She works at a hair salon, the eponymous "Gossip", and of course the stylists and customers chatter about their sexual exploits. It's a simple, believable premise from writer/director Stormy Daniels that offers a readymade route to the sex scenes. And if you always wanted to see Manuel Ferrara gamely play a gay hairdresser, you're in luck. Terrific stunt casting. Ironically, the biggest negative in the movie for me is Carmen's hair. I just don't like this bangs look -- it's what she had at the show in Las Vegas, when I mistakenly thought she wasn't that hot. I hope this is the last we'll see of that. Pros: Everybody except Carmen looks great (and she still looks pretty good, after all). As usual, I love normal, everyday wardrobe on porn stars. I'll say it for the 30th time, sexiness doesn't come from fishnets, it comes from the woman and her attitude. These gals have it. Carmen does look good in jeans. Jada Fire has never looked hotter to me than she does here. Katie Morgan cleans up nice. Tory Lane, Roxy Jezel ... yeeha. *Another top-notch script from Stormy. In a dialogue-heavy movie, there's really only two lines that came off clunky at all. All the actors do a good job. *I never really sought out Tory Lane in gonzo stuff, but she impressed me in "Second Thoughts" and she's the highlight here by far. As the wedding-averse prick I am, I love the scenario -- she gets DP'd by two groomsmen and then wipes their loads off her face onto her sister's wedding gown. Delightfully perverse. And she really goes at it. Tremendous scene. *The sex is pretty strong overall, with Jada and Roxy also doing anal, if you're into that. Stormy's all-sex movie is probably going to be pretty good when it finally comes out. *Greek subtitles. I don't think I ever had a disc with those before. They just look cool. *You gotta love Manuel, the guy's a good sport. He does a fine job with his part, not going over-the-top queenish, thank goodness, but still clearly having some fun with it. Of course, the upside for him is a four-way with Carmen, Alexis Malone and Rebecca Love. While it might not be fully p.c. to suggest the "convertability" of the gay guy, it is a fine capper to the flick. Cons: Very little. This is the second Wicked movie I've seen with Sativa Rose, and it's been g/g scenes in both. Aaargh. And when I spotted Sunny Lane sitting in one of the salon chairs, it got my hopes up for a scene from her, but she was just an extra. Double aaargh. (Monstar gets a very small cameo in one of the other chairs, btw.) Bottom line: I hadn't heard anything about this before it came out. It's not a big blockbuster-type movie, but lately it seems as if I've been liking the little ones from Wicked the most. Fully recommended. [Link] |

Stormy is the master of making medium-sized movies that yield big budget entertainment value in terms of both the sex and the quality of the script and acting. | ObiBong Senior Member 1162 Posts 12/02 | There's not a lot to screw up, so it works, and I like it better than almost any of Michael Raven's big movies. Pros: Carmen seems to have a winning personality, and it comes through. She's a good comic actress, in that classic spunky way, no pun intended. *Jonathan Morgan does some scene-stealing by playing, in a stretch, a cheesy scumbag porn director. Lots of good one-liners. *Tiffany Rayne gets a pretty good ass-pounding from Manuel Ferrara. Cons: But we don't get a real good look at Tiffany overall. It was a couple minutes into the scene before I even recognized her. *Carmen is great with her dialogue in character, but there's a lot of voice-over, and her reading is really clunky for some reason. It's like she's reading it cold. Not natural at all. *And Carmen has that unflattering hairdo in this one too. Dammit. Bottom line: It'll do. Solid "B". Edited by - obibong on 9/7/2006 9:50:47 PM |
