There was no nudity, and when Dean Cain did kiss another guy, they shot it from the back of Dean's head, so they could have been faking it. Bummer As far as the story goes, it was funny at times and sad at times, and a little bit too melodramatic here and there. To be honest, it seemed like a really watered down version of Queer as Folk. Some of the plot lines really reminded me of QAF. Overall, it was entertaining, but I don't know if I would ever want to watch it again. [Link] |

(and I REALLY was hoping to see Dean Cain's butt, too!) I'll admit to not having seen too many of these "gay themed" movies so maybe I was expecting too much. The best I can do is compare it to my fav gay movie, Trick. I can watch Trick over and over, and love every minute of it (especially the drag queen in the bathroom!) Every time I watch Trick, it makes me just feel happy to be gay. The Broken Hearts Club, however, didn't really do anything for me. The characters seemed pretty one dimensional, and it didn't really even bother me when the really bad thing happened to that person. (maybe I'm too coldhearted!) They didn't flesh out the characters enough, and I kept thinking, "How the hell can the star afford such a nice house and car when he works as a waiter at a restuarant??" |

I wasn't expecting a whole lot of nudity or sex but just a nice story, and that's what they deliver. Trick is one of my all time favorites too and this comes in a close second! Maybe I'm just a big sap but I highly recommend it and see it as a nice departure from the graphic, "let's see how far we can push the envelope this week" on Queer as Folk.
