Some of the directors/studios do release the hd versions on their website or via blurays. for example jj released beach patrol 2 on www.assfactory.com . Correct me if im wrong guys

As far as I'm aware, only HD material can be released on blu-ray discs, not DVD. Does this mean studios are just filming in HD, then downscaling footage just to fit on a DVD?
