I'm hoping to get some feedback on something that has puzzled me to no end. Up until 6 years ago I was allowed to party in several swing clubs as a single and had some excellent experiences. I started around 1995 and quit around 2005. In that time i picked up zero stds and tested regularly, today i am still clean. What I don't understand is why stds are so prevalent in the adult biz when for most swing parties testing is not required and stds are a rarity? Any thoughts on this? I could take a giant leap and say that most of the folks i partied with were stable couples with children who enjoyed the lifestyle of swinging, but still i was never required to provide "papers" even though i tested for my own edification. I know some adult stars would attend some parties, but I was never fortunate enough to be at one of those although some of the guys i met would show up in gang-bangs with women like Cumisha (I envied that dude!). I am curious to know what you all think!

Using anecdotal evidence to support a claim that "stds are a rarity" in swing party culture is pretty disingenuous.
Do you have solid evidence? I mean, yeah now and then you hear something floating around the porn biz, but not that often. Also, I would presume that the Swingers scene is pretty hush hush and if there was a 'breakout' a diagnosis it wouldn't be publicized like in porn.

To the others understand that I'm genuinely interested in the topic and not making assertions and additionally I'm not elevating swingers over porn stars. I've got no agenda, i've just always wondered. Also threads like this one pop up in here all the time about the prevalence of STDs in the industry: https://forum.adultdvdtalk.com/forum/topic.dlt/whichpage=2/topic_id=153357/forum_id=1/cat_id=1/153357.htm Black Six and a few others have had some compelling things to say about the veracity of any claims bout the prevalence of STDs in the industry. Someone mentioned that swinging STDs go unreported while adult industry STDs are highly scrutinized. This makes plenty of sense to me. Anyway just looking for an interesting back and forth from adult fans and the swingers amongst us! Edited by - vanessadelriolover on 10/2/2010 3:44:35 AM

Mindee probably knows more about this than most of us. What I've heard about the prevelance of STDs (besides HIV obviously) in porn comes from interviews from respected industry vets like Belladonna, Rocco and Annette Schwarz.

Actually, I would seriously disagree with your contention that swingers as a whole are safer than the adult business. I've been in the swing community for years, and I have found that while swingers love to talk a good game, the truth is a LOT different. In fact, I/we have pretty much given up swinger parties, and only now get together with a few very trusted couples, because I want to be able to pass my AIM test each month. I have seen some of the most reckless acts being done at swingers parties, and I would suggest to anyone wanting to enter the so-called "swing" lifestyle to be VERY careful about who you meet up with.

hey Black Six & Mindee, thanks for jumping on this thread. Mindee I appreciate what you say here about swingers and I feel fortunate to have "retired" several years ago w/a yeast infection as the worst std I picked up. The reason I posed this question was that outside of the "regulars" at swing parties you'd find a lot of guys who would pay the fee & roam around partying w/o any checking whatsover. By regulars I mean the trusted couples you speak of who'd invite me & with whom we'd eat and socialize as well. I'd agree is saw a good deal of barebacking & sloppy seconds etc. which sorta seemed unsafe, but i never heard of any consequences (amongst the regulars). I agree about the VERY careful caution as well....i was lucky to have not run into any crazies i guess. Mindee & BlackSix, I wonder if newbies are told of the risks going into the biz by their agents (1. you'll probably catch "X" or "Z" but testing prevents HIV transmission for the most part etc.)? Whether you swing, have lots of partners, or become talent in the biz it seems that non-fatal stds are an acceptable risk? What do you think?Actually, I would seriously disagree with your contention that swingers as a whole are safer than the adult business. VanessaDelRioLover: I like what you have to say. I would agree with you about what's taking place inside a lot of swing parties. I have always had a bit of the problem with the "single guy" aspect of many of these gatherings. Sure they charge the single guy a lot more, but in a sense, what a deal for them! I have a good friend who comes to these parties as a single guy. I like him, I can have a good laugh and he's godd company. But I won't fuck him. I know that he will and does stick his dick into anything that will hold still long enough for him to get it in, and I just won't take that chance. I was fortunate, I never got anything in the course of my swing activities. As I said before, now, I/we only meet with some trusted couples whom we've known for a long time. Now I'm a crazy bitch and I like to do wild things, but there's just too much reckless activity happening in these parties by people who I don't know to suit me, so it was time to stop. Another thing I ran into was that once people found out that I did porn, I had all sorts of people wanting to swing with "us". (read me)They wanted to get with me because I did porn, not because they were interested in us as a couple. And since I do this with my husband, if he doesn't get anything out of it, I'm not up for it. As far as the porn aspect of it all is concerned, No, I don't think anybody really bothers to advise people getting into the business. I consider myself very lucky, as two ladies with a lot of hash marks in the porn industry (Chessie Moore & Mistress Rhiannon)took me under their wings and gave me a pretty good education about the porn business as I was getting into it. To this day, they still look out for me, whenever I go off to shoot something. Most women getting into the business aren't that fortunate. In my everyday work I have found that an amazing number of young women are incredibly uneducated about their bodies and about sex in general. Sure they know that they like it doggie-style while getting their hair pulled, but you would be amazed at the depth of their ignorance when it comes to things like getting pregnant, cleanliness & STDs. I don't think that any STD is "acceptable". There is great concern in the medical field about any number of "bugs" that are mutating into strains that either require extraordinary medical treatments to kill them or that they can't be killed at all. So even the STDs that won't kill you are becoming more dangerous than ever. When I get my AIM test I always do the full panel that includes all STDs including Herpes. I know that you don't have to have a negative test for herpes to pass your AIM test, but I think it should be mandatory. Yes, I know, herpes is all over the porn community. I once saw someone post here at ADT that "If you were in porn, you have herpes". I am & I don't and I'd really like to keep it that way. In fact your namesake left porn because she no longer wanted to spin the STD "Wheel of Fortune" every time she did a shoot. As much as I'd really like to do a video that included a lot of the so-called "circus acts" I often think about that "what if" factor when it comes to getting something I don't want to bring home.

