They are not that popular probably because of their high price, but you get what you pay for : THEY ARE QUALITY (UK talkers will perceive the David Dickinson overtones ). I could not sump it up better than Vixen, a silicone toys manufacturer (and I quote from their website) :
Silicone is the ideal material for adult toys. Other materials don't hold a candle to silicone: plastic cracks, rubber disintegrates, and jelly gets dirty. But not silicone! Plastics and rubbers can take and hold stuff well into their structure and if you want Sir Noels tip of the month for chopping board cleaning, use a power washer it can actually get within the plastic structure and wash that black acccumulated gunk out!
