Also you must remember that today’s online ordering makes it easier then in the hay day of Jim South's World Modeling where not only did the producers/directors have to show up and have "cattle calls" but to get the fresh faces you would have to practically hang out there all day to see what new "victims" for the meat grinder would mysteriously materialize. Another point that I would love to make is that BIGGER does not always mean BETTER……the smaller boutique agencies keep the girls not only busy but have an actual “hands on” approach towards talent……you will never find yourself as just a number with a smaller agency. It’s funny that some of the larger agencies are starting to expand into “dance management” for models that want to do the feature circuit. It’s a good idea……but there ARE already specific agencies that are already doing this….so good luck to them! De_Bella has a good point as well in the actual licensing issue the only problem is that there are sooooooooooooo many and in soooooooooo many states that are non-licensed that there would have to be a very big agency not only investigating these under the radar players but truly a lot of man hours that cannot be spent in this aspect. Just for a moment consider the fact that we are fighting a war on drugs….terrorism…..etc, etc…..not only that but the economy in the shitter generally…….so I say to you after ALL of those years of these totally bogus companies operating across the country….I just do see any indictments in the future. | De_Bella Member 77 Posts 6/06 | Posted - Jan 28 2008 : 11:23PM With he recent workers compensation case, the barrage of talent reporting actions of some talent agencies licensed and unlicensed to the labor board and the protitution case out of florida which is linking several local unlicensed talent agencies to it, it will take time. The unlicensed activity and the licensed agency violating talent rights is not going under the radar any longer. This is a great industry and it seems that the same ones over and over again are at the bottom of directing the goverment towards us and we give them press spouting how great they are to the industry. We need to wake up and develope some standards or at least a conscious and remove these people who keep bring a black eye to the industry or go around making things up about people so they can hamper their legal business. Iconic World Modeling owner Jim South told XBIZ that the agency has been operational for a week and a half. The staff is in the process of updating the agency’s computer database, which in its heyday listed more than 1,000 performers. “We’ve been contacting all the people on it to see who’s around, who wants work,” South told XBIZ. “Once we finish and we see about who the people are that aren’t in the business anymore, or their numbers changed and whittle down so that we can spend a little more individual time with people. The advice he is giving them is 100 percent wrong. I heard today that he gave a start up unlicensed agency sample contracts to use knowing the contracts have to have the DLSE state approval stamp. I bet he would change his tune if a "legal document preparation service" started practicing law in his building without a "BAR" license. In addition the majority of the unlicensed agents/managers and at least three of the licensed agencies are booking escorts/privates. I don't need the government knocking on my door verifying I doing the right thing just because I have a license and they can readily find me when these other people are doing the wrong thing operating out of their car with a cell phone. I have heard so many horror stories within the past week about girls getting messed over, intimidated, forced to do scenes at lower rate and cheated out of their money. Then told they have to escort or do privates to make up agent fees or housing fees. It is making it hard for us legitimate licensed agents to gain these girls confidence and truly help them.