Mindee awesome, awesome, awesome response! You've given me a lot to think about. When I partied I did both the single guy thing and the invited guest of a couple that was in the lifestyle. I preferred the latter for all the reasons you stated i think having a social connection made for a better experience. I'm glad you play it safe & how excellent that you are considerate about your hubby. I was always impressed with the trust and security i saw in couples that were in the lifestyle. the powerexchange thing (i don't know if that place in S.F. still exists but it was a random swing club aimed at a younger demographic) didn't appeal to me as much as the smaller, local clubs & i always felt "std safer" there. might have been a false illusion on my part, but i just thought it was safer with people i knew! thanks for your response, thought provoking and like you i feel lucky to have come out of the experience with a lot of great memories & "clean." Yeah, i read that Vanessa quit in the late 80s for precisely the reason you stated amplified by the HIV scare! Edited by - vanessadelriolover on 10/5/2010 4:27:31 AM

Not at all. In my overall experiences in the lifestyle, I've seen condoms used less than 25% of the time.

His secret is that immediately after an encounter, he's in the bathroom giving Hedgehog Jr. a vigorous and thorough washdown.
Without condom you will not get much pussy in a swingers club. If you are lucky/unlucky you might get a blow job without rubber. Edited by - alanbanal on 10/14/2010 7:07:23 AM
Swingers are mostly older middle-aged people and they are very homophobic. So no gays means less HIV incidents -- no I'm not gay bashing here. Older people are probably not heavy IV drug users also. That covers HIV/AIDs. Now for other STDs they probably are less likely to spread STDs if they know they are infected because they are not dependent on fucking to make a living and survive. Some porn performers will continue to perform if they can get away with it. And finally porn performers are more likely to contract diseases just because of the sheer number of people they have sex with. Swingers may have a lot of sex but its with a smaller pool of people. Also some porn performers work as escorts on the side.

Older Middle-Aged People??? You just be careful sonny or I'll whack you with my quad-cane!! I'll agree that about 50% of those in the swing lifestyle are probably 35-64. But that certainly doesn't fit when you allow single guys into the mix. They tend to be more 25-35, and I've met a lot of rather young couples at swing parties. You are VERY correct about the homophobia issue. It is an interesting mindset. I would say that 95% of couples want the women to be Bi or some form thereof, however, they don't want guys to even have the slightest whisp of a passing thought that they might be comfortable with getting anywhere near another dick. I'm not even talking about a guy being Bi..most of the guys are terrified that they might get within passing distance of another dick. And, many of them are VERY hateful towards gays in general. If you look at any number of the profiles on sites like SwapperNet & SwingLifeStyle, you'll find people telling you how absolutely straight their men are and how your guy better be at least as manly as their guy. In many ways it's sort of comical. Sad, but comical. I would also agree that many of them are not IV-Drug users, HOWEVER..as I have mentioned before there are many, many many of these people who indulge in a lot of risky anal behavior and cum play, with people they've never set eyes on prior to 10 minutes ago. I'm fully willing to indulge in a lot of wild behavior, but it's got to be with people I know and trust, but not with Mario & Sandy Bagadonuts from Hoboken that I just met when I walked in the door. Mindee and Zambi what you sair rings true with my experience right down to the homophobia. To Roscoe I think "club" stands for private homes that host regular events in my book. One of the biggest I used to go to was in North County S.D., Cali and it was full and held in a large home. About condom use, I found that condoms came off the second or third time you were with a couple. I would say i lost my mind a few times and went w/o but usually i didn't go anywhere w/o my latex and a towel : ) I never went to the clubs so most of the people i partied with were middle aged, here in PDX Ron Jeremy has a club called Sesso and when i've walked past it is geared toward a 20 something demographic which i think is what the S.F. Power Exchange was (i never went there). Thanks for all the posts and keep them coming, this is one of those topics you never get to talk about, so i thank you guys for giving me some space to do that! You are all addressing my questions and giving me some unique perspectives plus some of my suspicions have been confirmed!

