For the distribution angle, I think SAH is improving all the time, as there's now a great member's site with plenty of extra footage exclusive to the club as well as VOD for those overseas. I really love that there's VOD as amateur porn is normally more pricey (SAH's $20 for a 60 - 90 minute movie with a half hour preview reel is the most reasonable true amateur action I've seen out there) and the VOD gives people a less costly way to try it out. Real amateur DVDs (as opposed to Ed Powers and Homegrown) aren't found in every streetcorner store, and I don't know that that's a bad thing because it is a niche and if it gets the huge distribution then I think it's going to lose some of its charm and become much more mainstream.

The other thing that enters into both factors is that amateur porn doesn't have the money behind it that mainstream porn does. You're normally not going to see them advertising in AVN, AFW, or the big porn mags, and the other half of that other than the money is the different type of porn fan as I said earlier.

I plan on submitting reviews of the movies I get. Andy even said he would throw in a couple extra if I do a review for this site.

I'm looking forward to seeing it. If I can find amateurs that are into hardcore anal sex acts, I think it will be great. I'm sure others might catch on more if the amateur relm gets progressivly more hardcore like other porn. It will always be naturally be slightly less hard than mainstream but it will continually go down the hardcore road. I will let you know when I get them.

I dont post here a lot... and that is not by choice. It is usually because of time. (I am a two finger typist, and I tend to ramble on...lol - if you dont find this funny... you will...lol) And my sites keep me pretty busy, especially because I shoot the shit with my customers probably more than I should.

I did, however, want to comment on this particular thread, because I think it is a nice chance to address the question that the thread has raised!

Ultrsiet2... Astro has, as usual, done a great job in responding. I would like to respond a bit as well. I think there are several things that tie into the big picture of your question. It is really about 4 questions to me, believe it or not. Or at least that is how I see it.

Better distribution - I dont want to get too in depth here... as it is a tough in depth question. Online studios, or studios that start online, usually sell online as well... which brings it's own set of problems to distribution. Also, some online studios do all of their own production in house (like me). Believe it or not, this means that producing copies of DVDs can cost more per unit than the big studios pay... and they get a much more professional product. Even very basic DVDs can cost a small studio more than a large studio. Finding a reputable distribution avenue/company, that is willing to take a chance on a small studio, and can offer distribution and terms both sides can live with... is a little tough. I, as well as probably all small studios, are always on the look out for distribution. Finding that distributor is not easy... even if you have pieces ready to go. I have enquired with a few companies from Vivid to Homegrown, to a couple of straight distribution companies without a lot of luck. I have had promises of distribution... one from what is probably one of the bigger adult companies in the world... and had them fall through.

Finding shelf space for new "unproven" series has been tough over the past 5-8 years. Why take a chance on "Shot At Home" when you can put a Vivid title in that spot with a proven adult star, that is recognizable?

Which brings me to my next thought. I have a friend who also has a site that is very similar to mine, who always tells me:

"We are just 1 store, in a million store mall."

He is right. Recognition and branding for a small company, a small online company, is nearly impossible. (your next question about better fan recognition). I have spent years trying to brand imprint and get brand recognition for the "Shot At Home" name. I have done things specifically just to get that... even if I lost money. That is why sites like Adult DVD Talk, and people Like AstroKnight and Den at CAVR are so important to companies like mine. They keep people interested and keep a small company like mine out there in front of people. Steph and Drew even took the time to meet me for lunch one day. Here is the best part... these guys found me! New people find out who I am every day from this site. Astro takes very good care in all his reviews, but luckily for me, he enjoys Homemade/Amateur videos as well and knows the difference between when something says "homemade" and when it really is. Having a fan of the Niche in a position like Astro is in, to review product, has probably made life a lot easier for some of us small guys out here, not probably.. has. I am sure more opportunities have found me through this site... than any other way.

The second part to both questions is also that, and I read this somewhere - I believe in an article from AVN stating the industry as a whole had hit critical mass, over 150 studios were started last year alone. These studios are making content and doing what they need to do to survive and get up and running. There were probably 3 times that started last year alone... those were just the known ones. There are more studios out here than shelf space.

There are other things as well, like what has been done to the word Amateur and what that has done to small studios that truly carry real homemade videos, but I dont really want to go too deep here...lol I have over 250 titles that I own and distribute. I probably have another 25-30 I have yet to release.

I am just doing what I can to release new content, do what I say I will, and release real home videos until something breaks for my company. Eventually, I will have enough content that it will be worth it for a bigger company to take the chance on a smaller company like mine.

Hopefully, when something does happen that makes "Shot At Home" a more recognizable brand, one of the things that will go along with that is the fact that I put out exactly what I say I do. I dont use technicalities to make claims, I actually give you what you paid for. Part of the reason I have the amount of pictures and the large descriptions on my site. So you know exactly what you are getting before you get it!

Part of the turn on for most people is knowing that most of the people doing these videos are people you can actually see on the street, that are in their real homes with their own cameras... and you are seeing something that nobody else has seen before!

I get the impression that Megan, of the Letters to Alaska videos, is your favourite Shot-at-Home girl, based on your reviews, but which girl is the single most alluring, where you feel truly lucky that she put herself on home camera for you to enjoy? That for me if where Shot-at-Home has an excellent point of difference over the mainstream studios.

As for the rest of Shot at Home's stuff, there's two types of movies there: amateur and homemade. If you're interested in taking the plunge, I'd strongly suggest picking up one of each. Most of the amateur stuff is British and many of them feature Kris Knight. The twins are great (yes, real life twins) and Vanessa in Outdoor Whores 3 is also one of my favorites for the amateur side. Rounding out that side is Shakina (who's in several movies), who puts out some nice anal scenes.

For the homemade side... of course there's Megan, and from then on it kinda depends on what you like. Emma Starr is one of my favorites, and does a great job playing to the camera. I also really like Misty and Cleo & Cole's stuff. It kinda depends on what you like. If you like their solo stuff, I'd also check out one of their "Shot at Home Alone" titles. The girls give a tour of their place, show off a few sexy outfits as they show what's in their closet and underwear drawer, play with themselves or shower a little... they're fun and a very nice take on the solo side of thingsthat kicks up the personality factor quite a bit.
