The first thing that all porn studios buy is a keyboard with a working shift key.
Probably you're too damn funny for me.. Just to let you know i don't own any studio.. Keep your swag up..

You missed my point. Nobody ever told you that typing in ALL CAPS was the online equivalent of shouting and it is totally unnecessary to shout at the forum when making topics?I will, and you use discretion when hitting the caps lock.
Obviously I made a mistake for which i should be severely punished.. Next time I will be as discrete as you want me to be.. I would like to thank you for your online tutorial and advise you to go back to your miserable life where shouting is forbidden.. Unless you have something relevant to the topic share with us... P.S. Check the MASSIVE ASSHOLES thread. You'll probably be offended.. Again!
Unbelievable! Finally some useful information. I would have to thank you for that!!!

I only posted relevant links from the first 4 pages of a search that came back with 20 or 30 pages of results. If you do spend some time hacking away at the search engine you'll probably have better luck if you keep the time frame large and stick to "The Porn Pool". I've been reading here for a few years and I know there is a thread or two which will answer you. Keep digging. EDIT: also, what is going on in your avatar, is it a porn card trick? Yeah sth like that.. It's just a pic from The Game's site and since I love rap, gambling and porn I thought that it would the perfect match. I'll follow your advise. Thanx!
I'll try to shed some light on this... It obviously depends on the type of movie. 30 years ago, the average budget for an X Rated FEATURE film shot on 35mm with +/- 4 name stars would be around $60,000-$100,000. With inflation, we're talking around $4-500,000... Today, a Vivid or Wicked FEATURE costs somewhere between $70,000 and $100,000 (that is unless they were using Jenna Jameson in which case those figures only make up her salary:)). Some of the bigger budget budget features cost up to $300,000 or more. Micheal Ninn reportedly spends up to $750,000 per movie. The big expense is the model fees. Back when movies were movies, actors in X Rated films were paid a day rate or given a flat sum for the film. More prominent names like Georgina Spelvin, Annette Haven, and others would get up to $750 for each day they were shooting, whether or not they had to shoot a sex scene. Most actors however would be given a day rate based on the size of their part (the average rate was $150 a day). Now porn has decided that its "stars" should get paid by the lay and what they will and will not do so a girl who will get fisted and does creampies will probably get more than a girl who just gets fucked. This all factors into the budgets, but since features rarely employ "kink" material these days, most girls in the just have "straight action" scenes. Directors and crew get under 40% of the average production budget with the remaining 60% going to the actors. A director will make approximately $15,000 on a feature film (this is because it is assumed that he will direct another few films that year), a known DP will make $7-10,000. The rest of the crew will essentially be paid union wages and be off the set within 5 days. Gonzo works differently and the cost of making a gonzo porn is much more open. The range is anywhere between $5,000 for the cheapest crap to sometimes approaching feature budgets of $70,000 for much more polished and technically sound filth. Again, it all depends on the actors and what they have to do. Hope this helps.
Good info, but you lost me at the DP part. What is a DP? My guess was Director/Producer, but then the lesser money doesn't make sense to me. Or is DP Director/Photographer? Still doesn't explain the money part. Edited by - ninja1 on 3/25/2008 1:18:39 PM
On a big budget film, he will design the shots along with the director. Explain to the lighting people how the set is to be lit, check for the proper film speed (essentially make sure the stock being used is correct for the environment), and explain in detail to the camera operator how to get the shot. Sometimes the DP is also the camera operator. He still does all the other stuff. On cheap shitty shot on mini-DV productions, "DP" is just a nicer thing to call the guy with the handicam.
Thanx for your help John! Actually I was more interested in the cost of a gonzo production so if you could give me any additional info it would be great!
