And Mutt's atttitude and similar beliefs among industry studios is exactly the kind of thing that will eventually drive me away from porn for good.

Personally, I'd rather see the "no-condomed-porn-for-me and no exceptions" guys be driven away instead. But that's just me. Porn can be so much better than it is. ::sigh::

But at the end of the day it's all about how many movies you have sold not about how original you can be as a porn-director. The reason we buy movies from certain directors is because we know there will be certain acts in it like buying Jean Yves Lecastel movies for big gapes. It's their style and they're not repeating any cliches as you call it.

Yeah, I'll save my money for those pornographers who "think outside the box." Having just read Lara Roxx's interview on AVN, I wanted to go outside and vomit, seeing every rotten cliche about the business so utterly reinforced. (It's a two-way street, for sure, but still ... I'm pretty disgusted). Double anal is one of the most meaningless and UNerotic acts I ever seen in porn, I just don't see the point to all this. I do enjoy watching harder-edge sex, but there's also a way to do it, and people who eally enjoy doing it, that works as eroticism and not just animal husbandry but I guess there are enough people slinging the debate here without my input ... I'm going back to my regularly scheduled road trip ...

That's a choice you might have to make.

BTW, I don't like anything heavier than light anal(I am starting to develop a liking of standard DP's, though, which bolsters Mutt's addiction point, because I used to hate them). Gapes are gross. In fact, I saw Felix Vicious puke in Service Animals 9 last night, and I turned it off.

But, that doesn't matter. What matters to me is that I would rather see ALL porn become disgusting to the point of me not wanting to watch it, than have the gov come in and regulate anything.

Of course, that won't happen(only disgusting porn, not gov reg). There will always be a market for the kind of porn anyone can like. so, there will always be a variety.

I realize I am in between two arguments in a sense, but they are related, of course.

I would rather see the whole thing collapse into freakdom before the gov tells anyone what they can't do in a consensual sex situation.

But that's just me. I'm a fanatical libertarian from my heart.

Oh wait, I do like feet, alot! Is that wrong?

sorry, but in general the industry gives a shit about your health,
it's all about money, talents have to take care of themselves!
if you're neither emotionally strong enough to handle this nor act responsible
to your own body as well as to other talents than the jizz biz is definitely
NOT the place to be for you.
i've read this interview with Lara and i nearly cried!

btw cumwhipper if you know nothing about europe then please don't make any statements
wether 'there is NO screening to speak of', especially in metropoles like budapest.

-

i agree with much of dac's comments, though i have to say while
porn can be artsy it certainly doesnt have to.
besides i said more than once what i think about certain acts,
and i swallowed more than once the words about certain producers.

but not all hope is lost - there is good porn out there, we just have
to push it and drop the scum, but that's up to this community, if you don't
want to raise your voice to defend your visions of porn you will drown in shit,
easy than that.
I love good porn to the point i'm proud of it but i don't want to be overshadowed
by degenerate scum that's a shame for all passionate porn producers.

Well back on topic, of coz you can still do GOOD porn with condoms.
And you can even have oral sex w/condoms. But these laws won't change a thing
even if the government in every us state would enforce such things,
the porn industry would just settle down somewhere else.
If the government would be serious 'bout that they would not only have to forbid
the production but although the sale of condom-free porn.
hey somehow this idea appeals me, creative people would have their field day

a forced condom only porn wouldn't affect peoples private sexlife the slightest.
(well at least if you have a private sexlife with someone else than your hand and
your brain adapted to interpret TAP's, cum farting and bukkake gangbangs as erotic stimuli )

I'm not a medical professional, but I believe that swallowing is the least likely to promote the spread of HIV because saliva and stomach acids are inhospitable hosts. I think there was even a controversy years ago about whether anybody had ever been infected that way. The eye is fairly dangerous.

If all of you guys who are saying that you would support the industry if they went with condoms I wonder how many dvd's do you own with condoms not many I'd wager.

I can't say I'm rabidly opposed to condoms in porn, and I can certainly understand the need to protect the talent.

