I have kind of a dumb question about oral sex.
I have been seeing this girl for several weeks now.
I feel safe sex is important, especially since I don't
trust a couple of guys I know of that she has been with
in the past year. I wear a condom during intercourse,
and there is no problem with that for me or for her.

As far as Oral sex goes, she does it to me and swallows.
I feel kind of bad, as I haven't "gone down" on her yet;
partly because of my "safe sex" concern. I feel kind
of bad that she does it to me to completion, but as I
mentioned I am slightly concerned about being safe with her.
I don't particularly won't to use "dental dam". I'm thinking of just using K-Y jelly and my fingers....
Is this rude? Am I being to paranoid?

I greatly appreciate any advice

Not to sound too crude, but if some scummy guy gave her vagina something nasty that you wouldn't want to lap up (ie herpes) then chances are he also gave her the same thing in her mouth. (after all, if she sucks your dick and swallows, chances are she did the same with the previous scummy guy).

If you are really worried about it, I think the best course is to just get yourselves tested. It isn't the most romantic thing in the world for new couples to do, but these days it's starting to be a necessity.

Tom,

Welcome to the forum and fair play for posting up your message!!

I think that you should just go with the flow, and get your head down there!! Every girl loves it (within reason) when a guy goes down, and some females may find it more intimate than actual sex if you go down!!

I think that you should do it, and show that the realtionship is equal, no matter who she has been with in the past. If you suddenly produce a dental dam, then she's gonna think that your treating her badly and with disrespect.

Joeblows idea is also an alternative, but again, it shows that you are doubting her.

Anyway, thats what I think.

Hope this helps!! and good luck with whatever you choose to do...

safe sex information

I'm afraid, tom, that you have to answer this question for yourself. SQUID is an outstanding guy, and he places a *very* high priority on the feelings of others. But from the tone of your posting it sounds to me like you will have lingering feelings of discomfort if you don't take some precautions. To thine own self be true.

If you know the girl well enough to be in this position, some honest discussion with her is in order.

Welcome Tom Gregory! It's not a dumb question at all.

quote lindi:
"If you know the girl well enough to be in this position, some honest discussion with her is in order."

I agree 100%, and the sooner the better. I think it's great that you're concerned about safe sex, but bring it up in a way that wouldn't point any fingers. Maybe go together to get tested.

Wearing a condom to screw her, but then allowing her to swallow your splooge makes it obvious that you doubt her already, so I'm surprised she hasn't said something.

Good luck

yes Squidders, you are very outstanding

On the condom note, there are nice flavoured condoms available specifically for oral sex. They don;t taste too much like rubber and are much safer than swallowing cum. Also the same is true for dams. Flavoured dams are available and though a little akward at first can work pretty well.

My 2¢.

Do you go down on women often? Be honest about this...because logistically you are getting similiar germs when she blows you without a condom, as some strains of herpes is even more common to transmit through oral contact. HPV (this is not HIV) is also transmitable through oral contact with her to you (mouth to cock, buddy!)

Another wierd question I have is, 'I'm thinking of just using K-Y jelly and my fingers...' Do you not touch her at all on the vagina except for your condomed penis? Whoah! I am at a loss for words if this is the case....

I feel the same way as you P-Knuckle. Maybe the two of you need to go and get tested together, then you won't have to be so paranoid.

Has anybody experience with these dams? That sounds kinda weird to me... How would that work without killing all the lust?

Just eat the coochie, man. Safety, schmafety. There's a chance that when I eat sushi at a restaurant, I'm gonna get food poisoning. Do I let this stop me? Hell no. I dig in.

If it looks clean, smells clean, and there's no lil' critters running around, then eat it up. The chances of you contracting any diseases from eating pussy are miniscule.

If, however, you reach the point where you want to start having unprotected intercourse, then mutual STD testing is a probably a good idea.

