Not sure if mentioned earlier, but HFR will also be very important with VR. I've posted my opinion on other threads that VR porn is currently crap. I take that back-it's shit. But we'll make better use of the medium some day soon, and HFR will come with that.
Televisions can't display 60p properly, Its filmed in 60p but converted to 30 so people can save the files on a drive and plug directly into TV and watch in 4k.
Good point. I find TVs confusing versus monitors. They do frame interpolation but the done that do won't display native high frame rates. Or something like that.
I have a 4K monitor that just plays what I tell it too, as is.
Monitors come in small sizes and can be tweaked accordingly, to do various things. They use (what is effectively) a panel in "overdrive" to achieve FPS over 60, which is why you see a lot of high FPS monitors at small sizes and they put out a lot of heat, due to the overdrive. TV designs are regulated by power consumption rules and come in larger sizes, so most can't take a 120fps signal and play it back properly at 120hz, because they don't have the same overdrive mechanism that a PC monitor has. Some TVs do incorporate the overdrive hardware, but they are VERY expensive and most TVs that say 120hz just use processing and visual tricks to take a 24, 30, or 60fps signal and make it look like 120fps. When microLED becomes the norm, you'll see more TVs and monitors with refresh rates above 60hz, because the display tech can handle it and the decreased power consumption from microLED at regular light levels results in less heat at common panel sizes.

I know there is software for PCs that will artificially increase frame rate by inserting frames / motion interpolation, and will process video files that way, though I've never tried myself.
Somewhat unrelated, but the 4K up scaling on Never Gonna Give You Up (the music video, upscaled version recently released) looks pretty good. Would be great to see that applied to older porn.

There's some recent threads on here about upscaling old porn. The technology is commercially available (not cheap) so you could potentially do it yourself with your favorites. I plan on buying it once I get my new PC as I imagine it will be resource intensive.
Older UHDTVs from the first generation of products (early 2010's) can't handle 4K/60 sources and top out at 24fps, due to the hardware limitations at the time, as HDMI 2.0 didn't hit hardware availability until 2014. None of those are still in use at this point, being nearly ten years old and incompatible with all currently used 4K video sources. All productions at this time should be 4K/60FPS minimum, to maintain market viability, as HDTVs are only at the lowest end of the market and even the least spending consumer who spends money on memberships or VOD downloads has a 60fps-capable UHDTV with built-in media player at this point, because that's what 99.99923481234712347% of the retail inventory of TVs is, regardless of the prices at any given time.

I don't mean to be disrespectful towards Jules as I am a huge fan. However, I don't understand the comment. Pretty sure most modern tvs can easily handle content filmed in 60fps. Can someone please correct me If I am wrong as I am considering buying a new tv. I have just been watching porn on my computer for the last 10 years or so. Mainly I am interested in their motion interpolation ability for content filmed in lower framerates however I will still want to watch higher framerate stuff.

Anyone who needs to be convinced of the superiority of porn shot at higher framerates should check out their new content and compare it with their older content.
60i is 60p during the switch from interlace video (DVD) to progressive (web) some directors stayed with 30p instead of going 60p.
TVs and computer monitors were always 60hz so they could handle 60p video, problem comes to resolution. Some choose to downgrade frame rate (60p to 30p) to get the high resolution (1080p/4K) while some downgrade the resolution (4K to 720p) and keep the 60p frame rate which is why you can do 720p60 video on Blu-ray but most studios went 1080i.
The public likes big numbers, which is why they'll complain if a Blu-ray has 480i anime. They think a lower number means inferior video even though modern TVs will upscale the source to fit screen size.
Blu-ray and DCP are standardized unlike web which gives any frame rate, any resolution, any bitrate.
