I have a Scanmaker 3630. There is no button to turn on the scanner, and works by it lighting up when you plug it in. But for some reason it won't light up. I don't think it's broken, since I only had it a year or so. Does anyone have any clue as to why it's not lighting up?

I already installed the software for it. I plugged everything in as necessary, and I test scanned something, and all that comes up is black.

Did the scanner operate? Does the arm move? Is this USB or SCSI? Does the TWAIN driver respond properly? A little more info and I might be able to help.

I would expect a "scanner not found" error from your test scan if it was dead. Something's probably broken; maybe the bulb.

Hm,

Yes the scanner does move. Everything seems to be working fine, but maybe it's the bulb. Although I hardly use it.

That's easy to tell... open the top and watch the appartus as it scans. Was it brighter than the sun???