I saw a pretty good doc on the swinger scene from a few years ago (the name escapes me) and most of the people in it definitely seemed middle-aged and older. The one younger couple in the film had stopped swinging by the end of the doc, which was not a judgemental view on the scene at all imo. It seems to me that the swingers scene was to a degree a product of the 60s, do you think it will survive after the current generation? I realize there will always be swingers, but it does seem to me that the numbers are going to shrink significantly.

B6, good question. I'm guessing here, but i think it will always be a "niche" group, a small select group of sexually free couples. My guess is as the current twenty-somethings age, have families, and then reach the point that the kids are grown and they want to explore swinging will be there. I think to do it takes maturity and supreme confidence in your partner, the strength of your relationship and in your own sexuality. Like now, its not going to be a huge number of people, but I think it will always be healthy especially as alternative sexuality becomes more mainstream. Even during the Bush years, sexuality in the West (have to emphasize this because other parts of the world don't have the same views about sex) was expanding into the mainstream. I remember when the Hustler Store opened on Sunset Blvd in the late 90s and going into that store and finding nothing but 20 somethings. Like I mentioned Club Sesso in my city is mostly young folks. As the LGBTQ community becomes more mainstream so will the alternate forms of sexuality that they bring. My friends who are lesbian bi are much more progressive about stuff like sex toys, erotica/porno etc. So yeah, I think short of a right-wing, martial law like crackdown like in the book the Handmaid's Tale swinging will go on and probably be more accepted even with partisan politics swings back and forth. But B6.....this is just my opinion not anything i've studied or collected data on, i'd look at what folks who study sexuality have to say (please avoid church funded right wing "porn as boogie man" research)!!!!!! It has its problems but can be a great experience for people with the libido & respect for those in the lifestyle. The clubs I refer to are private homes by day, clubs at night with hundreds of people attending on a regular basis. It doesn't make a difference what you call it. Bottom line is there's all sorts of sex going on, and just because someone says one thing, it doesn't mean jack once behind closed doors. Check out some swing sites, they claim they are straight, but "open minded", is code for "my wife and I want to give a guy head together!" Not always of course, just like "Bi Curious" for a girl is alot of time more like, "Bi boobie" and only 10 seconds at that. Bottom line though is, unless someone has researched swinging on a Thesis or Doctorate basis, everyone's experiences are different and are just what they see at the time, so for anyone to make major claims about the lifestyle across the board is a little presumptious. Case in point, everyone claims to be straight and would never cross swords, but the minute one girl tells another girl to stick two dicks in her mouth at once, you'd be suprised at how non homophobic guys will be. Then 5 other guys will magically appear and start beating off in front of other guys in hopes of getting some head from the girl.

The places you are referring to sound like the "Dead Rooster" in Las Vegas. The two nights we tried out that place it was like the nursing home bus had pulled up outside. What a total joke. I don't know if the people in that place could have even recognized a condom, let alone used one. Ewwwwwwwww!! XO Mindee
I have frequented several swinger clubs many times the last 5 years. As a single guy its the easiest and cheapest way to get laid. On almost every occasion the single guys got laid. I have seen girls take 2 to around 25 guys. All the clubs demand that the single men use condoms. If they dont follow that rule they will be thrown out (couples can fuck without rubber). If a woman wants a single guy to fuck her without condom, she must ask him to take it off. Perhaps I should add that the clubs I refer to are located in Europe.

sounds about right, this is very similar to the clubs i used to attend in SoCali over as recently as 2005. one thing i noticed about swing clubs was how the balance of sexual power shifts...imagine one of us guys trying to have sex with 25 women w/in the space of a 5 -7 hour swing club (most of the ones i used to go to started around 8pm and went until 2am or so).
Hello all This swinger talk is wild ..how do you find them. Can anyone tell me of any House/clubs in or near Los Angeles If I can't talk my girlfriend into it also list the ones that take single guys.. Thanks

There are a couple of reasonably good national sites that you can check out. (They are free) Swappernet & SwingLifeStyle. They not only have individual profiles, they have club lists in all of the states. That would be a good place for you to start. XO Mindee
