How frustrating porn can be ! You fix on a girl you like and pretty soon she disappears. I am intrigued to know why. Some girls, like Belladonna, Sharon Mitchell and Taylor Rain, drift onto the production side (I believe that it Taylor Rain's present intention when she stops fucking in front of the camera). Others like Shyla Stylez and Jasmine Lynn seem to vanish. Average career length: two years - maybe. 0nly a very few like Nina Hartley and Vanessa del Rio (remember her ?) do a full decade or more.
Explanations: 1. They get a boyfriend who doesn't want them getting screwed by strangers; 2. The girls find that a couple of years' worth of do-it-all sex is all they can handle; 3. The 'fresh meat' syndrome: directors sign them up, squeeze them dry and when nobody wants to see them anymore (which will happen soon to the lovely Sandra Romain if she is not careful)they get dropped: the work dries up.
Am I getting warm ? Expert porn-watchers please advise.
The average is far less than two years. However, in that short time, dozens if not hundreds of scenes are done. Often far more than the classic porn stars did in their entire porn careers. So there is enough fodder for your viewing pleasure.
I suspect that many of these women, being young and presumably having little job experience, expect that they'll just fuck on camera the way they fuck at home. Heck, they enjoy fucking, what's the problem?
The problem, of course, is that fucking for the camera is work, and much of it, as Miha suggests, isn't particularly pleasant work.
Jasmine Lynn vanished to have a kid. i don't find it frustrating. she was active for 4 years and did over 200 scenes, and she did practically all there is to do. even if you are crazy for her, chances are you haven't seen everything she ever did. there is just so much of it. how much more do you need to be satisfied?
i totally disagree.....i have not been around that long, but i still have girls in the business who i have a great relationship with on camera. working with them is easy. having sex on camera isnt that unpleasant. 2hrs of work for 1000 bucks or so......come on hardware!
there are many other reasons for the short lifespan of girls in this business.
Yes, that's probably true, Miha. Or it could be that their family or friends found out and they felt humiliated and left the scene or it could be just a job to earn abit of money for college, etc.

Interracials can shorten or revive a career. I plan to write a book on this topic, hehe.
There is a fine line between a woman with open sexuality and one that craves black cocks, only black cocks, that is.
Many young girls are goaded into saying things like "I love black men. I screw only black men off camera..". If this statement is made with an air of sincerety that is a career ending stupidity.
But then again it is sometimes true and they were just being honest.... I like honesty....so....
I would like to hear how the porn stars here view themselves.
It seems that those Euro porn girls will have much longer career life than the US porn girls. For example, many famous ones like Jane Darling and Angel Dark, Monica Sweetheart all have been in porn for over 3 to 4 years. and more important, they are both getting hotter and hotter.
I starts to see gonzo porn of American girls last year. Last year Jasmine Bryne is one of those girls who are so popular and appear in many box cover of RLD and PLX etc. And now, she has almost disappeared. That's the story of many US porn girl i think.
I wonder most will earn enough to leave the biz or they just forced to do that like no one shooting them any more?
The truth is that, along with the other reasons mentioned, many girls enter this business only to make a short stint, get a quick buck and then move on with their lives. They don't plan for a long-term career in porn, the thought of it doesn't appeal to them.
Sometimes I find it hard believing that a girl in her early 20s is finished with porn when they say that they have "retired" from the business. When you are that young, there's at least 10 years that they have in which they can change their mind and make a comeback. Its not as if they sign anything to say that they are not allowed back if they change their minds.
I'm not saying there haven't been plenty of cases of girls never coming back but its sometimes hard to believe that someone can retire as early as 20 and never be tempted to come back.
Christian, how can you totally disagree by saying there are still girls who are easy to work with and sex on camera isn't that unpleasant? As I see it what you're saying is it's not that bad for some of the girls, but that's far from saying it's fucking awesome for all of them.
Of course there are other reasons. There's no one-size-fits-all when it comes to people's behavior. I should hope posters here are old enough to have grasped that simple fact.
You're a nice guy, christianx, and you're certainly not the only nice guy in porn, but I've seen enough porn where the sex on camera clearly was unpleasant to suggest that we're just arguing over how much is "much."
Tia Bella was one of my favorite pornstars from Vivid. I was shocked that she left so quickly because she was really getting hot. While I watching Tv here in San Antonio, a comercial came up about finding a new career and stuff. I eyes then started to stare at the TV showcasing a girl who starting her new career. Who is it...none other than Tia Bella. Man, I was shocked. I saw it about a year ago.
Nobody mentioned that drug habits/addictions sometimes get in the way.
There are a number of former performers who didn't last long for who knows which reason--only did 10-20 scenes-- I call them 'one hit wonders'. My favorite in this category is Jagger Haze. She was hottt. IAFD only shows 7 titles, but I think there's a few more. I'm guessing she hooked up with some sugar daddy and didn't need the money, but who knows?? Another that looked A LOT like her was Ashley Sage.
Another recent one that I got all excited about was Brandy Nicole. I thought she was going to be my next favorite, then she slowed way down on releases. Now, I haven't seen any new ones come out with her in quite some time. Probably gone to the porn star black hole.

the demand for new girls w/ fresh faces is higher than the demand for a girl who has already done 200 films. There are still girls like Ariana Jollee or Julie Night who are too famous with too large a fan base to get completely pushed out despite the numerous vids they have done.
I think it's often not a well-reasoned decision and after a few scenes some girls have had all they need of the experience. Like something done out of horniness and curiosity.