But it just seems strange to watch a porn where the guy is fucking the girl while wearing a condom only to pull it off and ejaculate in her mouth. It's like a cop wearing a bullet-proof vest around all day, and then takes it off when there's an armed stand-off.

I hate to say this, but I think the adult industry has done a pretty good job of policing itself so far. This is the first HIV outbreak in, what, five years? Considering the multiple partners and high-risk activity involved, they seem to have a decent track-record.

You missed my point. I wasn't talking about peoples(sic) private sex lives. I was talking about porn. Porn sex is a consensual sex situation.

And the implication was cute, but wrong. I've indicated that I don't go for extreme circus acts. And my hand does get plenty of action, but so does my girlfriend.

Well, maybe bukkake, lol.

Swallowing in and of itself is actually not very dangerous, as picman said, because of the stomach acids. It becomes more dangerous if the receiver has any open cuts in their mouth or bleeding gums.
In the eye, is dangerous, but much less dangerous than an internal cumshot. Anal internal cumshots are the most dangerous because anal skin is the thinnest skin on the human body. Start doing double anals, and you're almost sure to have microscopic at least, if not visible tears in your anal skin. Take a cumshot in there, and you're putting it on an open wound.

If the only porn available was condom-only porn, the consumer would either have to stop buying it or get used to it. It would be a level playing field. The last time this happened I was with Metro and we went condom-only for almost a year. Unfortunately, many other studios didn't. That's the problem. Many of us would have no problem shooting condom-only porn so long as it's a decision made by the talent and not the government, but companies will always figure out ways not to use them and performers will never be that united to demand them.
Hard core porn fans will instinctively seek out smut that is free of condoms for the obvious reason - sex looks and feels better without them. Though I agree with DAC that for the most part the industry is and has been creatively bankrupt for quite some time now, given the choice between creative condom-porn and generic non-condom porn I still see the general public picking up the latex free DVD. Hence, I may soon be joining Jewel to set up shop elswhere.
And afterall, the only reason anyone is doing this at all is for the money and that includes the talent who assume the most risk in the business. A girl who has the option of jockeying mocha lattes at Starbucks for 7 bucks an hour but instead submits to 60 minutes of anal penetration for 1200 bucks is obviously not rebelling against the conformist corporate culture of a mass marketer of addictive beans. She's doing it for the money. Creativity and free expression are wonderous things but even George Lucas wouldn't do his job for free.

Then again, what do I know?

If condoms become mandatory what's next? The government wil say no DP's, DPP's, swallowing, anal, double anal, etc. the risk to the performer is too high. All of you out there saying that condoms should be mandated by the government are off your rockers. Once they get to decide the standards of porn production the industry is fucked, they won't stop with condoms, I wouldn't be surprised if they eventually get around to outlawing it alltogether.

well you emphasized 'consensual sex situation'

i emphasized 'the gov tells anyone what they can't do'
coz that's exactly how generalizations start off.
so no need to juggle the words.

I wonder if California can risk throwing all that condom
less money out the window cause either their isn't much money in this industry after all or the economy is doing much better than we realize. And isn't The new Governor suppose to be this notorious and doesn't want to get into anyone's business ?

This isn't the state telling someone how they can have sex...its the state providing a safe workplace.

If you work in a metal shop, you wear eye shields, the blades have guards...you have protective equipment.

If you're being exposed to potentially HIValichous semen explosions on a daily basis, you wrap it up first.

Do I like condoms in porn? Not particularly. Is my desire for condom free porn worth the life of an actress? No.

All the 'if they don't make condom free porn I'll never buy it again' people are starting to sould like petulent children. If they were passing out free Ferarris they'd return it because they didn't like the radio.

If you read the LA Times article that is in the first post of this thread, it states about the LA County Board of Health -

"Last year, the county health department issued a report concluding that the porn industry posed a health risk to its workers and the general population . Health officials at that time recommended that the Board of Supervisors ask state officials to develop regulations that would require adult-film actors to use condoms and be tested for a variety of communicable diseases, including HIV and hepatitis.
Since that time, county and state officials have been working with adult-film industry representatives, but news of last week's infections gave the effort to require a condom-only policy new momentum.
Rather than requiring condoms, the industry requires performers to undergo testing for HIV and other sexually transmitted diseases every month."

