Read this on a dutch news site. Tarantino is looking for 3 pornstars for his new movie, a remake of a Russ Meyer classic 'Faster, Pussycat, Kill! Kill!' It says Tera Patrick could be one of the girls in it which I think would be a huge mistake since she doesn't send any heat whatsoever and her arm is all fucked up! Link My choice for 3 girls would be: Trina Michaels, Gianna Michaels and Velicity Von, I'm sure that would Russ Meyer happy ;-)

for all the hype around this Im calling bullshit He has only reportedly said he would cast Tera Patrick abd she has expressed interest but theres been no indication that she has done a screen test or anythinhg else and I highly doubt its going to happen. Remember the Scarlett Johanssen playing Jenna thing....its all just PR bullshit.
I love Tarantino, but I think Russ Meyer is way out of his league. With his first films, he seemed fresh and inventive, but ever since Pulp Fiction Tarantino just seems to be plundering his library of cult faves, and resurrecting them one genre at a time. "Jackie Brown" - Blaxsploitation, "Kill Bill" - Shaw Bros kung fu flicks, "Death Proof" - grindhouse. The appeal of Meyer's films was always Meyer's unique and distinctive style. In anyone else's hands the material would be flat and lifeless... pornstars or not.
^That would indicate that Tarantino wanted to do a straight up Meyer remake. Tarantino is not known for that. In every case, he has opted for mash up, while using certain elements wholesale from the original sources. I just don't think that you'll see a straight up film like this from him. Fact of the matter, is I don't feel you'll end up seeing this from him at all. He has expressed interest in and been tied to many films over time (really, all directors are): a Friday the 13th, James Bond, Elmore Leonard's Forty Lashes Less One, Inglorious Bastards, Kill Bill Sequels and Prequels, The Vega Brothers. This could happen, but if I were a betting man, I'd say were more likely to see Inglorious Bastards, but who knows, he does have a tendency to let other things take priority.
In a Tarantino treatment, Meyer's notorious tit fetish would no doubt be supplanted by Tarantino's foot fetish. So rather than busty vixens... think girls in flipflops. What porn chicks have hot feet?

This ranks right up there with Tarantino offering John Jarratt (the brilliant Australian actor from Wolf Creek whose career stretches all the way back to A Picnic At Hanging Rock in the 70s) the Stuntman Mike role in Death Proof. They met, they talked, word got out in the press, and the next thing Jarratt knew, he was reading in the trades that Kurt Russell had the part. (In a show of very uncharacteristic humility, QT later gave Jarratt a "special thanks to" mention in the end credits.) That's just how Quentin works. As jrsl76 pointed out, QT's all about announcing films (and casting choices) that often don't have much basis in reality. Where's that Modesty Blaise update? How's that new film he's set up for Jack Hill to direct coming along? When's shooting start on that Ride In The Whirlwind remake? Is he still helping Jack get financing for the Spider Baby sequel? Mary Carey was actually in a straight to DVD movie called PERVERT (2006) where the director was doing a very obvious Russ Meyer homage/rip off. The way he shot it, the background music and the girls he cast was him trying very hard to copy/invoke Russ Meyer. The movie would've been better in my opinion if he cast better looking women. The women all had big breasts but were a tad on the chunky side and not all that attractive. Mary Carey is annoying to watch act because it almost seems like she's distracted by something else and really doesn't try to show emotions to match what she's saying. She almost always seems to be laughing at something when she says her lines. She doesn't really even try to "act", she just says her lines.

I would love to see somebody do a Meyer related film, but not Tarantino. I love the guy's work, but I don't think he gets camp and you need someone with a campy sensibility to get the Russ vibe. For that, a gay director like John Waters or Bruce LaBruce would be much better. Also, it would be way cooler to shoot one of his unproduced scripts than to do a re-make. Maybe one of the ones he co-wrote with Roger Ebert, like Viva Foxy or Who Killed Bambi? Even better, how about a biopic? Think about all the stuff you could cover. Europe in WWII, the burlesque scene of Oakland in the 40's, the burgeoning men's mag scene of the 50's, the topless bar scene of San Francisco in the 60's, the groovy/seedy underbelly of LA, the cheeziness of 70's. And think of the characters, Tempest Storm, Tura Satana, Charles Napier, Johnny Rotten. All in one film! If done right, it would be one helluva pic.
the only film he made before pulp fiction was reservoir dogs, and that is so obviously exactly the same as the others. your criticisms lack consistency.