You know. Smart money says to take advantage of the government-run STD testing services since they are free. Maybe you might discover something other than what you feared. It could be hepatitis, gonorrhea, syphilis, genital Herpes, or that horrible disease you thought only "other people" get: AIDS.

Funny you should be squeamish about going down on her since you know other guys have been there. Imagine what the boyfriends or husbands of female porn stars must think at night. Is my babe playing a trick on me by not washing after that afternoon gangbang with the West Coast Production guys?

I agree with Joeblow, Tom.
You are just as likely to get something from her blowing you as you are to go down on her. If she was the same with the other guys as she is with you (ie. will blow you without a condom, but have sex with a condom) then any germs they had on their dicks are in her mouth and on her lips. Just because someone isn't showing the signs of an STD like warts or herpes, doesn't mean that it can't be transmitted.

You're kidding yourself if you think getting a blow job without a condom is safe sex. You need a reality check, and to stop being selfish by using her past as an excuse not to go down on her. Like everyone else said up there...if you're that paranoid, get tested. Or wear a condom while she's blowing you. Or you can use a dental dam on her pussy while you eat her out. I've never tried it, but something is better than nothing.

I hope this doesn't come off sounding bitchy, I just want you to look at it from all angles, instead of from just your own. And if you didn't want my opinion you wouldn't have asked for it! :-))

Going down on a woman is the most surefire way of making her climax and makes her feel so good.......how could you possibly NOT want to give her that kind of pleasure?!?!???!?!

People have stated in this thread and in many other places that I have seen, that "HIV can be transmitted by cunnilingus". Can anyone point me to any reputable scientific studies that show this? I tried to find this out once before, but the only study I found was one from Spain, which showed that in 19000 recorded encounters, transmission did not take place even once.

Anyone have any good links?

I would only get a blowjob without a condom from a long term partner I trust, getting a blowjob without a condom from someone you just met is just too risky. Personally I use condoms for vaginal or oral sex even with my regular partner.

bigbadwolf16669 you should TRY condoms, I use them all the time and don't find they reduce sensation at all. Just get good quality ultra thin ones...

Thanks Loraine. I'll take a look through it. Search on "cunnilingus & HIV" and the first thing it pops up is the Spanish study I mentioned above. I'll keep on digging.

I don't know too much about this but why would it be any riskier, from the mans perspective, for a man to enjoy receiving oral than to french kiss? Both routes would require the virus to transmit from a source of blood within the girls mouth to some kind of lesion or cut on your penis or in your mouth respectively. Maybe you have great weeping pustules on your cock but generally for myself I know I'm a lot less likely to have a cut or abrasion on my cock than in my mouth.

Loraine already gave you a link to the CDC's Divisions of HIV/AIDS Prevention-site

The short PDF-handout (ftp://ftp.cdcnpin.org/Updates/oralsex.pdf) from the CDC concerning risks of HIV-infection in oral-sex-practises (oral-penile/oral-vaginal/oral-anal) seems to be outdated.
It is from 2000!

I did a little bit of MedLine-ing and found an interesting study, not about cunnilingus, but about fellatio.

In a short communique(PDF) they state "HIV infection through receptive oral sex is a very rare event—statistically our study showed a probability of zero—and is rarer than HIV infection through receptive anal intercourse using a condom"

I guess the risk must be even lower regarding cunnilingus.

Citation and abstract of the article:
Risk of HIV infection attributable to oral sex among men who have sex with men and in the population of men who have sex with men.

AIDS. 2002 Nov 22; 16(17): 2350-2

We examined HIV infection and estimated the population-attributable risk percentage (PAR%) for HIV associated fellatio among men who have sex with other men (MSM). Among 239 MSM who practised exclusively fellatio in the past 6 months, 50% had three partners, 98% unprotected; and 28% had an HIV-positive partner; no HIV was detected. PAR%, based on the number of fellatio partners, ranges from 0.10% for one partner to 0.31% for three partners. The risk of HIV attributable to fellatio is extremely low.