The Board of Health was well aware of the gonorrhea/chlamydia problem from last year, since all cases of gonorrhea have to be reported to the county. It was at the county's insistance that testing for these two infections was started for porn performers (It certainly wasn't porn producers who cared about it). If you go back and read the Aug. 2003 article in AVN.com about STD's in porn, Sharon Mitchell stated that the government officials were looking closely at the STD situation, and were considering even then more strict regulations.

I suspect the County was concerned about gonorrhea and chlamydia because if either a man or woman has these, he or she is more susceptible to becoming infected with the HIV virus if they have sex with an HIV positive person.

About my italics above for "the general population": The County is also well aware that the porn community is not a self-contained enclave, where people only have sex with other porn performers. Owing to a number of facts - that porn actresses travel the country and work as escorts while they are feature dancing, that both actors and actresses go to other countries and make porn movies, that porn actors visit prostitutes, and so one, thus mixing with the general population, the County has no choice but to be concerned about this situation, since it is their responsibility to keep a handle on all infectious diseases. I don't see what they are doing now to be any different than what they need to do if there was an outbreak of tuberculosis, or food poisoning or SARS. It is their mandate to investigate contagious infections and do what is necessary to ensure the health of their communities.

Jewel, you also mentioned that condoms are not effective at stopping transmission of the HIV virus, because the virus particles are so small, they can pass through the condom. This was true of the old natural condoms that you could buy about 20 years ago, since these were made from sheep membranes and contained pores. However, the latex rubber condoms do not have such pores, and so are far better at stopping the passage of the virus particles. If a latex condom breaks, of course, the virus can be transmitted, but it is still better to use one than not, in regards to protecting oneself against HIV.

I agree with this statement. How many condomless scenes have been shot since the last outbreak, including all the stuff shot for the web? And now, there's an outbreak after one guy goes to Brazil and contracts it. But, he didn't get it in LA, he got it having unprotected sex shooting scenes in Brazil, which if I'm not mistaken is one of the global HIV hotspots and doesn't have any testing program for its porn industry. How stupid is that?

The HIV infection rate in Brazil is almost identical to that of the U.S (based on population) and there are many competent testing facilities available which can perfrom both ELISA and PCR/DNA tests. People have been shooting in Brazil for years with few issues .If you're responsible about your business and make sure that all tests are recent and verifiable it's probably as safe as anywhere else.

Just my opinion of course

That's presupposes that all acts carry equal risks, but I don't think that's the case. Let's break down the risk levels.

Ejaculating into a person's mouth - moderate
Ejaculating into a person's eyes - high
Ejaculating into a vagina - medium/high
Ejaculating into an anus - high
Ejaculating onto unbroken skin - low
Performing DP, DPP, anal or DAP with condoms - low

Obviously they'll be more concerned about some acts than others. My guess is that they'll push for condoms plus some measure of training and education for the talent, both in terms of knowing the risks, and knowing their rights.

AIM is mandated to do a job; let 'em... if the state gets involved... they'll REALLY do a job... and we need to do everything we can to defend ourselves against the CA OSHA, because it is driven by political climate, a reactionary arm of social more... these people don't like us, whether we use condoms or not... and to let them begin to define appropriate business practices is nigh the end of this industry

period

you know it, whether you choose to believe it or not

performers educated about the potential dangers of this specific job are adult enough to make the hard choice about condoms or no... this is not a new thread, or concern... DAC, it seemed disingenuous of you to keep repeating 'scumbag this and that' because the clear data is that very few men and women perform in this industry... and every single one of them by choice... its like what has been said about Savannah 10-15 years ago... she was messed up and woulda been no matter where she ended up...

and for every messed up performer 'reduced' to porn, there are successful, pleasant, happy, talented, purpose-filled career people diggin' what they do...