Well you're more than welcome to disagree. Personally, I found Reservoir Dogs and Pulp Fiction to be much more original than his later films, which struck me more as homages [ if not blatant ripoffs ] to the aforementioned cult genres. Maybe the difference can be ascribed to Roger Avery's contribution to his first two films. Nevertheless, that's my opinion.
I can say this...HE'S FINALLY GETTING "INGLORIOUS BASTARDS" MADE! Or remade, depending on how you look at it...or re-imagined...or...shit, I'm just happy the fucker isn't taking another hiatus.
Reports are that Inglorious Bastards will be nothing like the original Enzo G. Castellari film. Tarantino purchased the rights to the film so that he could appropriate the name.
i'm familiar with your argument as it's the main one mounted against QT -- that all he does is homage / rip off other ppl -- and all i'm saying is he's done that every single step of the way. it may feel like he's done it more later, but he really has kept it consistent. consider that QT intended it to be his version of 'the killing', and the ending is his good the bad and the ugly. and so on.

Well, as I said in this thread, there has been a hardcore remake of Faster Pussycat with Elizabeth Starr and Daphne Rosen. While I've no doubt Tarantino's reamke would be nifty to watch, I'd rather he did an original sex comedy, with men getting laid all the time by really hot women. This time, Quentin was talking about it from the start. He sat down to write his "Men On A Mission" movie and it bloated to, last I heard - which was a long time ago, a trilogy. So in all fairness, this one wasn't Harvey. That said, as much as it annoyed the shit out of me at the time, I think Kill Bill was better for the split. Sure, there are tons of things that could be cut and you would have a tighter film, but I've come to realize that Tarantino is defined by the bloat. The inessential details play a big part in creating that Tarantino. I've loved all of his films, well maybe not Four Rooms, and I'm willing to take him on his own terms. Anyone that believes every word that comes out of Tarantino's mouth or the hype surrounding any of his "upcoming", "planned" or "in the works" projects or leaks about casting decisions obviously hasn't been paying much attention to the man over the years. It amazes me that fans still continue to jump on and get excited about every little rumor. I have a suggestion for the people who do this: hold your breath 'til that Vega Brothers movie comes out. The world will be a better place. As for the person who said they wished Texas Presley was still around...have you not seen "Sin City"? It's not a speaking role, in fact, it's not even more than five seconds of screen time but Texas is there, in The Big Fat Kill as one of the Old Town prostitutes. I know it will never happen but I really wish Tarantino would remake his own version of Natural Born Killers. Stone kind of raped Tarantino's script, but then again it will be impossible to find a better Micky and Mallory than Harrelson and Lewis.

Okay, two stories: A couple of years ago a friend of mine attended a screening of Battle Royale at the Seattle International Film Festival. The theater was pretty full and there was one seat available next to him. Sure enough, someone asked if the seat was taken. It was Quentin Tarantino. My friend said Quentin was very friendly and chatty. In fact, he talked all the way through the film. Far from being annoyed, however, my friend totally dug Tarantino's ceaseless patter. He said it was like having his own personal commentary track! About two years ago a music-critic friend asked if I wanted to join her for a screening of Faster Pussycat at the Seattle Gay & Lesbian Film Festival. Tura Satana was going to be there to introduce the film and take questions afterwards. I passed, saying I had seen the film numerous times and had seen and read numerous interviews with Satana about Russ Meyer and the making of the movie. A day later I asked how the screening went and my friend said, "Oh, it was great, I hung out with Tura afterwards. We went and had dinner and drinks. Too bad you couldn't join!" I kicked myself for a week.
Tarantino is annoying with his non-stop chatter, and he is a two hit wonder (Dogs and Pulp). Maybe if he did a little less talking he could make some better films.
^ If you don't like Tarantino post-Pulp, you probably never will. That's fine, but I really get tired of people constantly needing to always say how much they dislike Tarantino's films. I respect your opinion, but humbly disagree. In fact, I feel Jackie Brown is Tarantino's most mature film.
Tarantino annoys me. He's giving exploitation films a bum rap. He's a fanboy with money doing what all fanboys with money would like to do: makes movies that rip off their favorite films to show them off to the "ignorant" mainstream in order to take credit for "exposing" the ignorant mainstream to said films. Tarrantino did make two pretty good flicks, Dogs and Pulp, which then provided him access to big budgets. It's just that he's done ZERO since Pulp except rip off the exploitation genre. Tarrantino is the rapper of the film game, ripping off and sampling the real thing so he can make money. The ultimate exploitation artist as it were.
