any box cover as blatantly plagiarized as Truly Nice Tits.
Well, imitation is the sincerist form of flattery. Maybe it's not a rip-off, it's an "homage". Then again, maybe them people can barely figure out how to rub two sticks together on their own. Regardless, welcome to the forums Brian!
homage? one can dream. at the time that the imitation was made, truly nice tits and DVSX had only been in existance for one month! in fact, this was bryan's first release ever. i can see why a well-established company gets imitated on a daily basis. but a brand new unknown company? why? can somebody explain this?
and yes, buyer beware: the tits featured in the imitation on the right are about as real as the designer's creativity. what's up with that? 100% silicone free? i guess they must be saline then.
yup, time to roll out TNT 2 and show them how it's done
But about Truly Nice Tits... those anybody else madly love Wendi White, the girl in the second scene? Wow... has she been in any other releases? She's amazingly beautiful and sexy (well to my criterias!) I really like Chaka T also, but the sex in her scene was too short... how about her, she done anything else?
Well 2 things,of course the movie is what's important, but the cover IS important. The cover is telling you(hopefully)what is in the movie. The back cover of course can tell you what exactly is happening in certain scenes. Some people DO judge these movies by the cover,at least initially. If I see a cover from a company I don't know and it's really cheesy,I may not purchase/rent it because it looks plain cheap. At times I realize there are only so many variations you can do and only so much space available on the cover but it is important. That's why I never touch any of those all black cover vids, especially the ones that say"Banned!".This is the same reason I like to see sex scenes on the back, and also why I hate companies that don't show pics of ALL the girls in the vid.I need to know exactly what I'm getting,if a girl is cute,I may rent the video. If there is no picture and I'm not familiar with the names on the box I'm not going to bother.
can someone show me a more blatant example of duplication than this one?
i've heard all the excuses: homage, parody and just plain coincidence. then there's the single-girl style box with which there is only so much you can do design-wise.
but come on... what's the excuse for this one?
i'm wondering why these guys didn't just go all the way and put our logo on their box too. why stop there?
Yeah, Truly Nice Tits is a great DVD. I don't care if it was the first release for DVSX or the hundred and first, it's a great DVD.
The Real Big Tits series are not great DVD's. Companies that make not so great DVD's glom into companies that do make great DVD's.
Get used to it. DVSX makes great DVD's. This will not be the last boxcover you have ripped off
Make it the company goal to make every title that you put out be so good that someone wants to rip it off. If you succeed at that, you will be an incredibly successful company.
I design all my box covers. I guess you could say that I designed their box too, since they totally copied TNT.
The problem I have with their knockoff design is that it creates confusion between the two movies. Their movie is falsely advertising itself as a natural tit movie, but it is far from it. Truly Nice Tits, however, is an all natural tit movie. Let's say someone buys or rents RBT and is turned off by their false claims (which is likely), then later they see my movie on the shelf and mistake it for the other. With the imitator trying so closely to resemble the look of the original, there's a good chance of getting the two confused. The last thing I want is someone seeing TNT and thinking it is the other company's inferior product. It's a shame they had to copy the design so thoroughly.
- Bryan Xin ps. thank y'all for welcoming me to the forum.
sure rieekan, but that doesn't count as a rip-off, seeing that the second movie is a 4-hour-compilation containing scenes from the first movie. i'm sure the comp producer (perhaps a division or affiliate of the mother company) had the legal right to use the same pictures. if this is not the case, then it would be considered illegal use of copyrighted material... a whole nother ballgame.
haha, can't believe someone remembered that! well, she basically "chickened out" as they say. i called her a week after meeting her and she didn't answer or return my call.
Bryan may you just left your psd files somewhere on the server, so they had a good start to make their cover done with your psd file.
I ve worked a lot with Photoshop, and Real Big Tits really llok like a cheap copy of TNT to me. but on first sight I really thought they got more girls on it, cause every girl has two pics on from box, but actually it needs a closer looks that only 4 girls are on this tape