As a retailer, I'm always saying in defense "hey, accuse me of bad taste all you want" so maybe I'm too sensitive and didn't realize...

you meant "scumbag" AS A COMPLIMENT

Jewel's assertive attitude of standing by the code and structure already in place was the most honest post I've read... condoms-only is not the point... the point is to defend by any means necessary the lifestyle and ethical choices we make every day to work in this field

performers are most effected NOT BY "vague, swirling in the air viruses that potentially will kill them and others" BUT BY the disregard of other performers engaging in unsafe sex acts outside the industry and not maintaining a rigorous test regimen that mitigates the potential for the spread of viral disease.

This may be an unpopular sentiment in the midst of the tragic circumstances that have come to pass, but I stand by AIM and the ability of the industry to regulate itself. Anything less is industry suicide.

I count some of these performers among my personal friends, and when people mess with my personal friends, they mess with me... which ain't cool

I see CA OSHA or any other bullshit regulatory involvement as a mere smokescreen intended to eventually perform a double anal... in the industry's ass

so to speak...

sold as a personal use item for enhancement of the sexual experience

I agree totally that the porn industry has not been pro-active enough. Speaking as the outsider, there are a lot of things the industry as whole could be doing to help head off what is bound to be a bumpy road ahead. Band together, form an assoication and develop a lobby which calls on state & federal government. Use said assiocation to truly develop industry standards that every company has to use or face economic fines & sanctions. If a company violates the standards, put an industry wide talent freeze into effect for that company. If a company does not have access to talent, they can't really shoot, can they? Find an official spokesperson. Someone who can speak for the industry as a whole. Someone who can take to the airwaves, talk to Congress...someone who is a point person when stuff like the HIV scare hits the industry and spills over to the mainstream media. We are talking about a billion dollar industry, which to me translates into a lot of people who use & enjoy pornography...which translates to power. I think a big reason porn is an easy target for government action is because porn allows itself to be an easy target.
I'm sure I'll be reminded by someone in the industry how I don't know anything because I'm not in the industry. To that point, well, of course I'm not but I am a consumer and I want porn to be as safe, enjoyable & free as free as possible. My suggestions are made with that in mind.

Max, your utopian vision of how porn SHOULD be is commendable but unfortunately it's a reality that can never be. Evidence enough is that some in the talent pool are soliciting for some type of "fund" to cover their lost incomes during this time of turmoil. How many people do you know that earn 15K in one month but who can't pay their rent? A little responsibility goes a long way, especially when you're bringing in that kind of coin. I sympathize with the talent but it's the crew who are completely fucked. They don't command 1500 dollars for double-this and quadruple -that. They work for regular wages and this moratorium is gonna wreak havoc with them. Set up a fund for the P.A.'s, techs and camera people.

Quaze...I understand where you are coming from but there needs to be a starting place. Saying something can't be done just leaves matters at the status quo and it looks like that isn't good enough any more.
I fully understand that most talent does not seem to be able to hang on to their cash but if there was an industry funded assiocation, performers could be advised how to be more responsible with their cash....a function not unlike what the NFL does with rookies coming into the league.
I also fully agree with your concerns about the crews. I realize that I'm not in the industry but it would seem that as a multi-billion dollar business, the porn companies can afford to put up some cash & form a kind of safety net. This should also cover funds to help HIV postive perfomers cope with medical costs.
Again, these are the suggestions of a fan & a consumer who wants things to improve.
Is there or has there ever been a porn assoication? Do you think an industry spokesperson is a good idea?

The problem here is that you're speaking for yourself, or more accurately from your own perspective. I won't argue with you that the direction gonzo has been heading in is more extreme circus acts, but there are others out there who do tread that middle ground.

I for one have very little time for American Features. Some of the girls are gorgeous, but then there's the condoms and all of that, which I prefer not to see. So when I buy American porn, it's almost all "gonzo". At the same time, I avoid most of RLD's stuff because I'm not intersted in seeing below-par looking women doing the nastiest things possible.

Something like a John Leslie or Jules Jordan (NOT WoAD) kind of thing, regular sex, some anal, facials, DP. All is good.

Then there's car-crash-like curiosity at seeing DPP and DAP which may or may not float my boat at the time depending on the performers, since I haven't seen a lot of it. I won't NOT buy something because of this, and even bought DVSX' DVDA out of curiosity (though I haven't watched it yet).

