I would like to include screenshots in my dvd reviews, how would I go about doing this? I would also like to know how to get screenshots from dvd's on my computer. Thanks.

I use PowerDVD to get my screen shots with. With PowerDVD there is a button right on the control panel to take the screen shot. Then I use a program that came with my computer called Photo Impression 4 to add the movie title and copyright information. Be sure to put this on the screen shot before putting it up. Any photo editing program can do this for you. Then I use Netscape Composer to put the text together with the pictures, since I feature the screenshots on the review. Drew has made a program that will create photo galleries of screen shots that can be linked to from a review. I'm not sure how to use that though as I have never utilized it. I'm sure another reviewer can give you the run down on it though.

Here are some past threads that might help you as well. Some just touch on screen shots and others are more involved.

Questions for the reviewers - This one covers screen shots a little, Astroknight talks about Drew's program.

Technical Questions for Rieekan (or anyone else) - originally not about screen shots, this one talks about the difference between forum code and HTML which is used for the reviews.

Dumblonde's website - she has just done a big write-up on how she does her reviews including screen shots.

I prefer WinDVD myself but either one will do. It seems that you either need DVD player software that supports it, or you need to spend money on a screen capture utility that supports being able to do this. (A screen capture of video involves some unusual technical considerations - regular capture programs will just produce black rectangles.) If you're going to spend money on something anyway, it might as well be the DVD player software which has the functionality built-in...

if anyone wants to use drew's gallery mechanism (as displayed in astro's reviews) let me know. basically you put your images in a folder and the script in the same folder. it creates the gallery, you add captions if you want, and you insert some code into your review to display it.
