I've noticed some of the older Rocco titles (Rocco ravishes Prague, When Rocco meats Kelly 2, Rocco's Intiations 4) have a grainy picture. As i recall it was the same with the videos. Why is this?
Also Vivid discs are so annoying. I have some freebies from Fivestar that have literally about 10 minutes of advertising junk at the beginning that you can't fast forward or skip!!! If they were any good i would probably take the time to rip and burn them and get rid of the crap!

sir,
I hope that Tricia Devereaux also chimes in on this. A lot of the picture quality was a problem of transfering it from a PAL/SECAM to the NTSC format.
I think the newer stuff no longer has to be transferred between different formats and the quality and sharpness is better.
It was easy to find today because I pointed someone else to it a few days ago in the PXP thread. I just looked there for the link. It wasn't as easy to find a few days ago.
Thanks for the thread. Thats is quite a technical discussion! All i would add is that i use to own some bootleg PAL Rocco videos and i always put the grainy picture and washed out colours down to them being copies. Now i have seen the original DVDs i realise they are identical in quality. This was before the days of commercial dvd-r so these copies would have been taken from vhs. These copies came from a Dutch company so were almost certainly Pal in origin.
I believe Tricia said in the past that Roccos stuff sent to the US was not always the original tapes, but a second generation. He would edit his movie for Euro release, then send that to the US to be edited yet again (removing any fisting, pissing etc.) I may be wrong but I think it was something along those lines.

In the spirit of this thread and the PXP one I think I'm going to start threads on all the studios that way they will all be even. I'm sure I an bitch about something, what do you all think?
The older Vivid stuff completely locked the remote until all of the advertising was complete. The newer Vivid stuff allows you to fast forward through it, but you can't just jump to the menu.
