Back in the early 1990s there was a famous DOS game called CIVILIZATION. They subsequently ported it over to Windows 3.1/95 and gave it network multiplayer capability and called it CIVNet. I loved CivNet. I've played it on every computer/OS I've had over the years. I know it ran on Windows XP and I'm 95% sure I had it going on Vista. But my XP and Vista boxes are long gone and I can not get it to run on Windows 7 no way no how. The Windows Compatibility Troubleshooter, like every other MS troubleshooter I've ever used, does not work. To use it you have to run the troubleshooter and then launch the problem program. CivNet simply will not launch (I get a "this is not compatible" message box). If I go into Compatibility Mode for the Civnet .exe file itself, I can turn on compatibility mode, but I've tried every setting and combination I can think of and it still refuses to budge. It only depends on your hardware if you can install the virtualisation software But i think there is a way to use xp mode in home premium as well but i´m not sure and i´m too lazy to look 4 it now Cube [Link] |