No interest in A2M, A2OGM, creampies of any kind, I might be able to overlook one of these in an otherwise good scene/dvd but I won't buy anything themed with them.

Choking, women being slapped with herring, vomiting. And Ron Jeremy or Max Hardcore. No interest and these pretty much = an automatic no buy for me.

Just that you'll find many of the loudest posters here share the love of ultra-hard-hardcore, much like in any other forum on the net you'll find a lot of the ultra-hardcore fans of any topic to be the loudest posters on their boards (see: Wrestling boards, MMORPG boards, RPG boards, etc etc).

The most hardcore fans speak for themselves, but being the most vocal on the net doesn't always equal the biggest proportion of consumers...

cheers,

yes if every company did condom only, the customer would have no choice but except it or not buy any. Dont forget that when something happens in US, europeans are never far behind.. meaning that if the LA porn industry went condom only, it wont take long for the girls that usually work in US are requiring the same on set in Europe, and then it wont be long for europe being condom only either. And there are quite a few European companies now doing condom only, or condom use when the actor or actress wants it. I spoke to many actresses in France, and they didnt even know that in LA its hard to find work if you want condom only.
Anyway, there are a few ways to put condoms in a scene in a sexy way.. like putting it on with the mouth. And when you give blowjob, well i dont know what to say to that? Maybe using a lot of lube that kills most of the bacteria?

And what about the female condom? Do they still excist? nobody would see it, and there is still a condom right?

As a customer looking in on all of this I gotta say I'm not surprised. Not to be trite but, it's all fun and games till someone gets hurt, as mom used to say.

All you so-called film makers have done is try to keep up with the Joneses, but you've done it at the expense of the talent and the customer.

If I like a certain girl I don't want to see someone shoot cum in her eye on purpose, see two dicks up her ass or see her do something which obviously isn't pleasurable to her, and to anyone with half a brain is downright dangerous.

You've all got away from the point of making porn films. That is: to make creative, erotic and arousing movies!

Quaze is right on... I'm sure gonzo studios will be basically forced to shoot outside of the US, as some companies will do it to shoot condomless porn. The ones that try to stick it out shooting with condoms in the US may go bankrupt.

There are thousands of non-condom porn out there to last our lifetime. I can buy one old non-condom movie a week for the rest of my life and still not run out of it.
Yes I worry for the safety of the performers. However, when I'm paying money out of my pocket for a movie, I put myself and my likes/dislikes first. I'm going to buy what I like to see and what turns me on, which is non-condom gonzo. If they stop making it, I'll buy older stuff instead, pretty simple.
Going all condom would be catastrophic for the porn industry. The majority of people that buy it watch gonzo, the Vivids and Wickeds of the world are big as they are not because of movie sales, but because of hotel PPV and satellite PPV/channels, that's where most of thier money comes from.
If you introduce mandatory condom use, porn will not be the same anymore, it's for outlaws and renegades, people that don't quite fit society's mold, it's supposed to be a little dangerous, that "mystique" so to speak will be gone, and that's not a good thing.
If condoms become mandatory, will testing stop?
Also, what if a performer gets HIV even if they use condoms, what happens then? Where do they go from there? They will start eliminating all the higher risk acts like anal etc.
Be careful what you wish for, you just might get it.
Those of you that have such a hard on for condom porn can go watch your shitty Vivid and Wicked features, it's already there for you to watch.
The choice of condoms should be up to the performers involved, period. And from what I have read most don't think that it's necessary or the way to go.

Ok, 2 people have tested HIV positive in a sex industry that hasn't had an outbreak since what 1999? So, for 5 years everything has been somewhat kosher. Now, the government has a hard-on and wants to regulate the industry, pretty much destroying the entire gonzo market with a ridiculous request of mandatory condom use. Quite simply, there are bigger fish to fry; more aids/hiv is transmitted on the typical college campus in a week than has happened in 5 years in a hardcore/porn environment. I can think of more people personally that I know in my own life who have died or transmitted HIV than this recent scare in porn. Its an amazingly huge overeaction by the 'state;' the industry has done well to self regulate, the way that they are able to map the progression and tiers of who needs to be quarantined should be looked at as a positive and also extremely professional.

