It's directed by Eddie Powell and Jacky St. James (who also wrote it) and stars Remy LaCroix, Steven St. Croix, India Summer, Raylene, Samanthan Ryan, Chad Alva, and Tom Byron. I'm providing a quick first look here with the full review to follow after I see the full release. ![]() Raylene, Samanthan Ryan, and Tom Byron ![]() India Summer and Steven St. Croix ![]() Remy LaCroix with Chad Alva ![]() Remy LaCroix and Steven St. Croix With Torn, directors Eddie Powell and Jacky St. James (who does double duty as the writer as well) launch New Sensations' Couples line, and it's hard to imagine a better way to start a new series. Torn left me in awe, not just with passionate sex, but with a solid story, top notch acting, and most importantly emotions that feel real. Remy LaCroix and Steven St. Croix are nothing short of fantastic in the lead roles. The chemistry between them grows beautifully through the movie to the point you can feel Steven's feelings for her even during his narration of the movie. Remy does a great job balancing her heart and mind knowing she's “the other woman”, and between her and Steven really provide a great look at their relationship from both the male and female side. Steven is rock solid in his role, and comes across not just completely natural and real in his role, but provides a narration to the movie that's handled better here that what I've seen virtually anywhere else in adult and handled better than most of what I've seen in mainstream movies. The supporting cast is just as good with India as Steven's independent wife, and although that could often end up as a very one-dimensional character, here India starts there and takes it into a character with some great depth. The biggest surprise for me was Raylene. She does a great job in her threesome with Tom and Samantha, but really shines when she's in the office working with Steven. She has a few laugh out loud moments and chuckles as they chat, but most of all came off with a very real person. That real aspect not only made Raylene stand out to me, but the entirety of Torn. This isn't a movie where you have scenes setting up the sex, but a movie where the sex fits in naturally with chemistry and an emotional backbone. There's a depth to Torn that's hard to find elsewhere, and it's made all the more unique due to a fantastic artistic style and eye behind the camera. It's not a heavily artistic style that interferes with the action, but a soft style with a great eye to beauty that should work very well for many couples. Torn is a rare adult release that works well on every level and deserves more than a little consideration as we near the awards series. From what I've seen (and I know there's gaping holes in my knowledge here) he's the frontrunner for best actor this year. I especially wanted to do this because of the challenge of making the character of Drew not appear to be the atypical douchebag who has an affair with a younger girl just to satisfy some need to feel relevant to young women. His motivation comes from his desire to connect in the way he first did with his wife, who he truly loves. It was a satisfying role to play and I hope you all love it and share it with friends. Thank you, Steven St. Croix |
