I think someone already posted a thread on problems with this disc. I had earlier posted that mine played fine (it was becuase I hadn't got that far through the movie yet).
Turns out that I'm having the same problems some others are having with this disc.
At the 1:40:10 point of the movie (chapter 44) it freezes up and the screen starts to shake a bit, the disc will then throw you somewhere between the 1:44:10 piont and the 1:55:00 point (the last chapter) and the shaking of the screen continues. Most of the scene that chapter 44 is a part of is totally unaccessable. And the last chapter stabalizes a couple of minutes into it.
I rented a copy of Rogue #9 at my local store just to check it out for this problem, and it is the same as the copy I bought, same problems with freezing, shaking and unaccessability. Two versions of the same disc, same problem.
I have a Sony DVP-S360. This player has excellent error correction.
I have noticed that Evil Angel's discs problems always occur after the layer change. My Sony it will play some discs that other folks machines have problems with (for instance Rogue Adventures #3, I think cubesnake or BigMike posted that they couldn't play this disc past the 3rd scene). I noticed that on Rogue #3 past the 3rd scene my machine can play it, but when fast forwarding it tends to skip and freeze up a bit), but when playing at normal speed it's fine. When fast frowarding is the giveaway that something might be wrong with the disc as it has trouble when using the FF.
This slight skipping or stalling during fast forwarding after the layer change occures on Evil Angel discs quite frequently. Maybe Evil Angel ought to have a talk with thier dvd authoror, because I see on a consistent basis, slight difficulty in fast forwarding after the layer change.
And it's definately not my player, it'll play discs that are not playable in other machines.
I have noticed this FF problem in some Vivid discs as well, some skipping and stalling after the layer change.

Yep, it was me who had problems with Rogue 3. I still can't play it, even though I have since bought a new DVD player (Philips DVD 724) and exchanged it about 4 times. <I also made a note of this disc problems in my review of the Best of Big Ass She-males.>

I don't recall having any problems with Rogue 9. I remember trying it out when another poster said something about it. But I don't recall having any problems with that. Out of the 300 DVDs I own, Rogue 3 is the only one I can't play through.

It wasn't authoring, it was replication, and we don't use that replicator anymore.

However, since most people aren't having problems with our discs, we have decided to not throw out the existing discs from that replicator in our inventory.

For Rogue 9, at the current time, the best I can do is offer you an exchange for a different Rogue DVD.

--Tricia--

I've already sent my disc back to the online store I bought it at, so I'll have to see if the copy that's sent back to me has the same problem.
I'm just wondering, if it's a replication problem does that mean that only some copies have this problem? or do all copies have this problem?
I'm just wondering if I should try to find a copy that doesn't have this problem, or if I should just exchange it for another title altogether to save mytself the aggrivation.
Could it be that my dvd player is wearing out?
I have the Straight To The A #1 disc (Red Light). Everyone complained that they couldn't play the last chapter, but my machine could play it, it just had a some pausing here and there during FF, but the scene payed all the way through. Now when I try to play the disc it won't play the last chapter, it freezes up right when it starts.
But the Rogue #9 problem looks very much like the Flesh Hunter #2 problem, picture freezes, shimmers a little, and beaks up a bit, then sends you a couple of chapters ahead, picture shimmers a bit again, then it goes back to normal.
I'm hoping not all of the discs have this problem, I really enjoyed this Rogue flick, I think it's one of the best of the series, and I really enjoy the particular scene that the disc is having problems with (I saw it on vhs).

I'll have to wait until after the 3 day weekend is over before I can look at the production paperwork for this DVD.

When things are an authoring problem, ALL the discs will have the exact same problem. When it's a replication problem, ALMOST all the discs from the same run will have very similar problems.

Let me know if you have the same problems with the new copy as with the other copies. I'll have to see if we've recently done a reorder run of Rogue 9. Also how much inventory we have of the title right now. If it's not TOO much, we can justify a new run with our new replicators in the very new future.

I had the same freezing problem with Chapter 44 and it wouldn't play past that. It took two eXchanges before I finally got one that played problem free.
My player is a Sony DVP-S700.

Hello MB,
Like i wrote in another thread this DVD problem can really make your day. I really don´t know why it happens so often with EA DVDs. I had some problems with a few Ana/Dia not wanting to start but this specific problem at time_index > 1:40:00 seems to be a EA ´feature´ i could live without.

Thank god my DVD changer can play all (?) those problem DVDs now (knock knock knock on wood)