I don't like the concept of people who have no idea what porn is setting standards for what it should be. If the transmission of bodily fluids is a problem, say goodbye to blowjobs, cunnilingus, cumshots, open mouthed kissing, dildo use between two partners, etc. The government of the state of California can work on better ways of protecting the public health than this. I wish the industry will continue to be allowed to police itself; I think they are doing a stellar job. Compared to other 'high-risk' occupations, porn is safer. This is quite obviously just a backdoor attempt to fuck the industry; and by some news groups reactions, this is consciously being blown way out of proportion and distorting the truth of the matter.

The most awful flipside of this story is that more porn companies' will go overseas rather than film in California to make hardcore porn. And as the industry has standards set in the USA but obviously can't enforce such strict testing in say, Brazil, this will only create more HIV outbreaks.

LOL

I said this(you quoted): I would rather see the whole thing collapse into freakdom before the gov tells anyone what they can't do in a consensual sex situation.

You said this: a forced condom only porn wouldn't affect peoples private sexlife the slightest.
(well at least if you have a private sexlife with someone else than your hand and
your brain adapted to interpret TAP's, cum farting and bukkake gangbangs as erotic stimuli )

It is clear that you thought I meant a person's private sex life, and misunderstood that I meant porn stars having sex for money on camera, which is a consensual sex situation.

If I misunderstood the next to be a sarcastic and rude remark, and you did not intend it that way, then I apologize.

Take care.

I hate to be cliche(really, I do, lol), but if you don't want to see it, then don't. But don't get involved in my decision to see it. Half a brain? Maybe not. I lost my keys earlier, and still haven't found them.

MB, I agree. The thing that doesn't worry me personally is all of the porn that has already been made.

I'm only arguing principles. I'll still have plenty of porn to watch.

I agree if you make so much money a month as a performer and you cannot pay your bills you're a looser and shouldn't be in this industry to begin with as it makes us all look bad. I can understand if you are new talent and just getting started when all this came down then yes some assistance will be needed but the ones who are really in need are the crews of these productions. I am sick of seeing broke ass pornstars there is no need for it if you've been in the business for years you should be ashamed of yourself if you cannot go a few weeks without pay!!! I will not hire any of the veteran performers that are crying for money as they work all the time and if they cannot keep some money back I won't support their party habbits.

now i am really wondering..what about the female condom??

You cant see them as a customer, and as a performer you are still safe, and for the anal, well i guess that is then with a normal condom, but at least the vaginal sex will still look the same?

Amen Jewel and Quaze. Hard to feel sorry for someone who makes $15,000 to $20,000 a month and are broke... No one mentioned the crews, who get paid like regular people.

valjean, no need to apologize for anything!
if i get rude, sarcastic and naughty it will be much more obvious

-

i don't think it's the right time now to point fingers at people
having troubles to pay their flat rent. it's better to support each other
as most people sit in the same boat.

back on topic , i don't think that porn and condoms exclude each other.
it is a fair option.

For most similar aged and like-minded people i talked to AIDS is still
the No.1 reason NOT to become a porn-talent or even think about it.
i guess it's basically the same in the states, maybe as soon as condoms
become mandatory the pool of talents will get even bigger, who knows?

right now i don't see that this law discussed here will have any impact
on porn valley at all!

And even if every state would follow May, i highly doubt it would have
ANY effect on the situation in Europe.

I agree with you 100%.

I think what all of this boils down to is the lack of responsibility, self-respect and self-discipline of 'some' of the parties involved in the adult industry. Being involved in this industry for the past 4 years, I can actually say that with confidence. No matter what happens or what deliberations take place, whether you decide to shoot in Los Angeles or in Egypt; talents, entreprenuers and crew members must all look out for each other. This is a business. What you do on your off time will effect what you do when you are on your on time. Be responsible!

To get back to what Jewel is saying, I firmly believe that the knowledge learned in this business can easily be applied to the world outside of Adult. Being categorized as a crew member, I know, for a fact, that the knowledge that I've learned in my 4 years time can be applied to outfits in the mainstream media. In other words, if you're low on cash because of being irresponsible, look for other work my friend. There's no excuse not to.

I agree.

of course it will have effect in Europe! Our governements are big ass kissers to the US, so they will get envolved, as they are talking about it already on the news, and the actors and actresses and companies will change to in the end. Its not like HIV can only happen to Americans.

Won't happen because Europe is not a country and I don't see them making one big law for every European country concerning the working conditions in the adult-industry. Every country has their own law concerning pornography, Holland is the most liberal country so maybe these American companies should make their movies here in Holland. I think Amsterdam is the perfect place for it.

I don't think Europe will follow the trend of the US as there is a more liberal attitude towards porn. As for ass kissers, only the UK and Italian GOVERNMENTS are big ass kissers.

well now let it be on the dutch news where they talked about checking out how it is in Holland and the rest of europe, that maybe there should be more check ups, as you might know is that in holland any form of paid sex is obligated to use a condom.

Well, in the boulevard news
ass kissers? yes sometimes, though latley times have changed
Good Bye Blair
Besides France never was the No.1 ass kisser.
the Czech republic will say, Huh? or nothing at all
ehm what was the topic? ah, sorry
Yes, but luckily our governments grant us the freedom
to decide for ourselfs if we put us at risk or not,

and these principles of personal freedom won't change that quick!
please don't oversimplify

that being said, right now -to repeat myself- i don't see any impact
on the american porn valley not to speak of europe.

Maybe Private will switch to 'Condom only' at one time but even than
there are still countless other europe based production companies that won't.

right now i don't want to value if this is a sad or a good thing.

You're talking about prostitution and making porn is not prostitution. I don't see Holland or any other country in Europe becoming a condom-only country when it comes to making movies.

Kinda like France, Germany, and now Spain, maybe Poland in the effort to pacify Iraq. My ass is sore from so much ass kissing from these countries.

Enough with the American supremecist crap please. It's making me sick.

----------------

Here's my problem with the performers being able to choose for themselves. We all know how that goes. Girl goes to gonzo company and says "I want to work with a condom." Gonzo company says, "we don't shoot with condoms". Girl is left with the choice of either going to another company, or shooting without a condom anyway. In a perfect world, she'd be able to get enough work and shoot condom porn with other company's, but in the real world where everyone "knows" that condoms don't sell units, she's under HEAVY pressure to shoot without a condom. Eventually, she'll relent, as will so many other performers and of course there won't be any condomed porn in gonzo because the girls have given into the financial pressure put on them to shoot without them.

The thing is, short of not performing at all, they suddenly DON'T have a choice anymore. I don't discount the argument that it's still "their choice" but that doesn't mean I have to feel good about the circumstances under which they have to make that "choice". Sometimes the pure capitalist, libertarian ideal just doesn't fuckin' work. If all gonzo companies WOULD go "condom-optional" and TRULY be that way, I'd feel alot better about the whole thing, even if the girls were offered more money for condom-less scenes I'd at least feel like they still have a freakin' choice!

As an aside, I'm tired of the generalizations. I DON'T have a "hard on" for condom porn. But I won't throw porn away if that's what it comes to. I also don't feel that I should have to put up with what passes for feature porn these days just because gonzo companies refuse to at least CONSIDER the possibility of "condom-optional" policies.

I really think I need to stop participating in these threads. Not only do I feel that people like hardware, myk and I are being misinterpretted most of the time because people aren't really listening, but I feel like I'm hitting my head against a brick wall. There are good arguments being made on both sides of the issue, I believe. And I respect everyone's opinion here. I'm just tired of being lumped into some camp as if I've made up my mind and fuck the rest of you. I have a feeling alot of us are. I have no idea how this is going to shake out, my main point is that I'm not quite so against exploring all the possibilities as some others seem to be.

Enough of my rambling. I don't really know shit anyway. I'm just a consumer. The only influence I really have is with my wallat, but sometimes just SOMEtimes I think money shouldn't rule over EVERYthing.

Well said Mlyons, I agree, and that is why I just said my piece earlier and then it got too ugly to participate in anymore.
